i'm sure that i would've, believing that jehovah god would be proud of me.
NO!
I would have refused one for myself, definitely. but never could i watch my child die if they could help her.
my family likes to say that blood never really saved anyone; until a couple years ago when my MIL had massive internal bleeding and had to have her volume replaced 4 times rapidly. she would definitely be gone now if not for the transfusion.
here's a question for you all: my minor daughter is supposed to go cross country for a trip with her dad later in the year. what the hell do i send with her in the way of paperwork that if there was any question, they would give her the transfusion? i know he'd say no to one for her.
any ideas as far as the proper paperwork to send along? i'm already terrified of thinking of her being that far away from me for a week and it's a ways off yet. :(

and more important to you than the bible.. ok, for some of us most books are better than the bible, for others the choice is more difficult.. a book that i feel has more value and wisdom than the bible is:.
the hitchhiker guide to the galaxy by douglas adams (all 5 book in the trilogy actually).

oh, i concur. you're obviously a frood who really knows where his towel is.
i especially prefer the first book still, classic. Restaurant at the end of the universe is great for those who are ex-religious (love the messiah never showing up for his scheduled dinner appearance, love that).
i find for 'serious' reading that the Four Agreements makes a hell of a lot more sense to me than the bible does. It's a lot simpler, and i find beauty in simplicity.
i would also recommend, next time you're in the children's book section, you all check out the trilogy "click clack moo, cows that type", "giggle giggle quack" and finally the third book "Duck for president".
very, very entertaining.
Now if you'll excuse me, there seems to be a bulldozer out in front of my house...what's that you say, Mr. Prosser? You're building a bypass?
I never did get the hang of thursdays. But then isn't it friday now?

have heard recently from some bethel folks that a new buzz phrase is being tossed around from the bethel breakfast table.
"jehovah and jesus are in charge so no one will ever be damaged permanently.".
guess this means elders, co's, do's, the bethel cia (aka the service department) all can do whatever they want, to whomever they want, in any manner they want, and it will be ok because jehovah will not let anyone be damaged permanently.. oh boy, here we go again.. beat the sheep with complete disregard.. dr. j
heh heh... also... wouldn't it be fun to throw that phrase back in their faces when they start complaining about having to pay out large sums of money in "damages" to child abuse victims?? We could say: Well, didn't Brother So-and-So say that "Since Jehovah and Jesus are in charge, no one will ever be permanently damaged"?? Suck it up Brothers, the damage to your bank accounts isn't permanent!!Love, Scully
beautiful, Scully! Reminds me of Homer Simpson, his roasted pig flying through the air after Lisa sabotages his barbeque in protest: "It's just a little airborne, it's still good, it's still good!" The pig is about to hit the ground, boys, and it's not gonna be good. The only way they will feel the 'damage' done to the flock under their tender mercies will be to drain Thy Holy Bank Accounts, that's for sure. Somehow I don't think "Jehovah" will be so quick to refill those for them. this really frosts my cookies. the "magic sky dad will wave a wand and make all the bad things that have happened go away" just doesn't fly with those of us who long since stopped believing in the tooth fairy, the divine choosing of the Governing Body and the easter bunny. We're old enough to know now that monsters aren't in our closets. They're in New York.
i've had him and his family on my mind lately, wondering how he is and i miss him.
wonder if they've added any more little ones to the family?
:d. does anyone know whereabouts he is these days?

Does anyone know whereabouts he is these days? Does he ever post anymore? If anyone has a current email addy and would be willing to share it or to at least tell him I was asking after him, please PM me? I think the addy I have for him is long outdated.
thanks,

i took the "belief-o-matic" survey at beliefnet yesterday, and it looks like i am a mormon.
the survey matches your beliefs on various matters to the creeds of the world's religions and assigns a percentage.
i was 100% church of jesus christ of latter-day saints.
wow, i haven't looked at that/taken that quiz in a couple years! how fascinating to re-take it now that i'm SO different than I was when i first found these forums in 2000! my results now:

how on earth i got 42 percentile still with jw's is totally beyond me, the beliefs i truly hold and what i checked off have NO agreement with JW views, well, only one but that's like a total coincedence! what the heck is this disclaimer though? Warning: Belief-O-Matic? assumes no legal liability for the ultimate fate of your soul.
remember kids, Do not taunt the Happy Fun Ball! "
" you're not the only one, madman! and worse, when i took it a second time the results flopped, i got 100 percent liberal quaker but i read it and was like huh? this doesn't fit. isn't there like a 'salad bar' catagory, build your own belief system? *sigh* that's where I am. i don't agree with anybody entirely, guess that's why organized religion is over for me. my post looks really bizarre before, all out of order. will go back and edit the first one out if i can, weird. fleur |

edited, reposted below. on my screen at least, it came out all weird.
maybe that's the Universe's way of telling me not to post on this thread? LOL
i just learned through contacts with my family that they are trying to file a suit against me for reverse shunning!!!
what is reverse shunning?
or "shunning them"?
alamb, i sent you an email but I am not sure if the addy i have is current, if yoiu don't get it, please PM me!
i'm so sorry they're putting you through this. if misery loves company you should know that my sister has tried the same crap on me about wanting to see my kid but not me. Scully, your post is pure genius from beginning to end here:
So, they're playing the I-don't-want-to-associate-with-you-but-I-do-want-to-associate-with-your-children game. This is also called the I-want-to-brainwash-your-children-while-you-are-not-around game.
Tough. They're your kids, and association with them comes with a price: being civil, respectful and courteous to you. They have not done that. You're a package deal, and if they want to associate with your children, they have to do so with you present and treat you in a humane way. These people are practically strangers to your children. Would you let your children play with strangers?? Of course not!
this is EXACTLY what hubby told my sister when she wanted to do the dice-and-slice- build- your- own happy- meal pick- your- person- to see my kid but not speak to me. like i'd give her carte blanche to brainwash my child that way! what planet is she living on?!
not as bad as what you're having to cope with, poor alamb, please know that i have to believe that someday, your determination to show unconditional love to your children will have to win out somehow over the empty lies that they're being fed right now.
(((((((((((alamb and little lambs))))))))
i'm so sorry :(

the more time that passes, the less i even think about it.
i dont really believe in it but now and again i get a nagging fear of "what if we're all wrong and it is true" and boom big lighting rods and earthquakes come and shatter us all and i think damn and i almost beat jah on this one .
its so silly i know im right about my decison to leave the dubs but they psychologicaly messed with us for so long sometimes your like woah what if theyre right!.
" As a child, yes I did. Now, I file it somewhere in between Mother Goose and Aesop's." dang, randomtask, you've made some really great posts today! and likely before, i will have to look up your past work. great stuff all. do i fear it? not a damn bit. its never coming. and even if the fairy tale were true (its not but just for sake of saying) i would rather die now having lived the past few years of my life authentically than live 'forever' in the eternal hell of a multicultural picnic with those who condemned me for leaving the man who abused me and marrying one who did not. no thanks, i'll pass on that vision of paradise. fleur
i have a grandaughter that has told me that she loves satan and that he rules.
she draws awful pictures of dark clowns and writes die and kill on the side of it,.
i am afraid for her welbeing.
get her to a doctor NOW so that they can prevent her from going back to any environment which would further jeopardize her health!
she's lucky to have you, some kids have no one, hopefully she will hang on to the love you have to offer her. don't hesitate, get her to a doctor now.
hugs
