by MrMoe ini will let you all hang who ever the heck wrote this crap.
november 8, 2001 awake page 9: some battered women may need to seek assistance from the authorities.
at times, a point of crisis-such as intervention of the police-can cause an abusive man to see the seriousness of the action.. page 12: should the battered wife leave her husband?

Elder burn-out
by roybatty inwhile responding to another post, i started to wonder how many other current or former elders out there have also seen the high turnover rate among elders.
before i left the jws a couple of years ago, i was an elder for about 4 years and within that time i saw the local elder body drop from eight to four people.
even before that it seemed that the elder body had a revolving door on it.

Besides just starting to post here today, I haven't talked to many people about the way I feel. I guess it still seems strange to be feeling this bitter over a past with a silly religion. Didn't mean to knock the event, just want to find a way to forget my past-I don't want to call myself an ex-JW, I am ___ _______, and that's it. I still don't celebrate anything, 'cause I'm still technically a JW, (don't want to isolate old friends and family). I feel kind of stuck. Elders came to my door the other day, and I couldn't even open the door. I felt like such a coward. But I know what they want-a friend had come over a few months before and asked (the first thing he asked)-DO YOU STILL BELIEVE IN THE TEACHINGS OF JEHOVAHS WITNESSES?
I've skirted his questions, and now sets of elders have been arriving on my doorstep ever since. They want to bag me and I'm a little paraniod. Sorry if I irritated you guys.
Have a good one.

Don't you guys get feel weird at a convention of ex-JW's. It seems like a gripe convention. I have a lot of things to say about JW's and all of the crap that happened to me, but going to a convention is like making a religion of my past. I can understand the need to talk about it, 'cause believe me, I know how screwed up it is, but it's like immersing yourself in the past.
Just a thought.

The Hypocrisy of the Governing Body
by radar inif the rank and file members of jehovahs witnesses reject the watchtower's thinking on bible doctrine in some way, they are considered apostate.. yet the governing body of j.ws, themselves have rejected teachings of previous governing body members who have long since died and have proceeded to change interpreatation on things many times over, from russell to fred franz.
guess what they call it..........apostasy?.
no, this is called new light.. .

Why JWs and ex JWs Return to Watchtower
by Victor_E inwith recent events of the wtc bombing some ex jws and inactive jws are returning to meetings and all the customary rituals.
some wonder what could drive such individuals to do such irrational acts.
i will outline some of the factors and i admit that it could be one or more or none of these because in the final analysis only the individual person knows why.. fear: as jws we were programmed to have a pervasive fear of a god that was punitive and blood thirsty with his creatures.

i felt the same way when it happened, but someone older, wiser and kinder calmed me down.....I can't wait until the day that I can wake up without fear of dying forever because of my sins-and the abuse from the old "friends and family" never ends...

My JW Mothers' Words Of "Love"
by Ranchette inwell, i just received a letter from my mom and i dont know how to describe my feelings at this time.
i thought id share parts of it with you and see what yall think.
i will delete names and add my own words in parenthesis to describe whom shes talking about.. after a few lines of small talk she says this..........i do want to tell you, since (you and your husband) have rejected the truth, i am so glad (your son) is not old enough to join or be drafted into the military.

unbelievable.....this sounds like my mother in law....almost to the letter. It's amazing how some JW's tread the same mental line...even now it makes me sick to my stomach.
