i don't post often and many of you seem to be relatively new to the board, so you may not know me or my situation.
i've been struggling with some the usual issues that are commented on here on a regular basis.
last sunday the elders finally asked me why i haven't been in service for the last two months.

calling all lost sheep!
it is not too late.
i have been an observer of this site for some time now.
Yeah, help me to understand why elders supported my abusive father for 20 years.
Help me.

hey all, i received this in email today at work.
i always find these remember things funny, 70's or 80's.... but as i was reading this list, it got me thinking about some of the things i don't truly remember (okay, i remember but they were no-no's) because of my jw enforced childhood.
so here's the list with some of my comments:.
VOLTRON F-ING ROCKS!!!!
when you're in here, and someone is crying about message-board injustice, do you get the urge to say the most sarcastic, caustic thing that comes to mind?
do you have to stop yourself?
i do.. i don't know if it's the old jw 'laugh at the next guy who's not as good as you' syndrome, but i have the silly urges to body-slam people with my words.. before september 11th, i always used to say, "i hate people.
Englishman-I know what you mean
Bils-appropriate story...that's usually how I stop myself...

Before September 11th, I always used to say, "I hate people." I thought I did. But, during that horrible week, I was listening to the radio and a kid who's dad was killed in the Pentagon talked about how much he loved his father,; I cried like a baby. I sobbed, fairly uncontrollably, for about an hour. I thought I didn't care about people, but I guess I do.
Why do I still get the urge to castrate people with my words, though? Is this a problem for any of you guys?

how is it that a woman can look at another woman and say, "wow!
" and nobody thinks a thing about it.
but when a man looks at another man and says, "wow!
Interesting thought...as for white people, they can say, I'm proud to have an Irish heritage or a Russian heritage, but never, 'I'm proud to be white."
I don't know why myself.
As for men, I say, "he's a good looking fellow, but then again, I'm married, and an honest opinion isn't terrible. Perhaps just insecure guys worry about it.

today i am leaving for ky, where my jw mother and step father reside.
sometime during this hectic week, we are having a little meeting of our own with them.
you see, my mother has repeatedly disregarded my wishes and have snuck my children to meetings (ages 2, & 3), taken them out in service, put them in direct contact with a paticular elder that we expressed several times that the kids were to be no where around, etc etc.
The other two are right, sweets...get them away before they start thinking you are Satan. Sicker things have happened.

has anyone had any interfaith relationship with a jw that actually worked?
or are they all doomed from day one?
Well, real JW's and "worldy people" don't mix, but I do know that people have been helped to get out; my wife included. It just requires hard work and subtlty.
But, a relationship with a JW? Probably not possible, not without abject misery.

the watchtower society dates noah's flood to 2370 b.c.e.
they do this by following bible chronology quite closely, counting backwards from 607 b.c.e., their date for babylon's destruction of jerusalem.
however, as we know, the society's date for that event is in error.
The Flood may have been caused by all of the other planets being on one side of the earth at the same time. God may have inserted the "youngest" planet Neptune they said on the other side of earth to act as a gravitational corrective to make sure it doesn't happen again!"
- The Golden Age
That's just great..so funny.
