Why not just leave religion alone altogether?
by dawg ini was wondering why many of you turn to to other religions after being freed from the foolishness of the jw's?
after i relieved myself of the burden of the foolish witnesses, i was able to understand god in my own fashion and i've never felt better.
many religions pratice mind control similar to the wittnesses so why not free yourselves from all of them?

Some outrageous counsel I received once ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles ini was reading an earlier thread about ridiculous counsel and i just had to share this one with everyone.. you know how sometimes around christmas time merchandisers would package their products in a more "festive" wrapper?
the largest bread company here does that every year.
well one yuletide season (when i was about 7 years old), i was helping myself to a couple slices of bread and my aunt saw me.

Is the JW message being preached "to the ends of the earth"?
by sir82 ina few ruminations on the annual report in the february 1 watchtower (numbers are rounded & approximate - don't jump all over me if i'm a little off!):.
if you add up the "population" figures for all the countries listed, you get approximately 4.4 billion.
that means that there are about 2.5 billion in the "other countries" not listed - primarily china and islamic countries.. however, there are only about 13,000 jws in those "other countries not listed" to preach to those 2.5 billion people.. throw in india, with a population of 1.1 billion, and you end up with about 3.5 billion of the planet's population.

The "preaching work" is a disaster. All I had to do was go around the housing development I live in to find NOT ONE person as having an inkling of what the Dubs message is about. If god were to destroy "his creation of mankind" on the JW premise billions would die.

personally, i suffered a great deal in the truth because of independent thinkingthinking like satan.. what about youre experiences?as a witness, did you feel doubts or questions come into your mind and if you dared, .

i can not get a grip on the whole "no longer a JW" annoucements...
by ?me? inthe whole thing seems wrong.
ok not withstanding a long heated disfellowshipping thread, how can they say you are no longer a jw?.
jehovah always sees you as a witness of his, maybe a bad witness, or a sinful one, but one nonetheless.. was david not a servant of jehovahs when he made mistakes, or peter when he coward?

I think watchtower has winnowed that announcement down to what it is, due to being liable for possible slander and deformation of character. God has nothing to do with it.

Your Opinion Wanted-What should really be done to child molesters?
by avidbiblereader ini have not tried to hide my past as a victim of this, but this is always an area that i have to fight my personally feelings as to what should be done to child molesters.
they ruin lives, scar an individual for a lifetime!.
should they be incarcerated for life, castrated, turned over to the family member(s), public humiliation like a branding everywhere they go, tortured and or death penality?.

The field service report
by James Free inwhenever i read the bible, about prayers and giving gifts in secret, and not letting the right hand know etc.
it became clear to me that handing in a report with my name on was unscriptural.
my elder friend even agreed - but said we gotta do it anyway.

We'd pin reports with no names on the information board, and leave them there until someone got sick of looking at it, and then throw it in the trash. It was quite the loving thing to do.
