Minimus, he is saying he is one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the true sense, not a member of the organization that refer to themselves as "Jehovah's Witnesses." A true witness (Isa 43:10) is one who speaks the truth about God. Anyone who reveals the falsehoods of the borg is a true witness for God.

I now consider myself to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by jaffacake insix months ago i knew nothing about the watchtowe religion.
i had not read my bible for more than 25 years, and had gradually drifted between atheism and agnosticism, without giving any thought to what those terms meant.
then my lifelong friends started studying with jws.

Were You Ever Confused As To Whether You Actually Committed A "Sin"?
by minimus insince the watchtower constantly "adjusts", were you ever unsure as to whether or not you might have committed a "sin"?
were you under the impression that "porneia" or "fornication" was something you did not commit----only to find out that by the "bible's" definition, you did commit this "sin"?
or perhaps you thought that you "lied"-----but realized that you were only employing "theocratic warfare" or "theocratic strategy"?

In the early days of the JW's, or at some time in the recent past, it was NOT considered PORNEIA if you had sex with someone of the same sex, or an animal. So women whose husband had sex with another man, they couldnt divorce them "legally" until just recently.
That was in the early 70's. Strange how they thought it was okay to have oral sex with a horse or a dog but you couldn't do so with your mate. But the FDS said so, so it must have been true. It's a good thing "God" changed his mind about that one.

WTS wealth/assets how to be shared?
by greendawn inimagine a situation were the jw org is burst assunder with all the rank and file members leaving and then entering into a legal dispute with the wts over the assets issue: they want to claim most of it because they are the ones that really made it with their unpaid work and conributions in money or property.
they want to have the wts and all its daughter corporations.
on the other hand the wts the shareholders, the directors, will claim that the assets legally belong to them, they can boast of a legally protected ownership over them, they are registered in their name and they should keep everything.

Well as a former Bethelite I would hope I would be compensated something for having wasted years of my life. I think $5000 for every month I was there is fair. And of course their blood policy killed my father so I think they owe me quite a bit there as well. So I'll just take a settlement of around $1,000,000 US. Let me know when I can collect!

No, but I have a funny story about a time when I was an attendant at an assembly. The morning session had already started and it was my assignment to help anyone who came in late to find a seat. Well this one brother came in and was looking rather nervous and unsure of himself, so I approached him and asked him if he needed any help finding a seat. He said, "I'm disfellowshipped." I said that is okay I could still help him find a seat if he would like. He said that would be fine. (A side note, I never really understood the function of helping people find seats, as if they can't use their eyes just like I am using mine to find the seats.) Well after a few moments I found a few open chairs and I had this young brother follow me. I pointed him in the direction of the seats and assumed that he would go ahead and take the spot. However, he turned to me and said something like, "Excuse me brother but I can't sit there." I said, "Well why not?" Not that it really mattered to me it's just I had never got that response from someone before. So he looked up towards the area where the available seats were and he said, "See that girl up there in the red dress? That is the reason I'm disfellowshipped." It took everything in me not to start bursting out laughing. I can just imagine what an uncomfortable situation I inadvertently created. He was embarrassed, the girl was embarrassed, no doubt anyone from their congo who knew them were watching and their elders were probably watching. At the time of course being a good MS I immediately found a spot for him on the other side of the arena, but looking back on it now brings me quite a bit of laughter. It was a lot funnier in person. One of those, you had to be there, type moments.

I was serving at Bethel in 1998 and never heard a word about this. With Bethel being the rumor mill that it is it would be a virtual miracle for something like this to happen and for it not to be the subject of gossip the next morning. I'm not saying this didn't happen but if it did the WTS did an incredible job of keeping it quiet around the big house.

The second to last meeting I went to was a District Convention back on July 5th, 2003. I had been having doubts for quite some time but on that day while sitting there listening to the dribble coming from the stage I realized that I could not listen to this anymore. More importantly, I couldn't preach this stuff to other people anymore. So I left that day. I went to the Memorial last year (2004) but only because my mom begged me to go. I didn't go this year though. I haven't officially DA'd myself yet. I plan to do so on the 10,913th day of my life. Why that day? Check out the Jim Carrey movie, "The Truman Show." That is what my avatar is from as well. Truman Burbank, the star of "The Truman Show" finally leaves the false reality he lives in on the 10,913th day of his life. Today is day # 10,702 if my calculations are correct. So I will be officially DAing myself in 211 days. That will be November 22, 2005. This gives me plenty of time to finish my disassociation letter (it is already 40 or so pages long). And it gives me time to continue trying to reach the one's I love. It sounds kind of silly but I've always been one to set goals (must be my JW upbringing). So I have a goal set for November 22nd. Thanks WTS for helping me learn to set goals.

Bethel Question
by sandy indoes the wt pay for your traveling cost when you are accepted?
.
i mean do they at least pay for thr cost of your plane ticket?
-

They don't pay your way there they don't pay when you leave. They don't want you to make any money while you are there and the little money they do give you they expect you to contribute some of that back to the "world wide preaching work." Sounds fair huh?
