Cheers. I'm having a Red Tail Ale. Nothing like a great microbrew to finish the day.

Enjoying a beer
by CruithneLaLuna inhi friends,.
i am enjoying a beer, which is nothing remarkable, except that i really like the taste of beer, and haven't had one in a year or so.
it's only a bud light, which some of you beer connoisseurs may look down your noses at (and i appreciate the more expensive and exotic brands, too), but hey, it's a beer, and i haven't had one in a long time!.

Help? What Can I Do? - a response
by Dogpatch ini am passing this on for your information, if you need to give advice (or need advice) for those getting involved in any way with the watchtower.
it is for christians and non-christians, so take what you will from it.
the jehovah's witnesses will want the kids raised as jehovah's witnesses and teach them all of the society's peculiar doctrines behind your back.

Seen any good movies lately?
by StinkyPantz inthe husband and i went to see "house of the dead" the other night, and 30 minutes into it we had to leave because it was so horrible.
rarely have i seen such bad acting outside of a highschool drama performance, and i have never left during a movie.. thing is, i love going to the movies, so it was a major disappointment.
have you seen any good ones lately?

A nun at a Brooklyn construction site.
by Mulan inthis is a joke, but i thought it was funny.
i thought of other sites in brookly when i read it.. an old nun who was living in a convent next to a brooklyn construction site noticed the coarse language of the workers and decided to spend some time with them to correct their ways.
she decided she would take her lunch, sit with the workers and talk with them.

Did You Feel Pressured To Auxiliary or Regular Pioneer?
by minimus ina few times a year, the society really promotes pioneering.they will devote service meeting talks and parts stressing the need to regular or auxiliary pioneer.
at the assemblies and at the district convention, they will try to shame you into pioneering.
they give examples of 85 year old parapalegics that "made room in their lives" to pioneer.

I was a regular pioneer for two years. That was when we were required to put in 100 hours a month. Hated every minute of it.

Reading Apostate Literature.
by Blueblades in.
the wt.society forbids the reading of apostate literature.. they claim that all religions have apostatized.. they claim that the catholic church is an apostate religion.. yet they use the bible that they ( the church ) canonized during the face off of which books should be canonized and which ones should not.. simply put, how does the wt.society know which books are inspired and which ones are not?.

Good point Blondie. Most of the Bible Students that I have talked with claim that Joe Rutherford started the JWS. And, as you noted, Russell's works have little to do with the present Watch Tower belief structure.

THE CELL PHONES of ELDER'S
by Blueblades in.
when they call their number is blocked out.this makes them unavailable when you want to call them.don't even try to call them after 9pm at bethel,no matter what the emergency!they only call you to get you to come to the meetings and go out into field service!.
so now we turned on ( acr ) anonymous call rejection, which allows us to reject calls from callers who have blocked the display of their telephone numbers.now my number will not ring and the caller will hear a message that instructs them to hang up and remove their blocking and call again.. since we did this, elders are not calling us anymore.as i said they want to know your number,so they can call you to come to meetings, otherwise they can't be bothered.they give their cell number to a select few only.the congregation as a whole don't have the elders cell phone numbers.don't try to get them at bethel either, once they know who is calling they hit the ignore button in their head.. really, i can't be bothered by the elders calling me about the same old same old line.but for those who really need some kind of help or information about whatever, this shows that they are not truly shepherds of sheep.. blueblades

Things have certainly changed at the KH since my departure some 20 years ago. However, it is very different with the church I now attend. We have a directory that lists all the active parishioners along with their phone numbers and addresses. Our priest's office and home phone are also listed so he can be easily reached in case of an emergency. But then again my church is part of Babylon the Great. The JW elders are part of Jehovah's Organization, therefore, they are not to be disturbed by the publishers with their petty emergencies.

Hi I am Caspians sister and this is my first day here.
by Lainey inhello this is my first post and i wanted to introduce myself so here goes.. my name is lainey, and i have not been to the meetings for about 4 years now.. i am 28 and work as a doctor in a big city university hospital as a sho.. also for my sins, i am cassies little sis, and i am staying with him for a little while, as i am signed off sick for the next month with a stress related disorder.. after the death of my older bro and my dad within the past few months, i started suffering from terrible nightmares, most of them connected in some way to my witness upbringing.. me and cassie have talked for some length and he suggested that i spend some time having a look on this site and meeting others who have had similar issues to face in life.. i hope you are all are better listeners than cassie, who tends to fall asleep when i am in the middle of talking to him.
(brothers!!!
) btw he hates being called cassie lol.. anyway i am not a big talker, so i probably wont post a lot, however i am going to scout around for a while.. thanks .

Would You Vote For Arnold Schwarzenegger, If You Could?
by minimus inwith all the publicity in california, if you were able to vote in the governor's race, would arnold be your man??

Gray Davis is famous for waging a dirty campaign. Remember the 1990 Democratic Primary? It is very suspicious that all these accusations against Arnold come just days before the election when they cannot be investigated properly. Its a typical Davis hit piece.
Will I vote for Arnold? I am still undecided. I was going to vote my conscience and cast my ballot for Tom McClintock. But this new Davis antic has made me angry enough to vote for Arnold.
