We rejoice to announce that, with Jehovah?s blessing, the new presses and bindery at Wallkill are now in operation. We warmly invite all of you to tour these streamlined facilities. How grateful we are to the brothers and sisters from seven nearby Regional Building Committees who have thus far contributed over 67,000 man-hours to the project! One such volunteer remarked: ?It was more than a privilege. It was a dream come true for me.?
In Brooklyn, brothers are now working diligently to renovate the 117 Adams Street complex in preparation for the laundry and other essential support departments that are relocating there after the recent sale of the 360 Furman Street building. Hundreds of skilled workers from Regional Building Committees across the country are ?offering themselves willingly? in response to a special invitation to assist in this effort. (Ps. 110:3) The first of these volunteers arrived in August. Your heartfelt support of the expansion of pure worship endears you to us and to our appreciative God, Jehovah. ?2 Cor. 9:7.

Re the hard cover vs paper back books: The Walkill NY mega-presses are now online as well as in other branches around the world. The word is that the paper back times are over and the hard cover books will become the norm again.
The idea of just one magazine per month is interesting to me. Don't forget that a semi-monthly mag allows lots of Return Visits and circulation! However a substantial magazine would be a better way to solicit donations.

Sane vs insane: the JW Bubble

(this is of course a popular definition, not a clinical one.).
translation: you are nuts when you see pink dragons and no one else does.. but you are of sound mind when the your judgements make sense to those around you.. so if you are insane, the cure is to surround yourself with other insane people who claim to believe the same things.

But you are of sound mind when the your judgements make sense to those around you.
So if you are insane, the cure is to surround yourself with other insane people who claim to believe the same things. Voila! you are now sane. In fact, everyone else is insane. This is the good part: now you can disregard everything that doesn't match your perception - because they're crazy! If you begin to doubt your belief, you can go back to your group and reaffirm your "reality."
Now lets compare to JWs. They canvass the world looking for "sheep-like" ones (define as: ignorant, victims, unhappy with their reality). "We have a better reality for you, and we can prove it - our worldwide unity." Now that you are one of us, you must go to all the meetings, and recruit new members. Remember the world outside is insane and in the control of the Devil. Don't make any friends outside this group, they are insane ("Satan has blinded the minds of the unbelievers"). If someone tells you what we believe is not true, don't listen to them. Apostates are angry and vindictive (insane?).
What happens when you meet someone and realize they are crazy? Does that condescending smirk appear on your face as the schizophrenic tells you about pink dragons? Does your mind shut off the possiblilty of reasoning with this person? Have you recognized the same reaction from JWs when confronted with reality?

Ok, yes, we are having a debate on what Jesus taught even though we agree the written record about him is highly suspect. My studies of Jesus show a pattern: a person concerned with the injustice of his society - including the burden of the Law.
If you were in this spot, how would you introduce new concepts to a domatic culture? Not by stating "Your Law is bunk!" Instead you would endeavor to use the "good" points of that society to open minds, to find a common ground.
Look what Jesus does for principle versus strict Law code:
He said to him: "?You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.? This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is this, ?You must love your neighbor as yourself.? On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets." Mat 22:37-40
Jews had been dumping their wifes for centuries, in accordance with the Law. Jesus added to the Law here:
He said to them: ?Moses, out of regard for YOUR hardheartedness, made the concession to YOU of divorcing YOUR wives, but such has not been the case from [the] beginning. I say to YOU that whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication, and marries another commits adultery.? Mat 19:8
Stupid traditions were right out:
Why is it your disciples overstep the tradition of the men of former times? For example, they do not wash their hands when about to eat a meal.? Mat 15:3
When it came to healing, Jesus definitely violated the Law:
So on this account the Jews went persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things during Sabbath. John 5:16
including touching lepers (Luke 5:12) and condoning contact from a woman with a flow of blood (Mark 5:25-29), both considered unclean by the Law.
This is why I call Jesus a subversive: Even though he had a revolutionary agenda, he did not make himself an enemy of Jews or the Law. What a smooth statement: "I came to fulfill the Law."

How sad that great ideas get crushed under secular definitions. Paul was the original "apostate" who ignored direction from the governing body of the time ("the older men") and published his teachings/procedures directly to congregations and individuals. I wonder what would happen if a JW tried that today.
Paul discovered he was Christ's messenger after he was struck blind. How appropriate.
