Ethical question here, what to do?

hey all, i have a hypothetical ethical question.. i know for a fact (having heard directly from the now-adult) a certain man molested at least 2 children in the the 1970's.

of course at the time this wasn't discussed and the creepo has gotten off virtually scott free.. i just found out some interesting medical information on him and was wondering if this should be shared with his victims.. of course this is hypothetical, right, i work in the health care profession and am bound by law not to divulge personal medical history.. that being said: the information of this guy doesn't have a lick to do with the past.

Avishai- I know what you're saying. However, since this stuff happened so long ago, I believe the law you found wouldn't relate. That, AND the victims would be adults by now and I think it would be up to their discretion to report the abuse. Plus what I've been told is hearsay, not found for medical reasons. But thanks for the document, any way.

And thanks to the rest of you for your opinions. I'll reiterate that I'm aware of the law, and I wouldn't break it. Haven't yet, don't plan on it.

But I was interested in the more human response. Sheila, I feel exactly the same way.

I'm sure you can imagine my mixed emotions to have this particular man show up in my face as a patient. It is very hard to disguise disgust, but I have to do it every day (not to this extent of course) and think I did a pretty good job. Always the professional, as they say.

Lady Lee, question for you, though: You gave a sharp NO. What are your thoughts behind that. You know more than you wrote, can I hear it? Other than the legal aspects, I mean. How would it affect the victims, in your experience?

That being said: the information of this guy doesn't have a lick to do with the past. Its just interesting. It's along the lines of "what goes around comes around", "karma"....that kind of thing. Again, it has nothing to do with the past, I'm just thinking the victims might be pleased.

What would you all do in this instance, hypothetically, of course.

CNN , Headline News , and 1914 , hhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!!!!!!!!

saw a great little piece on headline news or cnn the other night, they showed a memorial celebration of the 90th year of world war one.

now think about this, how many veterans do you think attended from world war one ???????.

the one veteran who layed down a wreath, was 108, and he talked a little, the best he could, and thanking his fellow war heroes.. this piece really hit home with me, because, didn't the watchtower once say, the generation of 1914 will not pass away, remember the early teaching, "they would have to be able to understand the things going on", "first started with 15 years olds, then ten year old, then can't be babies born, then can be babies born.

It seemed so weird to me, when I was in, that I could feel so proud when seeing war vets, yet it was so "bad" to be patriotic.

I wish I had seen that piece on the news. Because now I can get teary eyed with no guilt, and feel proud of our great grandparents and of what they did for us.

And Shamus, I remember in early 90 thinking: "Wow, this is like, probably the first year of the great tribulation. Neat. Paradise is coming soon. Cool." Obviously, I was 13, but it seemed so exciting to me.

WT makes everything a conscience issue

the wt would make everything easy for themselves if they made everything a conscience issue -i know i have stated this before but it is so true.

they would save any lawsuits, they would stop losing people, the brothers would be happier , no dfings, no judicials, less burden on the elders, brothers training their consciences - i just can not see a downside

The Latter Day Saints (Mormons) do this and it seems to work well for them. I've always thought they had a lot more personal choice than the Witnesses. However they do still disfellowship some of their own members, so there is some point of reckoning. Unlike the Witnesses, though, they keep that knowledge private, only between their bishop and the one in trouble.

How cool would that be? My family wouldn't be ripped apart at the seams. I can't even imagine.

Believable Or NOT!!!!

i don't know about everyone else but i just want to get these stories of godly/demonic intervention out of my system.

hope it doesn't bore you but some are a good laugh now but i truly believed them and some i still believe.. 1. don't open that cabinet- one day my dear step mother was cleaning the kitchen and needed something out of a cabinet that was rarely used.

there was a plastic cake dish that makes this very audible noise when trying to close it(lil cheap cake from winn dixie).

I guess the only one I can remember was the urban legend about the smurfs. Here's the midwest version I remember.

A lady with a new born baby hung a picture of smurfs above the crib. One of the smurfs hopped out during nappy time and killed the baby with a nail studded club. Gross.

Try telling a 6 year old that story, and see if they ever watch cartoons again. I grew up pretty certain that Gargamel was Satan in cartoon form.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES & Book BURNING (CDs TOO!)

ok, i admit it...as a jehovah's witness, i burned a book.

when i was about 10 years old, a sister gave my mother a box of books.

i had been baptized for over a year and was quite the "little witness.

I emptied out my service bag 2 weeks ago. I had no idea what to do with all of the stuff. So I filled my fire pit out back and burned them. This included my first copy of the NWT. Its so surreal. I don't even know what I'm supposed to feel, but I didn't feel anything. Wierd, huh?
