I enjoyed the gatherings and I thought I had a lot of friends.
I also believed I had all the answers and I was better than "worldly people" in God's eyes.
I don't miss a group of old geezers in Bklyn telling me what I could or could not do.
while i didn't like being a jw there were 1 or 2 good points.
what was your favorite thing about being a jw?.
mine was all the parties and social gatherings we had.

i don't know if this has been posted.... *troubles continue to mount for staff at the source.
the rap magazines editor-in-chief dasun allah recently turned himself in to police after he was charged with desecrating a jehovah's witness assembly hall in new york.. .
"they [jehovahs witnesses] known why i did it," allah said outside the 32nd precinct station house in harlem.
Dasun Allah, was a guest host on a popular morning radio show "Star and Bucwild " and he said that he hates the dubs and how they destroyed his family.
He freely admitted that he did the vandalism and expects to have his day in court.
I guess everyone has their way of showing their protest of the Borg.
I almost forgot, he also said the there a 2 members of the Wu Tu Clan? that are also ex dubs.

jehovah's witness shoots wife
a bible-thumping bronx man gunned down his estranged wife and then killed himself after accusing her of straying from their faith and sleeping with another man, police and neighbors said yesterday.
I read this article this morning.
Really very sad.
I have a friend who lives in the Bronx and I'm sure that he knows this couple. I'll fill you guys in on more details later.
.
how many of you stayed in the "lie" longer than you believed it was true because you needed financial support from someone in the borg.. i know i stayed longer than i wanted to so that i could become financially independant from my parents and therefore i could do as i pleased without the financial ramifications.

forgive me if this has been brought up before, but another thread reminded me of a few on-stage snafoo's.
anybody got any good ones?
like that made you lol?.
I got one funny, one not funny, but embrassing.
1. My dad actually studied with the dubs in the early 70's. Anyway he was in a demonstration on the service meeting and it called for him to get angry at my mother for trying to witness to him. My dad the great actor grabbed his newspaper and threw it on the table and stormed off the platform in a huff. Well when as he got out of his seat to storm off the platform he ripped his pants from back to front, it made a huge sound. Dad was so embrassed he nearly stopped going to the hall at all.
2. As an elder was giving the sunday talk, his oldest daughter that married an MS who was physically and emotionally abusing her came on to the platform, sat on one of the end chairs and cried "Daddy please help me". She then started to urinate on herself. Apparently she had tried to leave her husband and move back home with her parents, but her Dad wouldn't hear of it.
She was eventually hospitalized. I don't know what happened to her, but it was very sad.
i remember scanning real money and with photoshop pasting the picture of an elder on the bill over the face of the queen.
then i printed many bills.
it looked very real.
I told the elders to kiss my BLACK ASS when they told me I was going to be DF.
Does that count as controversial?
.
a pot roast?
lol...i heard of it years ago so i thought i would try it out tonight!
My mom uses beer in her fried chicken.
Pretty tasty!
.
i can't think of many benefits of growing up a a dub but i do remember that i always viewed the other dub kids as brorthers and sisters and they became my support system amongst the "worldly people".
i remember going into a new neighhood or a new school and knowing that once i met the dub kids there, i would automatically have friends and i would not be alone.. this was especially comforting to me because i was an only child, and many times i entered into a new school not knowing anyone and sometimes being the only black kid in the class, my dub peers made me feel welcome and accepted me into the circle immediately.. for many years i feel special to be part of this worldwide brotherhood, and i am sure it is the reason why now i am inafriad of changes and/or new surroundings.. did you have similar experiences?.

i just saw this movie this weekend and i highly recommend it.. this movie depicts how edward r. murrow openly fought sen. mccarthy and his witch hunt for communist sympathizers.. it is a fact that many peoples lives were ruined because rumored or fabricated information was provided to the anti american activities commission about so called communist affilations.
there was one striking example of how a woman who worked for the armed forces as a transmitter was accused of being a communist.
she lost her job and was called to testify in front of the committee and never were her accusers identified or was any information regarding the accussations every shown to her or her attorney.

Meanwhile her carreer and reputation had been ruined.
It reminded me of the position that many of us have found ourselves in while we were Dubs. A rumor or lie can convict you of being an apostate, with the resulting damage that can happen to because of the accussation.
At the core of this story is the fact that association with people with differing ideolgies does not mean that you are disloyal to your own belief structure.
The duds have this same problem. Why can't you read information that is different from their beliefs.
I applaud those who have stood up to those tyrants that would label you as a traitor just because you have a thrust for knowledge and want to examine material other than whats published by the WTBS.
i'll be as upfront as this documentary filmmaker was in his story telling: i'm a survivor of eleven years of sexual abuse at the hands of my father.
my 3 siblings also were abused as were other children.
besides them telling me, i often witnessed the incidents.
I also saw this movie a few years ago.
What left a lasting impression on me was that the family looked normal by all standards, and the were well thought of in their community.
Very Disturbing.
