  Trouble for Richie?

  so today, after the meeting, one of the elders from my jc walks up to me and my mother and asks if we had time to talk.

  thankfully, i had to get to work, and mom wasn't feeling great.

  we said today wasn't good.. so basiccally he said that he and another brother want to meet with us on wednsday night, after the tms, to "see how things are going".. so here's quandry:.

  Announced at Service Meetings this week:

  There has been clarification about how the Awake! monthly circulation will be handled. After 2006, the Awake! will be published 1 time monthly, from current semi-monthly production. The magazine will still contain articles "of general interest" but also focus on "Bible topics."

  (The latest Awake! September 22 contains articles on the cattle egret, Bolivian cyrstals, garlic and gold mining with only two token scriptures cited for these 11 pages.)

  JWs are instructed to place the one Awake! all month long with the semi-monthly Watchtower.

  The announcment emphasizes that this does not diminish the need for magazine routes, however JWs are encouraged to start studies from their mag routes.

  JWs are instructed to evaluate their magazine order by September 26, 2005 to make sure it is a "realistic order", and make sure they have enough copies of Awake! for each month.

  There is a specific note that it is still permissible to use old Awake! magazines in field service.

  the wts will be phasing out hard-bound bibles for the public begining later this year.. jws will still be able to order hard-backs for themselves, but hard-bound bibles will not be made available to the public after current stocks are depleted.. soft cover bibles will have a paper cover similar to other publications produced by the wts.. pocket-size bibles with fake leather covers are to be discontinued entirely and will only be available in paperback.. we are a long way from pig-skin folks.. .

  i just returned from ontario, where a family member died, i was reading the obit, and i know its been said millions of times, but this really blew me away.

  "a private family burial at ______ cemetery.

  a memorial service will be held at the kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses on saturday august 13, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. as expressions of sympathy, please send donations to world wide work of jehovah's witnesses.".

  What did the "Godly Obedience" District Conventions really achieve?

  this is a re-print of a post found on e-watchman's discussion board, a public forum.

  it has a few interesting tidbits in there.

  thought you might be interested.. by the way, does jwd have a policy about using posts from other boards, even if credit to the original author is given?.

  My congregation has already had its review of the DC at the Service Meeting.

  I was listening very closely to what people would comment about.

  Highlights were:

  • The pretty pictures in the What Does the Bible Really Teach book
  • The opening talk about how we would all learn obedience (IMO the program afterward launched directly into the recycled content with "obedience" stated every fifth word.)
  • The governing body member who stated during his talk "the most important meeting...is the next one (I've noticed that all JWs have to get excited about is the quips and illustrations - no actual content)

  Not mentioned:

  • The drama of Timothy's fictionalized college decision
  • The baptism figures (very light and underage at my DC)
  • Any real core information

  No Jehovah Witnesses !!!

  around here, in my neighbourhood, there are many apartment buildings, and i remeber as a jw, how many people didn't want to be bothered by us jw's.. so, i took my camera this morning and went around in a few apartment buildings and took pictueres of all kinds of signs on doors, telling witnesses not to knock at their door, and go away !!!.

  on this first picture, it's quite polite.

  it says in french, no solicitor.

  Really, though, for Christians the most powerful reasons for avoiding sexual immorality are derived from our relationship with God. We have learned that he knows what is best for us. Our love for him will help us to hate what is bad. (Psalm 97:10) God is the Giver of "every good gift and every perfect present." (James 1:17) He loves us. By our obedience to him, we show that we love him and appreciate all that he has done for us. (1 John 5:3) Never do we want to cause Jehovah disappointment and pain by breaking his righteous commands. (Psalm 78:41) We do not desire to act in a manner that will cause his holy and righteous way of worship to be spoken of abusively. (Titus 2:5; 2 Peter 2:2) By remaining morally chaste, we make the Supreme One rejoice.—Proverbs 27:11.
