reading simon's post about how things used to be i started thinking about how the internet has changed things.

many believe the internet and the freedom of information it contains will be the undoing of the wts.. when i was a jw, there were a few dfings but maybe one a year or even less.

people drifted away but we really didn't pay a lot of attention unless it was a close friend.. in here we see new people coming in all the time.

Never heard of the internet then.
Made my decision to leave when an elder started a sick rumor about me.
At that point, I was'nt sure it was the "truth" anymore.
I thought what Purplev thought
I would rather be dead than live forever on earth with nothing but JWs around me, and I despised meetings and FS more than anything else in the whole world. So I thought I'd go "worldly" and enjoy whatever few years I had remaining having fun.

Okay... How many of you ski or snowboard?

i grew up on alpine ski's, took up snowboarding for a while, until it got incredibly boring, and now i've been into tele-skiing for about five years now.

i just love it!

before my accident, i could jump-telemark nearly any slope.

I learned how to ski about 3 years ago...and I am hooked !!Been to Mammoth and Mt. Shasta. Unfortuantly I live near the coast in sunny California and don't get to go very often. Thinking about moving closer to the mountains....just love that sport...what a blast!!

it's an addiction that i have tried to stop since i was a young boy.

my friends and loved ones have tried to encourage me to quit, but i just can't.

when i used to attend meetings, i would feed my addiction right there in the kingdom hall.

What's really happening when you "crack" your knuckles is that you are either pushing the joint back into or out of its normal position. Joints are the meeting points of two separate bones which are held together by connecting tissues and ligaments . A thick, clear lubricant (made mostly of carbon dioxide and some nitrogen) called synovial fluid is found between the bones. When you stretch or pull your finger to get that desired popping noise, you are causing the bones to pull apart. Pressure is reduced on the synovial fluid and bubbles form that quickly expand and then burst - which is why you get that noise.
Not everybody's joints crack. Some people have a larger separation between the bones and some people can't relax enough to allow the bones to separate. If you can crack and your mom tells you, you're going to get arthritis, she's just yanking your chain. There is no scientific evidence that cracking your knuckles leads to arthritis

Why we never died in a car wreck is beyond me. For fun my mom (she was so cool...or maybe she was insane) would drive us out in the country in her blue Crysler Cordoba. She would open the sun roof put it on cruise control and sit on top of the car(through the sunroof) with her feet steering the wheel. We thougt that was awesome.
My dad would take us for long drives when he was drunk as a skunk...no seat belts of course!
Ahhhhhh...life was good!!
