"Get to know the truth and the truth will free you" which means those not knowing the truth are not free but are instead someone's captive in this case of the wily WTS.

You are wising up to the darker side of the society but the elders are far too biased or afraid to accept obvious facts, and their logical conclusions, such as the ones you mention.
So the truth sets people free. -

JWs and socio economic status
by greendawn indo you think that someone's socio economic status determines how they get treated (behaved to) by the jws?
.
can someone high up the ladder get away with more things especially if he made big donations to the society and do they look down upon those lower down?

I believe the overall spirit of your postings is correct the JWs are strongly influenced by someone's socio economic status, the higher ups enjoy more leeway though that does not guarantee them total immunity from expulsion if their behaviour gets way out of line. But perhaps the really big financial donors like Michael Jackson will have near immunity.
Marx and his materialist theory that one's social status is determined by his financial (material wealth)strength can be applied even in the JW, so called, spiritual family. -

Is Early Christianity the Basis For JW Practices?
by OldSoul inearly christianity: what was it like?
did the early christians ask the public for donations to fund their ministry or other works?.
did the early christians encourage believers to distribute communications from the apostles and older men in jerusalem to the public as a primary part of their ministry?.

Narkissos do you know of any links that deal with the issue of fragmentation and conflict and what was considered by different groups to be orthodox belief, in the early church?
It would be interesting to see what they have to say on these issues. -

This forum is strongly anti watchtower society and anti governing body but not so much against the individual ordinary witnesses. Virtually all people here are ex JWs.

A door to door preaching would certainly be suicidal and out of the question after the emperor Domitian made Christianity a capital crime around 90AD. And the early christians partook of the bread and wine every Sunday not once a year.
Terry I am not an expert in early Christian history (33-313 AD) but my impression is that it was not so highly fragmented. There were pro mosaic law jewish christians. Also there were agnostic sects but we don't think of them as part of mainstream early christianity. The rest of the christian church was fairly unified in doctrine. -

New to site - letting it out
by jimakazi init is interesting to read the comments of so many who are no longer "in the truth".
i have not associated for 18 years but as my parents are still very much "in the truth".
i never disassociated myself as i feel to do so is to acknowledge some form of official status over me.

Welcome to the board Jimakazi and congratulations for having seen so acutely through the deceptive propaganda of the WTS.
The only thing though, about the Australian fauna wasn't there a land connection in ancient days with Asia through which they could pass? -

Banning Alcohol
by moanzy ini think the society should ban drinking.
anyone caught drinking should be disfellowshipped.

Midwich "When the dinosaurs were wiped out, what was left?"
In what sense are you making this question? There were always plenty of species after the dinosaurs vanished.
