So what is this meaning of the word Jack so often associated with American cheeses? How do Monteray and Monteray Jack differ?
Yes I always thought cheeses (and milk) bring about good relaxation and nice dreams but I don't think they can cause kidney stones even though they contain a lot of Calcium. Rather what causes calcium to come out and form stones in the kidneys is the lack of potassium in the diet due to low consumption of fruit and veg. Also the phosphoric acid in soft drinks eg coke.
I prefer the strong more mature cheddars though their texture becomes crumbly and hard to slice properly. Cathedral City extra mature is the best.
Bavman, is Wisconsin a big cheese producing state?

State A Simple Opinion About JWD Members
by nicolaou inwe share a common past but have travelled many different roads to find each other here.
our outlooks and perceptions of reality are varied and often fascinating.
most of us are encouraging, funny, helpful and kind while others are still wrapped in bitterness and hatred or suffering from despair and privation.

Just to clear things up, I am not refering to a religious anti WTS organisation. Many ex JWs are atheists and many more came to loathe religion due to the unrelenting tyranny of the JW org they had to live through. They don't want to have anything to do with religions (most of these = whores).
I mean something more secular. -

Yes a lot of good work has been done especially through the internet and this is commendable but I was hoping to see the WTS drastically reduced in membership size and influence by now. In my opinion it could have easily been done with some more concerted effort. And of course not all ex JWs would actively engage though most would love to see that miserable whore humiliated and powerless. This is a political kind of issue and as with all such issues only a few actively participate though most are interested in it.

Yes fetta cheese is very nice as long as it is made in the traditional way with just ewe's and goat's milk the one made with cow's milk is useless. Some brands are much better than others. A Brie with a full creamy taste is great in sandwices too.
I've heard of Monterray in Tex-Mex recipes but never tried it or horseradish cheddar (sounds interesting) though we have things like sage or elderberry wine cheddar. I don't use processed cheeses, as usually I go for natural unprocessed food as much as possible. Mimolette is a nice French cheese but I prefer stronger tasting ones like mature cheddar or gruyere.
Surprisingly cheddar does not have a protected designation of origin (PDO) status, except west country farmhouse cheddar, so that anyone in any country can produce and market it under that name, the same with Edam, but other cheeses can only be produced in a specific country or even region or locality within a country eg Roquefort can only be labelled and sold as such if produced in the caves of just one village in the South of France Roquefort-sur-Soulzon or fetta cheese only in (any region of) Greece. -

Eating cheese with wine in nice surroundings with friends is one of my favourite earthly activities and what would life be without it? So nutritious and tasty eaten on its own or as part of a dish.
Do you like cheese and what kinds? I suppose in the USA they produce cheese types not found in Europe. -

Why do I cringe? Why am I still so bitter?
by oompa inmade my own personal statement by skipping the memorial, and then went to the next regular ol sunday meeting with my wife.
i tried hard not to pay attention, but still went nuts when the wt said things clearly not in the bible (which i don't even believe anymore!).
so why does this still bother me?

If I recall well you left recently so it's not surprisingly that you are still stuck mentally to some extend in this religion. Eventually it will become like a storm in the far distance as you develop new interests and relationships outside. It happened to many, a few or even many wasted years in a useless religion.

It was a very cold environment for me and other then young people even when I was an active JW, a handful of people were nice but most had closed unemotional hearts more or less as the rest of society. Plus they had all the demands and burdens of the JW society.
All in all this is a society without any true religious or cultural foundation, day by day it is the negative unhealthy emotion of the fear of god and armageddon that keeps them going.
The need to develop good loving christian personalities and society has been completely lost on them and all the emphasis is on preaching, just to bring in more people into an unloving oppressive environment most of whom will eventully leave and get damned by them as apostates and enemies of jehovah. -

I have eaten some of the unusual food mentioned above, snails many times and they are very nice, tripe soup made from cow's stomach also very good, and the most unusual of all was turtle meat, again good.
I wonder what kind of taste ants have. -

Issues That Made You ANGRY While You Were A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inwhen i look back, i think of some things that really angered me about the organization.
i was raised as a witness and i was taught from a very early age that "reaching out" was the most important things i could do in life.
i was to reach out for "privileges" and get baptized.

It is indeed utter bullshit but millions of incredibly dumb JWs believe it. In fact over the last 150 years hundreds of arrogant pompous asses in America have claimed that they were granted a monopoly of revelation and all religious authority by God and the JW leadership is part of that trend.
They were scheming and weaving deceptions to promote their companies oops religions in society. The newly started who had to begin from zero desperately needed this kind of devious marketing to begin moving ahead by attracting followers. And thus the FDS myth was born. -

FUN TEST! I am 37% JW!! Post your percentage here plz
by Tired of the Hypocrisy ini found this online.
i have not seen it on here before so i thought i would post it.
it is a test to determine if you belong in the jw religion.

33% but that must be due to some overlap of christianity with JWism, I give them very low marks as an org. I'd rather see it going down for good along with its evil mindset.
