I'll back up Blondie that "The Launching Pad" is a common name for the GB burial site.

by evergreen in.

I remember this WT as an effort to control information within the Org. JWs were using email to spread personal experiences with no malice. Reportedly some urban rumors were circulating as well. Information is power, and the Org knows it.

Trespassing, new rules
by DaCheech inas the temporary book study overseer i have been handed a letter as follows:.
upon receipt of this letter, book study overseers should review the following points with those in their groups:.
* individual homeowners have a right to exclude people from their property by posting a "no trespassing" sign.. * if publishers call on a home or enter the grounds around a home where a "no trespassing" sign is located, they may be subject to criminal prosecution and resulting monetary sanctions and/or incarceration.

Definitely a sign of the times, when JWs shrink back from "God's Laws" to follow man's laws, eh?
Has anyone thought of publicizing this information to the press? Even a simple editorial letter stating the new policy. A few more No Trespassing signs would shut down most rural territories.
Just imagine hearing this announcement: Tired of having Jehovah's Witnesses call on your door? Find out how to stop them. News at 11...

We will see the wreckage and ruin of this so-called diesel civilization, that was too proud and conceited and sophisticated to fit itself to what it considered a camel-train philosophy.

"Draw Close to Jehovah"
by robhic inmy jw girlfriend (i know that's a topic in and of itself) is sick and confined to bed.
yesterday a pioneer lady dropped by with a bunch of magazines and an eight audio cassette tape library of the same name as the title to this thread.
eight tapes in a special, titled, plastic folder/binder to hold them?
-
ezekiel3
I am thinking this 8-tape audio cassette folder must be like a "books on tape" deal for blind people.
The release is also available on CD (MP3 format). The CD versions of publications are increasingly popular with JWs who like to listen in their cars or at home.

Jehovah's gonna get ya. Or is He?
by Lady Lee inok. most of us here at one time believed in the teachings of the wts.
thankfully most of us are beyond that.. i have noticed that at times i will find some other way, any other way, to avoid using the name jehovah.. and i know i'm not alone.
i see what you post!
-
ezekiel3
Thanks Lady Lee for bringing this up.
I have no fear about using "Jehovah" negatively or otherwise. I do have a policy for writing about God (especially on JWD): I never use "He" or "She" when discussing God (does anyone actually believe God has a penis?) and I only use "Jehovah" when referring to the god of JWs.
"Jehovah" is simply a bastardized common name for a Jewish god. A native Jew couldn't say a proper "J" sound if he wanted to.
It is also a clique trigger capitalized by Rutherford to further alienate his cult from normal society.
So Jehovah, since the only one who is watching out for you is the web-shmuck at Bethel assigned to monitor JWD, who is worshipping who right now?

You are the best WT conductor I've ever had, even if you make me study two at a time!
I started a topic on the "Hobby" picture when this WT was first released: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/74723/1.ashx
It is the WT studies (and the general JW feeding program) are the direct cause "of tiring out". There is nothing exciting or enthralling about being a JW today. What do you expect a group of people who have given up thier lives for broken promises to do?
Ooo! Ooo! I know: Put your hobbies in box so that you can spend your time leaving magazines in laudromats because no one else will take them.
Give me a break.

E-watchman is not disfellowshipped!?
by Noumenon ini note that e-watchman has just confirmed that he is not disfellowshipped, despite running an 'apostate' website and having sent 1000's of letters around the us, canada, and bethels around the world.
this from his latest mailbag questions and answers:.
"as for any judicial action taken against me, no, there was none.

Anybody recall where the Society said not to "celebrate" your baptism?
by AlmostAtheist inmy wife recently asked me out of the blue why the society said we're not supposed to celebrate baptism.
i told her that was a good question, i couldn't think of any scripture that forbids it, why don't we look it up?
i remember reading that article, a questions from readers, i thought.

*** w95 4/1 p. 30 Questions From Readers ***
We, as observers at a public baptism, share in the joy of the occasion, especially if the one getting baptized is a relative or someone with whom we studied the Bible. To share fully, however, we ought to listen to the entire discourse with the candidates, hear them publicly answer the questions presented to them, and join in the prayer. Doing so will help us to keep the actual baptism in perspective; we will have God?s view of it. After the act of baptism, our joy does not require a victory parade, a bouquet of flowers, or a party honoring the one baptized. But we could approach our new brother or sister to express pleasure over the wonderful step taken and to extend a very warm welcome into our Christian brotherhood.
In summary, then, all of us, including those who submit to water immersion, ought to treat baptism with appropriate seriousness. It is not a time for outbursts, for partying, or for hilarity. But neither is it a somber or grim time. We can rightly be glad that new ones have joined us on the way to everlasting life. And we can joyfully welcome our new brothers and sisters.Of course JWs took the counsel too far and thus:
*** w96 9/1 p. 21 Living by the Law of the Christ ***
Similarly, the article "Questions From Readers" in the April 1, 1995, issue of The Watchtower cautioned against detracting from the dignity of the occasion of baptism by going to extremes, such as wild partying or staging victory parades. Some have carried this mature counsel to extremes, even making a rule that sending an encouraging card on this occasion would be wrong! -

Spies? Do tell.
by jwbot inso it is well known that this religion has spies...my mom used spies at my school to get information about me.
many haveposted their own experiences about spies.
i want to know more about it on a large scale.. like, "watchers" at a convention?
-
ezekiel3
Like, "watchers" at a convention? I never heard of that! Can someone elaborate?
"Watchers" are men assigned at conventions to post at various elevated locations to watch for problems. They use binoculars and two-way radios to communicate to other "watchers." Each post has at least two brothers, one using the binoculars while the other scans the audience. The "watchers" are a sub-group of "attendants" and can be identified by a black dot on their label badge insert.
