Deep down it's the same sort of spirt that operates in the two sects mormon and JW even though the JWs may appear to be less exreme.
It's incredible that they should do something of this sort and they are clearly some of the worse people on earth.

Recently Disfellowshipped
by dfd ini having been "lurking" around here for about a month--right when i was disfellowshipped actually.
in a year long relationship--broke up-five months later had a bout of conscience and told on myself.
myself and my ex are disfellowshipped and now most of my former group of "friends" are getting in trouble.

Song lyrics, humour, and the JWs
by greendawn indo you know of any song titles or lyrics that could be humorously or not so humourously applied to the wts and the jws in general.
for example madonna's "papa don't preach" can be applied to the governing body for their hypocrisy.
jennifer lopez from the song "ain't it funny": .

Is the Watchtower hurting financially?
by truthseeker inwhile surfing e-watchman's paradise forum, i clicked on one of the topics i never go to, "our meetings & assemblies" and found an interesting post on the wt bleeding financially.. it was posted 3 months ago.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/viewtopic.php?t=2888&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0.
in my neck of the woods (which shall remain anonymous) the do and co have been circulating the rumour that the watchtower society is in financial straights and is being bled dry.
this must be very pressing.

They seem to be making a lot of money selling mags, books, and CD's/DVD's given the data from Johnny, so what do they do with all those profits? They also get donations from the congos and God knows what other investments they have eg stocks and shares, so why are they moaning?

Male or Female
by love2Bworldly ini have been reading over the forum today and something hit me.
because i don't look up everyone's histories, there are people i assumed were either male or female--partly based on their avatar and partly based on the type of comments they make.
well guess what folks--i was shocked to find out i was wrong about a few people.. does anyone else out there decide that certain posters are male or female, and then find out they're wrong?

God always is with his servants
by tata in.
alright i'm being sarcastic.... let me tell you why i said that.
i had to preach this saturday, i do not want to talk with nobody, but i do not had any excuse not to, so i talked in this house and the girl ask me to bring her the magazines because she love to read it.. i laughed later thinking that in another time i would think it was god sending me a "sheep", someone with study the bible.

I suppose it is hard for you to have to talk to people about the WTS at a time when you no longer believe in it.

Fading away problems.
by greendawn inmany people decide to fade away from the org gradually so as not to have to suffer the sanctions of being disfellowshipped or disassociated and if all goes according to plan it works well.
.
are there any cases where things somehow went wrong and the objective to quietly leave failed, your one or that of other people?
-
greendawn
So they are apparently getting more hard line, trying to close the gap where faders reside, it will be interesting to see how things unfold.
When I left in the mid 80's there were quite a few faders at the time and the JWs have completely forgotten them since. -

Anyone been to Greece?
by unbeliever ini am seriously considering going to greece for my next vacation.
i have been looking at websites and they look like nothing but tourist traps.
i plan to do the whole athens tour but i want to check out some of the islands.
-
greendawn
Unbeliever, I have been to Greece several times but as I understand it you are basically looking for an island that's not swamped by mass tourism every summer but has nice beaches.
There are quite a lot of islands but most of the ones I know (Crete, Rhodes, Santorini, Corfu, Mykonos, Zakynthos, Cos) are into mass tourism, except Thasos in the north which has a moderate number of tourists and nice beaches. There must be more but I don't know them.
In August I will be going to Samothraki a beautiful green unspoilt island but it has only a couple of beaches, just one accesible by road. -

You just have to say that you can only celebrate so much and leave the rest out I don't think anyone can celebrate or attend all holidays, birthdays and weddings.
