Most of the graduates are from either Africa or politically upset places (probably better ways to phrase that). As was pointed out, only one couple from USA and one from Canada. None from the UK. Hmm....interesting demographics.

THE GRAND APOSTATE "WALKOUT" - January 1, 2015
by RagingBull inafter knowing ttatt for many years now...i had made up my mind long ago that after 2014, i would no-longer subject myself to the boredom, pain, and frustration of following this cult...the wt...the borg.. so...i made up my mind that since the wtbts/gb makes such a big deal as to the "significance" of the year 1914 and this year 2014, there can be no greater time for me to leave it all behind.
i daydreamed of how awesome and telling it would be if everyone that could ( because i do know that some have personal circumstances of their own, as i did too) would just .... walkout...never to attend/step foot in a kingdom hall from that moment on.. independence day of sorts?
there is too much evidence, too many videos, blogs, books, news reports and lawsuits for me to keep lying to myself.

This does seem to be a pivotal year........kind of like 1999. I left that year, not by any sort of plan. I just did...and so did a LOT of others. I'm thinking this might be a year like that for the Watchtower. 1999 was a BAD year for the Watchtower.

My personal movie review: Darren Aronofsky's NOAH
by Terry innoah, my movie review.
you may have already judged this film and you've never seen it!
like many of its critics, you think you know what you're going to see and .

Good review Terry! I haven't seen the movie but want to. It was the Genesis accounts that always baffled me the most when I was a JW and after getting out, reading The Book of Enoch accounts fleshed out the stories quite a bit. Aronofsky seems to be throwing a lot of that in and that is as it should be. Not much of a story just from the Bible account. Also the fact that he's had boots on the ground doing anthropological work and field biology....a serious man indeed. Being a so called 'tree hugging' Pacific Northwesterner I think I will like this particular Bible film. Thanks for the review!

What is the main "idea" of the bible?
by KateWild inas jws we were often told what the theme of the bible is, we were taught that it was the promised seed.. i was recently asked the question.... what is the main "idea" of the bible?.
for me the whole purpose of the bible is about control.
it features a god that punishes and rewards.

To 'a watcher':
"His own marvelous personality! "
You must be joking. The god of the Bible has the personality traits of the likes of Hitler!

The positive side of this (maybe) is that he is intelligent. That intelligence may manifest in his leaving the cult sooner than later. The downside is that truly gifted and intelligent children in the religion probably suffer even more than the rest.

The great flood happened about 13,000 years ago....
by EndofMysteries ini just learned this information the past couple of days but it seems it's been out the past couple of years.

If you look at google earth night view you'll see that people (lights) are all around the edges of continents. Humans seem to migrate to the edges...I think that fact hasn't changed over the history of humankind. What stands out to me with this knowledge is this:
The coastal regions would have been impacted the most during the rapid meltdown of the last ice age. What happened at that time...my bet is extraterestrial impact...was catastrophic. Many people (those that survived because they were away hunting or whatever) from diverse places would have fantastic flood and inundation stories. It does not 'prove' the Bible flood story as the be all end all story. It is just one of many.

Do You Honestly Believe That You Would Have Officially Left The JW Religion If They Didn't Shun You?
by minimus ini left as an inactive person.
i pretty much have been left alone by the elders and witnesses, as far as being hounded.. i know of many that either disassociated or got disfellowshipped.. i'm wondering if you think you would have remained a jw, in name only, if the religion (cult) didn't shun and penalize as they do..
-

If they stopped shunning and people could talk freely the religion would fall apart. This is their last line of defense against reality. They'll not give up shunning.
In answer to your question, shunning or not shunning did not factor into my leaving. I would have left anyway.

I don't even remember exactly when I 'lost' my card but I'm sure it was while cleaning out my purse of all junk paper stuff and the card went out with the junk.

Counteract jw.org August 2014 Campaign!
by jw07 inthere was a letter read at the last meeting indicating a push to advertise jw.org door to door in august 2014.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/273040/1/four-boe-letters#.uv8l4vldv1e.
many of those who the witnesses prey upon will no doubt search for additional information on the internet.. let us use the extra attention against the watchtower!.
- there are many of us on active on this site.. - most of the widley used search engines (google, yahoo, bing etc) show autocomplete results.. .

The LDS beat out JWN and I suspect it's because the members of both Mormon and Jehovah's witnesses exclusively go to their own site and not others. Most other people are more diversified in their interest and use multiple sources to get information. Jehovah's witnesses are strongly advised to ONLY go to the 'mother' where all research has already been done for them. The hits are from the members mostly.
Former Jehovah's witnesses do not suffer from megalomania. We know that we are in a very small minority place trying to battle a monster who has broken our families apart.

Can we excuse the R&F for ever ?
by Phizzy ingenerally i go along with it when posters express pity and sympathy for the r&f jw's.
i feel this way toward them too, to a degree.. but where do we draw the line ?
we know that jw's do not have a conscience of their own really, they are told how to think and act, and they have to obey.. just as those living in nazi germany were told how to think and act, and had to obey.. but, " i was just following orders " was not taken as a valid defense at nuremburg.. as the wt descends in to becoming more and more like north korea in its do not question, simply obey !

Recenly a friend went on line and found my daughter's FB account, or at least some pictures of my grandson that weren't private. I don't have a FB account otherwise maybe I could have seen them but no matter, I went over and sat at her computer and looked at pictures of my daughter and grandson who just turned 3. Under one of the pics my daughter had written, "I think he (son) looks like my dad. I can't wait for my dad to meet him (son) in the paradise."
Her dad died in 2001 and he died NOT believing in the religion anymore; especially not the GB that direct it. For all intents an purposes he died an apostate but my daughter refuses to believe this. She is towing the line with the shunning of her mother who is very much alive and all her siblings so that she can make it to her paradise and see her daddy again. Her dad was a very strict and emotionally distant father and she wasn't even that close to him as a child and young adult. But he died so he has a hope. I guess if I died my 'apostacy' would be dismissed in her mind as well.
My daughter is mentally unstable is what I'm thinking. I blame the GB for all the commands they have made keeping her separated from her family who love her and could have helped her. She already had anxiety and depression problems and now............untreated is she just going to go further downhill mentally? Do I blame her for this spiral down or the GB?
I think it's clear who I won't excuse or forgive.
