I would say that it is only by not ignoring it but really looking and seeing through it that we can move on and let it die, put it to rest as it were. Until you do that you are only spinning your wheels and struggling with yourself, and that is only a half conscious attempt to resolve it at best.

Is It A Good Thing To Ignore Our JW Past??
by minimus indoes showing our upset or anger regarding our life as witnesses a good thing or a bad thing?
personally, i feel that everyone of us has to express whatever feelings for however long time it takes to heal.
(i'm not talking about carrying the same anger or hurt for 25 years).

San Jose, CA to Texas - via IH-10
by Jim_TX inokay... this is _sorta_ a 'reunion' - so i posted it here.. i will be flying out to san jose tomorrow (april 27th), and then driving back to texas via ih-10.
(i think we are going to start off by coming through part of los angeles.).
this will take me through all sorts of interesting places that i have never been... (i've been to san jose, ca - but not out ih-10).. anyway... i think that it would be really really really cool if i could meet (even if just over the phone) some of you folks - who might be in this 'path'.. so... if you feel 'brave' enuf to want to meet up with a nerd - and trust that i am not psychotic... neurotic, or any of those other 'otics', then perhaps... if you could pm me... i can give you my e-mail addy, and we could then exchange a phone number or something.. i leave tomorrow... i know this is pretty sudden-like... so... you will need to make a 'coin-toss' decision - and pm me tonight... or no later than tomorrow am.. i hope that i can at least talk to... or meet... one person from this forum in the next few days.

It would be better for me if it was later Wed evening, as my class is at 6:15 - but if nothing else I can just join you guys a bit later. I don't expect everyone to work around my schedule, but just to put it out there I also can't make it tonight, I forget I signed up to volunteer.

Hi Sookie,
I think at this point a question you'd want to ask yourself is whether it is time for you to grieve and get support or is it time to inquire about the nature of life and death. You can do both, but you might find that you are more inclined toward one than the other.
If you want support, it makes a lot more sense to have that unconditionally than ideas which may comfort, but is yet again just a belief like any other belief, if you don't know it is true or not. The thing is, though, someone doesn't need to have any beliefs or give you any ideas to support you.
If you want to really consider the whole life and death business, I offer this: Dying is the same as love, in a sense. Most people think of living and dying in personal terms, which is neither good nor bad, but I think we should point out what it is. When we look at things in general, though, there is life and death all the time - in that there is always change. Even if it is only a slight difference between this moment and the next, the previous moment died, and now this moment is the one that is alive. In the same way people can go through a death when they have a big change in their life, in that they are really a different person after the experience. What I've found is that's not really all that different than the physical body dying, and one of the things that can die is the fear of death itself. So when I say dying is the same as love, I mean embracing all of the changes that arise in life, all the deaths, which is just one side of the coin - the other is what is alive right now. We might call this the process of living. Put another way, it is our awareness of this constant reality of dying that prompts us to appreciate how precious every moment of life is. When you're ready to live that way, you'll find a certain tenderness in the heart, and it is indeed a love.

by The Angry Atheist inthe other day i was walking in the rain and trying damned hard to use my hat bill to shield my smoke when a girl i know pulled up in her car along side me.

I recently met a young girl like that in a class I TA, she's just friendly with everybody and is really open hearted. I don't know what her religious inclinations might be or that she even has any, but that's all I need to know.
I'm not sure what religious humanity means, to me there's just humanity. I think that's what makes some people so approachable, it has nothing to do with their world view. I have no doubt that such people are not a function of their way of thinking, rather it's the other way around - there's something deeper to energize their particular form of faith so it may appear that way.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses Have the Only True Religion
by Theocrat inwhether you're a doubter or another agitator, just look at what the bible says: .
1- jesus started one true christian religion.
after the christian arrangement had been established for some time, the apostle paul under inspiration further showed at ephesians 4:4, 5 that there must be just one body, or group, of true worshipers of god.

But Ona, that doesn't mean one can't dress up the bike to look pretty. At best it would be a cool sleek road bike or mountain bike, and unfortunately sometimes it's like the one in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
By the way, Happy Birthday.

Okay here is another funny one, but it is powerful in a way:
In Big Trouble in Little China, Lo Pan is going on about marrying and/or sacrificing the girl(s) with green eyes and ruling from beyond the grave, and Jack Burton (Kirt Rusell) goes:
"Either that or check into a psycho ward - whichever comes first, huh?"

"Cats and dogs living together - mass hysteria!" - Bill Murray in Ghostbusters
Hey, humor is powerful too!
Okay on a more serious note.. Umm..
"Somebody died - it was me." - Vanilla Sky
Since it's out of context for those who haven't seen it/don't remember I will just say the emphasis can be put on the word was. Another one from the same movie: "I'll see you in another life - when we are both cats."

Well for me Wednesday would be best, I have an early evening class.
By the way, there is also an ex-JW meetup in the south bay. Often the support group situation is fairly casual, but for the strictly social you all might sign up with that if you haven't already. Just go to www.meetup.com and search the topic.

There's an ex-JW support group in the south bay, Snoball is facilitating it. They have a Yahoo group, forget the name but you can do a search..
