Technically I'm an 18 because I have 18 pages of posts and 1 page of topics. But my 1 page of topics is really only half a page, and I think I should really be a 36.

Circuit Overseer Explains How The Internet Is A Trap!
by minimus inmy mother told me that the co gave a talk on how a spider spins his web and it can take a very long time for the web to be made but just like that--- before you know it---it can catch its prey and devour it.
it's the same with the world wide web, the internet.
there are reports, according to the co, that in new york, a very prominent "anointed" man was disfellowshipped and he has his owm website where he has answered many jws questions.

Afterall, just because people learn the 'truth about the troof' doesn't mean they now magically stop needing whatever 'fix' of self-righteousness they were getting from their involvement with JWs.
Lady Lee, I think that's a good point. I hang out on bnet JW debate sometimes and the apologists there know every detail of all the scandals, they just deny that it matters. I get the impression that self-righteousness is all it's really about for them.

I think I enjoyed meetings and service when I was really little, because it was the whole and entire social life my family had. I liked the attention when I got called on and got the answer right (okay, a clever chimp could get the answer right, but I was five, so I was pretty proud). All the fun of it wore off pretty early and there's nothing I miss now except being innocent enough to enjoy such simple-minded things.

my reaction
by wasasister ini saw just enough of the beheading video to cast me in a terrible depression.
that - added to the prison abuse still photos - leaves me wondering why humans continually sink to such depravity.
(i never thought i'd be saying this, but i'm sick of seeing naked men.

I like the idea of reincarnation, although I try not to "believe in" anything, not too strongly anyway. But I found that not having any spiritual beliefs got very empty and boring after 20 years.

I've actually almost forgotten them, since it's a long time ago now. There are two things I remember. My mother didn't want to spend the day traipsing back and forth to the bathroom so she would only let us eat oranges, not drink anything, and in Pasadena in summertime it is really hot and dry, it was just miserable. The other thing was a little boy in the bathroom, crouched on the floor sobbing while his mom waled on him with a leather belt. She just didn't stop. Everybody in the bathroom looked uncomfortable but they didn't say a thing, spare the rod and spoil the child, right? Besides, jdubs do NOT call social services on each other. So, to sum up, what's left of my memory of assemblies is not pleasant.

I was born rebellious and raised JW, so I had a pretty horrible childhood. I started running away from home when I was 14 and finally walked away at 15, and I've been getting on with life's ups and downs ever since, with a lot of good luck and good help from (Worldly) people along the way. Whenever I'm inclined to piss and moan about things, I just think, however bad this is, it's not as bad as being a JW was! (Had to fiddle with the punctuation to get that down to three sentences. I think I cheated really.)

Getting completely and totally legless at Friday lunch time, being woken up at midnight by the bus driver at a bus depot two hours away from where you live, sleeping in the park, and when you finally get home finding that your face has been painted blue. And doing it all again on Saturday night.
Or is that not the sort of thing you meant?
