Prevalence of JW Suicides - Real or Imagined?

in one or two recent threads i've seen reference to the possibility of a rising number of jw suicides being another of the organization's very dark realities about which it is vigilant in keeping concealed from its pub populace.

is there anyone reasonably informed regarding this?

is there reason to suppose the incidence ratio among jws is any higher than among any peoples/religion?

My wife tried to kill herself, almost successfully, and I was about to attempt when someone found me-

IT'S REAL PEOPLE. VERY REAL.

Life was absolute hell for me and my wife.

But, now we're out and ok.

Life is grand, although I thought at one point was futile, for certainly I would be among the 'goats'.

Exercise--Is It For Christians?

Germanjw is right, exercise in the morning field service(conform, conform, conform), a cold bedroom and a watchtower at night(conform, conform, conform)-two things great for a teenager's psyche!

German, I am not a pretty man, but I needed a bit of that freedom thing in my developing years, a lot of which comes with participating in sports and such. You know, I just grew up a baptised publisher in the "truth", I don't know what I'm talking about.

i have an 8yr old step-daughter caught up in the madness of the jws through unrelenting fear based brainwashing by her mother.

my husband and i would like to know if anyone has been in a similar situation and is able to help us let her know that there is another more loving way of living in this world.

its frightening to see the damage my husbands ex is doing to this inocent little girls mind.

i just wanted to say that reading this thread made me feel better, even if it for just one little girl's welfare. Just make her life loving and enjoyable. This is from someone who until recently (fairly) was a child. I remember it clear-if it wasn't for my mother's resonable qualities (she was a JW but had a conscience), i wouldn't be here. i would have found some way to escape.

she will see the difference; I'm sure she won't opt for unhappiness when she has a clear alternative. good luck.

We are forgetting something.

those of us who are no longer jw's were jw's at one point in time, correct?.

we all know for a fact that 95% of jw's do care - so much - that they endure mosquitoes, heat, cold, fire ants, rabid dogs, loss of personal income, spend their free time dedicated to helping others, and much much more to help assholes who hate them to help save their lives.. please - do not carry anger towards these people, because we were once like them (blind.

) it is not their fault they are wrong - because at one point in time we were all like them.

I think it's hardest to be sweet to them when they are condescending, rather than when they argue with you. There's nothing worse than being pitied.

The 'i feel so sorry for you' approach they take put's me at the border of insanity. It reminds me of all the malipulation I suffered.

I think I'm angry because I'm realistic.

1.What "good" witness would listen to me?
2.If they did, how would they react? Scorn? Rage? Incredulity?

The Lure Of God

in just a few years all of us here will be forgotten, we will be dead and buried.

all our dealings will mean nothing.. ok there may be a few written works flying around for awhile, that some us have taken part in, and maybe a few of us may have been able to effect some changes for the good of some.yet all this can and probably will be reversed in a blink of an eye.some new cult or ruler will arise and start the whole cycle of pain over again.. the earth anyway, as a limited lifespan.

if mankind does not destroy itself, either our sun or some comet will.. so everything will end one day, as if no life ever existed here on earth, no rememberance, no purpose, no nothing.. so does it pay to dwell on the "big picture" of life?.
