  Women as elders

  not that i would ever go back but valis brought up an interesting subject in another thread.. what would the borg be like if... .

  they let women be elders?.

  they treated women as equals?.

  My church has both men and women priests. Women are also bishops. However, the organizational structure of our church is very different from that of the Watch Tower. Sure the JWs could have women elders, they could even put women on the Kingdom Governing Body (KGB), but would it really make a difference? The Watch Tower is a totalitarian religious system, and merely adding women to positions of leadership to oppress the rank and file will not change it. Only with democratic reforms that will add checks and balances to those in power, will the system be transformed into a more positive religious movement.

  Have you noticed this in the Organization?

  back when i was attending kingdom halls in our circuit i noticed a lot of 'drop dead gorgeous' women married to the geekiest looking guys.

  i always asked myself how these 'dorks' did it!.

  was this because selection was limited or was this just a peculiarity in our area?

  I have attended a number of churches since leaving the JWs and they all have beautiful women. Since the KGB has mandated a dress code for JWs their women as a rule don't attend the KH wearing informal attire. Because JW women dress up special for the meetings this may make them look better in the eyes of the public than those who attend churches that are less formal. However, some years back I attended SDA services and the women in that church really dressed up. They would put the JWs to shame. However, I don't think that God has a dress code.

  Time travel- if you could...would you?

  i was recently looking at a picture that showed my city almost a hundred years ago.

  i started trying to imagine the scene, but in color, and what it would have been like.. they say if time travel was possible, you must be careful, for what you do could alter the future.. though i know it is not possible, i think it would be fantastic to do so.. so, would you do it if you could?

  what time era would you go to?.

  Time travel would be interesting. I would like to go back to Petrograd in October 1917. Heathen, you might also find Petrograd (St. Petersburg) to be a fascinating place. Are you still interested in a Russian bride? There are a number of Russian ladies living here on the West Coast who might be interested in meeting you.

  the reporter spent 8 months with this um, person.

  i cannot believe how bizarre mr. jackson is.... and it has given me the willies.

  Should We All Go to Memorial- And Partake ?

  should we all go this year and partake of the emblems?.

  i think it would be a real nice project for us !!!!!!!!!

  Hi Heathen. I am currently dating a Russian lady, actually she is Ukrainian. She has lived in the US for six years and knows that most Americans are not rich and that the streets are not paved with gold. She didn't speak English before she came to this country, but she has learned enough so that we can communicate quite well. Though I have to explain American Idiom to her, and she writes down my explaination for future use. She is fun to be with as she is very open to learning new things. I don't know where our relationship will lead, but she isn't seeing me because I am rich. She knows that I am just a regular middleclass American. My recommendation is that if you want to date a Russian woman, find one who has lived in this country for a few years. They are wonderful people and I am very happy that they have come to our shores.
