  how common it is to see this in the witnesses.

  there are different definitions of nesters, but the one i am here using is children who are old enough where they should have left home, who are still permanently living with their parents.

  i am also discounting those who, for lack of opportunity or for timing reasons are living with parents until other arrangements kick in.

  I believe you have hit on a good point.

  There are probably more nesters (by your definition) still at home with parents than non dubs.

  Economics is a big factor. Low paying jobs, lack of education, therefore lack of real career opportunities.

  I believe that many of the parents are okay with ths arrangement, because they have crappy low paying jobs and they need their childrens income to help sustain their household.

  I also believe that many parents think that if their children still live in the household, they are protected from having sex. Of course this is false more times than true, but it does give the parents a huge level of control, well past whats normal or healthly for their children.

  But, what do you expect form a religion that controls every decision made by adults, in turn the adults tries to control every move of their children.

  I am 100% sure now, but it took me many years to get to this point.

  I was raised as a dub from birth, so my entire belief and value system, was to tied the religion. I second guessed my decision and for years I even defended the dubs even when I stopped being active.

  When you are bombarded with propraganda, either at the hall or from your parents throughout your formitive years. its hard for you to separate what's your thoughts and beliefs are and what's the religion.

  It wasn't for me going to college and getting to know people who were not dubs, I don't know if I would have ever left the "troof".

  How Many Entire Families That You Know Of Stayed "In The Truth"?

  most kids that grew up "in the truth", that i knew of did not stick around.

  and if they did, they were "in the truth" in name only.

  they played both sides and were considered "weak".. do you know of entire families still in without any defection??

  Me and a friend took a survey recently about this very same question.

  Our survey included anyone under 12 that attended our congo during the years of 1970 and 1980.

  We may have missed one or 2 families, but for themost part, we were able to track down almost everyone from that time period.

  We stay in contact with at east someone in each of these families, or we are related, or we stay in contact with some on who stays in contact with the family.

  Our findings -

  Every family that we grew up with us in the "truth" had at least one child who was no longer a dub.

  At least 75% of all the young people our age, were DA, DF, or inactive today.

  90% of us did not complete college

  out of 18 marriages, only 3 were still together

  Out of 26 2nd generation children only 4 were baptized and they were at least 16 before they were baptized.

  Some one gave me an the first wife a leather Bible engraved with our names on it for our wedding talk.

  Did I mention the the it was white leather?

  I guess it symbolized our virginal condition entering into marriage.

  Well at least the bible was a virgin!

  Attending meetings while on Holidays

  so how many of you actually attended meetings when you went away on holidays?

  remember, you shouldn't take a holiday from jehovah!.

  when me and my mother went to visit my uncle in 1987, we attended every stinkin' meeting, including a congregation baseball game.

  In the 80's many of the younger Dubs would go on weekend ski trips and dude ranches.

  The elders made sure that since we were all teenagers to early 20's, an elder and MS had to go along to conduct the Sunday Spytower meeting.

  Of course many of us were too tired from partying the night before, so attendance was about 50% of the people on the trip.

  It makes no sense tome now, althogh at that time, I thought it was a good thing.

  Why did you get married?

  as a young dub in the 80's me along with many of my friends got married, either in our teens or early 20's.. in my area, if you were over 25 and not married, it was percieved that something was wrong with you or you were probably engaging in sex with a "worldly" person.. by why did so many of us feel the need to get married so young?.

  i believe it was because of one of three reasons.. 1. you wanted to get out of your parets home.. 2. you had already gone "too far" with you girlfriend or boyfriend.. 3. you were just an average normal teenager and you knew this was the only way you could legally have sex.. .

  was this true in your area?.

  a card I received that reallly upset me

  a couple fo days ago two witnesses knocked with their children, they gave me flowers and a card with the following message:.

  "we want you know that we love you, and that you are in our prayers..we are thinking about you.. we remember too, and are grateful for yur support in the past, especially 6 years ago, when you came to the home, following our loss of dennis (not his real name).. in these last days, life is harder then ever.

  satan is trying to break all of us, be it through health problems, the ones we love and even our brothers and sisters where it hurts the most.

  It like being hit below the belt, when the Dubs use emotional ties to lure you back into their fold.

  This happens to me on a regular basis and even though I should be used to it by now, it still affects me.

  Just stand firm in your beliefs.
