if the wtbts is so into deceiving everyone and trying to reel in as many newcomers as possible, what does it actually have to gain from this?
why are they always trying to switch teachings to make themselves look "believable"?

i'm a catholic male,divorced w/one child from a previous marriage and my current girlfriend is a jw.
her family is also jw and i am trying to establish a relationship with her and be on good terms with her family.

I think thats a great idea. I think my biggest problem would be my fiance's mother, she is a very strong Catholic and will go mad when she finds out about me. I don't think she will have anything to do with me when she does find out. My fiance is not even a practising Catholic!

Hi there,
I am a JW female who is engaged to marry a Catholic man next year. My family and friends all accept him and get on very well with him. I think its how the individual perceives the religion - i.e. I am not a Witness with a rigid outlook, I don't have a poker stuckup my nether regions, and there are some aspects I don't agree with, some which I perceive to be man made facets of the religion. I love my fiance with all my heart and I think we can get through anything together and while some in my cong are not to happy with the situation, thats their problem - let them dwell on it because I certainly am not.

The scripture to which I refer is the one in acts 20:20, evangelizing was done from door to door in this example. Also various scriptures suggest the Jehovah was a God of organization, setting up priests to keep order among the people.

it appears she is accepting the watchtower driven interpretations of the bible, but we are still not giving up.
if you are willing, would you respond, in a nutshell, to the question, "what is the doctrine or belief that the jw's hold that was most instrumental in leading you to abandon this religion?

I don't have my bible with me now, but what about the scripture that says that for unrepentant sinners " you must not even eat a meal with them"???

Well what about where the bible says you must go from house to house preaching the good news? Are true christians to randomly pick doors and head out preaching on their own? What exactly is the good news then?

By the way I am a woman, and I happened to fall in love with this man, and seeing as I will not be disfellowshipped for marrying him next year, I consider him to be too important to me to lose. Is it impossible for me to have him and my religion??? I don't think so. He knows fully about my religion and is willing to accept me as I am and I in turn am willing to accept him as he is.

I have had all the talks etc from the elders and I am now 'marked' for the benefit of other young ones in the congregation i.e. to show them that my choices are not condoned by Jehovah's word the bible. In our study article on Sunday it deals with choosing a marriage partner wisely and contains a section on not "marrying in the lord". If the organization is not from Jehovah then how come whenever we have a problem or we are doing something unscriptural it always comes up in study literature, it is as if Jehovah is in fact speaking to us through his earthly organisation. If I was thinking about robbing a bank next week, there would be an article on thieving. How can you explain this?
