explanation: jon burnett, a teenager from south wales, uk, was photographing some friends skateboarding last week when the sky did something very strange.
by diverting his camera, he was able to document this rare sky event and capture one of the more spectacular sky images yet recorded.
Wow, that's impressive. I've never seem anything like that pic before. Awesome.

for those who were raised/born in the truth: .
1. were you ever beaten as a child?
and, i mean where the parent really crossed the line, not just spanking.
Lee,
I found this one from my vaults. I read your poem and remembered some of mine from a long time ago.
I burned a couple thousand of them in a purge I had, right before I got married. I didn't want my wife to see what I had been through, because I had to be strong for her. I only found one from that time.
Toys
A child, I bat the toys away;
beaten, torn, all mercilessly borne;
the child weeps, and weeps alone.
All toys bear tears and laughter
some are left with none.
I weep upon thrones
of shattered toys
the plaything is broken;
this old man weeps and weeps.
All toys bear tears and laughter
a dissembled man weeps, naked.
I really don't write poems with a single thought, I normally run with what images are going through my head at that particular time, and they tend to be a little more abstract, but I'm sure you can see, at least a little of what I felt at that time.

as a jehovah's witness, you know that you cannot practice homosexuality.
it's considered a sin.
if your friend or relative revealed that they were gay, you would be obligated to "report" them to the elders.
My brother in law is a gay-hater, big time. Just mentioning gay people makes him want to hurt someone.
As for me, I think that it might be surprising, but not disturbing. Happiness is the only thing that really matters. No matter who my kids dated, same sex or not, I would just want to make sure that whoever they dated treated them with respect, and didn't abuse them. Gays can adopt, or for lesbians, get a sperm donor, if it's kids that people want.
It's a brave new world out there, and it's really not a big deal to be gay anymore, unless you have a religous or bigoted family.

i just heard this on the news.
he was mauled and critically injured when a tiger mauled his neck and arm.
http://www.cnn.com/2003/showbiz/10/04/roy.attacked/index.html.
9 year old tiger decided enough already.
My wife and I were thinking the same thing.
"Oh, so you want me to tricks again, you bastard? Well, how about this!?! *chomp*
I just think that having the poor tigers in captivity is wrong. They did a special on these guys and others, and the cages they put the tigers in are so small...

I think she comes up with this crap because she's desperate for a stiff one. She must be very sexually dysfunctional herself .
Ha! That's enough to make you hurl.
I think that she just writes this crap to sell books. No normal woman, outside the reaches of high control religion, would do this and believe it would make them happy.

jw's, are as a rule, self-righteous pharisees.
they were the first to "report" you if they believed that you did something not up to standards.
even if you started "thinking" a certain way that might be considered "worldly", you might be talked to by 2 elders to "readjust you in a spirit of mildness.
Maybe this is a Jersey thing, but an elder has never yelled at me, no matter what. Some, in particular one, were snide, nasty and condescending, but for the most part, they just laid down the law in a quiet voice.
The catch is, the quiet ones are the ones who will try to ruin you if you 'disobey' them. The whole speak softly and carry a big stick scenario.

kyria,
On top of all that, my friend's parents had no qualms about beating us either!!
This is the worst thing of all. Community punishment means that parents can go as far as their hate will drive them, and their friends, peers will not look down on them. In fact, it's encouraged and laughed about.
I remember sleeping over a person's house one time, and I heard a couple groups of parents downstairs joking about disciplining their kids.....horrific stuff. They laughed.
That's when I started to know what kind of religion I was in.
People outside of the JWs generally hate abusers, and will report a parent if they know that abuse is going on. Most 'worldly' people are very modern when it comes to recognizing abuse and doing something about it. JWs, as I have seen, ignore abuse if they see it even if they disapprove, and if they agree with abusive method, will encourage it and say, "A beating now is a lot better than dying in Armageddon."
Sick. Sick. Sick.

i think this is a fair question.
as i look back on my life "in the truth", it almost seems.
as if my efforts at self-improvement were in direct relation to my doubts about.
Armageddon Junkies
You're right on the the post. Mant witness are this very thing. Destruction is the only hope they have. They use that fear to numb all of their drive, ambition, true love for people, and patience, in favor of deeming everything on earth destruction-worthy.
I know some people who were in mags, were the toast of assemblies. They gave up on addiction for another, and many times, were much more dangerous to their families and children than when they were gamblers, drunks, drug addicts, abusers, because the WTBTS enlabes bad people to channel their bad energy into other things; domintating their families with Armageddon threats. Many times it plays out as horrible abuse.

I hardly ever got spankings, the evil eye my mother possessed was enough for me.
You see? Now, that makes sense. Parent's should be able to discipline like that. Sometimes, you have to yell at your kids, take things away, punish them if they do something wrong by using non-violent means. It can be done, and still raise good kids. What hurts worse, a two minute spanking, which just incites hatred, or being denied snacks (for little kids), denying them car privilidges, etc? These things work.
Now, obviously, you can go overboard and punish your kids for every little thing, and make them insane by non-violent means, but most parents who use non-violent methods know what means more and hurts less for kids....take away a privilidge, don't beat them senseless. It just makes little kids into monsters.
