In my ex congo there were three people ( two of them elders) that did really well out of their education at university level, and it was hard to see how they could advise the JWs not to go on to higher education, with their example.

by metatron inmay 22 1969 awake .
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old.
in this present system of things...... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

Well at least that is something for the JWs to see and realise that their GB's policy of suppressing all constructive criticism can be bypassed and people will be all the more determined to air their opinions.

I really liked the French film Jean de Florette made in 1986 starring Gerard Departieu (an adaptation of the novel by Marcel Pagniol) and its sequel Manon des sources that brought Emmanuelle Beart to stardom.

Going to a District Convention Undercover, suggestions?
by frankiespeakin ini'm still undesided but leaning towards going to a few dcs under the cover of a worldly person(i'm really a df'd evil apostate .
i'm a worldy person that is in love with a jw sister who i work with, we have dated and even have been intimate(that outa perk up the ears of any hatchet man elder), and now she refuses to see me any more unless i become a jw, she encouraged me to go to this convention, but is afraid to be seen with me because she doesn't want people in her congregation to know she has a boy friend.
i think that kind of story would grab the interest of many sisters or brother and allow me to ask some hard questions about the organization and even allow me to bring up some things i found on the internet about dates and such and not be viewed as an apostate.

Say that you have some JW (relatives)cousins who talked to you in a limited way in the past and that you would like to know what they believe in more detail, so you got the idea to attend the DC to satisfy curiosity.

Read any good books lately?
by chrissy inso, i will be down and out for awhile after a little surgery this week and i am trying to get a few books to keep myself amused and i am looking for suggestions on something you may have read recently and enjoyed.
i prefer non-fiction, but will consider reading anything highly recommended, as long as it contains at least a spark of truth.
well, i will recommend a book to you alla few days ago, i finished reading into the wild by jon krakauera biographical story about a young man who, after graduating college, got rid of all of his belongings and hitch-hiked across the country in search of jack london-esque adventures.

The book by Udo Erasmus "Fats that heal and fats that kill" he believes that the really bad fats are not saturated animal fats as claimed by orthodox medicine for 40 years but the processed vegetable oils which contain large amounts of noxious trans fats and these are found in many foodstuffs, biscuits, cooking margarines, cakes, salad dressings etc

Did anyone find the DC encouraging?
by sweet tee ini remember going to the assemblies and conventions and feeling encouraged by the information that was presented.
in hindsight, i may have just felt that way because that's how you were supposed to feel.
i was a 100% brainwashed fool for many years, if the gb said it, i did, i felt it and i believed it .

The assemly talks were just as boring as the KH ones only the dramas were a somewhat colourful and as someone said the chance to see lots of pretty faces in the crowd.
The same mindset of dull speakers trying to make people feel guilty for not living up to WTS standards in a culture that doesn't care at all about helping the individual in any sense. So hypocritical. -

From my time as a dub I have the impression that they are a very tight fisted and mean lot so I think number nine is the most natural explanation.

What your opinion will the Governing Boneheads pull out all the stops?
by frankiespeakin inwhat your opinion will the governing boneheads pull out all the stops, and get meaner and tougher in thier tactics and policy making in the near future and beyound or will they become more main stream and lighten up in thier harsh treatment of the flock?.
i see a very ominous trend in the organization that seems to becomeing more and more hardline.
as minimuses thread about a new search and destroy mission to df'n or da'n jws who stop going to indoctrination sessions and no long sell thier books, calling on them asking them if they still want to be jws, to which they must respond with an unqualifies yes or get the ax.. it seems to me that this is the trend, which may back fire and cause the governing boneheads some real problems in the future.

I think that their hard line policies will backfire as people get to realise more and more that they have nothing good to offer to the world, thinking of it millions of people already left because they are arbitrary hardliners that can never change for the better.
