When I was a Bethelite I could always say I had to work at headquarters. No one could question that one. That's one thing I miss about Bethel.

what's yo fantasy?!
by kittyeatzjdubs inso me and my boyfriend were discussing this last night and i wanted to get y'alls opinion.
when the org crumbles and falls how do you see it happening?
i like this idea: the fbi raids bethel, finds a bunch of illegal stuff (money laundering, list of known and active pedophiles, etc.

My fantasy is that I wake up tomorrow and find out that I am still 18 and the past 11 years have just been a bad dream. Then I would leave the borg then instead of wasting an additional 10 years with them.

I am scared of my future marriage
by jwbot ini am watching oprah (right now actually) and the topic hits close to home.
good timing actually, because yesterday i was thinking of talking with my fiance, mike about this very thing.
you see, mike really loves kids, and we plan to have them eventually, its a very important part in our relationship (to him, mostly).

I'm actually watching Oprah right now as well. (What, a guy watching Oprah? It's true.) Best advice right now is, don't have kids for at least 5 years, because having kids will change the relationship between you and your spouse. Give yourselves enough time to be first to each other because when the kids come they will come first. Your own maternal instincts will kick in to be a "supermom." Oprah is mostly about moms putting their kids before their husbands. Husbands generally don't do that. They tend to keep their wives first even above their kids. So it's more likely that you will start to neglect him than him neglecting you. Is that what you are afraid of? If so, your being aware of it now will help you combat that tendency later when you do have kids. But that is just my opinion.

Introducing myself
by bitca ini've been lurking here for a while, so i figured it's time for me to introduce myself.
i was raised in "the truth".
both of my parents were witnesses, and so were their parents.

Welcome to the board. Your story sounds familiar. You said you moved out of state. If I may ask, what state did you move to/from? Were you from Oklahoma originally or is that where you moved to?

2005 october
by neophobic inwell it wont be long now till i no longer have to put up with this riddicule, i somtimes ask myself why is it that people have to have a go at somthing somone posts, instead of just reading it and moving on, ive been watching brown boy's posting on this page http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/67918/8.ashx which i thought was interesting.
brown boy is saying the same year though a different month and if im a crazy freek he must also be a freek, i dont think he is but hes saying hes the faithful and discreet slave.
so i would like to suggest that you re open my posting and let me continue my line or show your true colours [being that if you dont like it then it aint seen] and stand your ground, or is there no such thing as free speech.

Ok so you left the idea of God - what would it take to come back?
by Qcmbr inone point that has played many times on my mind (and is fairly central to my world view) is that if god exists its up to him to prove it.
what would it take for you to accept god?
starters for ten: .

Fe203Girl said: "I would like a universal manifestation - i.e. everyone on earth gets the same message, at the same time. Then I would like her to clarify whether she wants something of us or not, and if so, why she didn't say so clearly in the first place. I would also like her reassurance that if the Incas, ancient Greeks, Southern Baptists or Druids got it wrong, she wouldn't hold it against them, given that she didn't bother making herself clear."
I find it amusing when people (usually women) feminize God. But you would think that God would be male, after all he appears to have a problem with communication. Now if God were female, he would be talking all the time. But since he doesn't do that, it is pretty clear that God (if he is anything) is a guy.

Well that is no reason to leave the borg. . .
Now the failed prophecies, doctrinal flip flops, toleration and/or protecting of pedophiles, association with UN, unscriptural blood ban, etc, etc. Now those are some good reasons for leaving.

Prayers at mealtime!!?
by Frog inwho still find it strange years on to dive straight into your mail meal without 'giving thanks'?
i say main meal, because dad's prayers were always considerably lengthy before a main meal, and are an institution in every jw household.
even now after a few years i'm just about ready to tuck in when i find myself saying a simple thanks under my breath.

I don't remember the last time I prayed, about or for anything. It would seem strange praying to "Jehovah" when the "Jehovah" I had been praying to would always in my mind be associated with a false religion. But it felt weird the few times I tried to pray to Jesus. So I don't know who to pray to or what to pray for. I guess I could pray for guidance, but I did that for the first 27 years of my life and only at the age of 28 did I get the guidance I was looking for. Namely, guidance out of the borg. I'm somewhat upset with God to think that he would let me linger in untruth all that time. Kind of makes me question his existence at all. Now that I think about it, the last time I prayed I said to God, "If you exist prove it to me now by striking me dead right now!" Obviously nothing happened. Another unanswered prayer. I don't recall praying since then.

That sure was a lot of work just to get my name on a list so I can receive junk email when this guy sells my email info to whoever wants it. I didn't give him my email address. I guess that makes me a genius.

The effects of exiting a cult
by Sirona ini consider jehovahs witnesses to be a cult, or at least a high control group (cult-like).. i recognise within myself some side effects of having been a jw.
here is an interesting article dealing with cults (it does list some extreme cult tactics).
i'm going to quote just part of the article regarding the effects on someone who has left a cult.

Same problem here. Major trust issues. It's hard to trust much of anyone when your "mother" the WTS turned out to be a liar. I think the WTS taught us that we could always trust them, so we did. Then we learned they were full of crap. At least for me that has caused me to be very cynical. I pretty much think that everyone is full of crap. That of course makes it difficult to get close to much of anyone. Solution: Unfortunately I don't have the answer. And if someone gave me the answer I probably wouldn't listen to them anyway, after all, I can't trust them.
