my personal hell has started since i told my wife i was stepping down and why i was doing so.
she has barely said 2 sentences to me in the last 24 hours, but i can understand her being upset so i'm trying my best to remain patient.. yesterday afternoon i told my cousin who is also one of my closest friends about my decision.
we ended up talking about it for more than 4 hours.
Their so-called "Bible" The NWT version, is about as unbiblical as you could get!! Here's an example from the NWT:
Matthew 2:11
"Bowed down and worshipped him" changed to "did obeisance to it"
The JWs evade recognizing Jesus as worthy of worship as a divine being by altering the form of honor that he receives from men and angels. The Greek word proskuneo literally means "worship." The use of "obeisance" is a NWT adaptation. (Same revision found in Matt. 8:2; 9:18, 14:33; 15:25; 28:9, 17; Mark 5:6; 15:19; Luke 24:52; John 9:38; Heb. 1:6.)
All throughout the NWT, passages have been changed to reflect the distorted teachings of the WTS.

Mothers of U.S. presidents
Most were steeped in biblical religion, but it didn't always stick.
By Richard N. Ostling
Associated Press
They form an exclusive sorority with 43 members: mothers of the U.S. presidents. Some were impoverished and some rich, some unlettered and some college graduates.
But most shared one trait: mild to fervent commitment to the Christian religion, often buttressed by daily Bible reading and weekly worship.
Harold I. Gullan tells what we know about the beliefs of the 43 in the popular history "Faith of Our Mothers: The Stories of Presidential Mothers from Mary Washington to Barbara Bush" (Eerdmans, $25).
Because the record is sometimes thin, Gullan fills out the proceedings with other biographical material, including another trait most of these mothers shared: unshakable faith in their sons' destinies.
Gullan doesn't come out and say so, but several recent presidents surpassed their mothers in religious zeal, three Bible Belters in particular.
Methodist George W. Bush, who experienced a midlife recommitment to Jesus Christ, expresses more fervor than mother Barbara, an Episcopalian.
Bill Clinton has been a committed Baptist since turning up at a local church at age 10 and informing the preacher he'd be coming to worship regularly, with or without mother Virginia Dell Cassidy Blythe Clinton Dwire Kelley (she was married four times).
Jimmy Carter added "born again" to the political lexicon and has taught Bible classes for decades, while mother "Miss Lillian" seemed a less robust style of Baptist.
Then we have the reverse, mothers whose degree of piety was not passed along with their genes.
These included the only Roman Catholic among the 43, Rose Kennedy. Her 104 years were a regimen of devotionals and Masses (often daily). Kennedy was so old-school that she refused to attend the funeral of daughter Kathleen, who had married a Protestant divorcee.
By Gullan's account, Catholicism gave Kennedy a refuge from her husband's flagrant philandering. But she was able to pass on the faith "to her children only in part."
A Protestant version of the piety gap is seen in Warren G. Harding and mother Phoebe. The mother's "second home" was the Methodist church, Gullan recounts, and she became even more devout as a convert to Seventh-day Adventism.
Son Warren affiliated with the Baptists but displayed little piety and died in moral disgrace in the White House. Upon his mother's death in 1910, he remarked that he could not say this for himself "but dear, dear Mother will wear a crown" of God in eternity.
The enigmatic Abraham Lincoln revered his stepmother Sarah (in the book along with Lincoln's birth mother), who could not read but imparted a love of learning and of the Bible. Yet, Lincoln stayed at home when his parents worshiped with the Baptists, and he's the only president who never joined a church.
Two of the mothers failed to pass on the most distinctive tenet of their creed.
Hannah Nixon and her husband raised son Richard M. as a Quaker. Theirs was the western evangelical type, quite distinct from the quiet version of the Northeast, but both branches forbade the bearing of arms. Yet, Richard fought in World War II and became commander in chief.
So did Dwight D. Eisenhower, whose father and mother Ida were devout followers of a "peace church," the Brethren in Christ (aka "River Brethren").
When Ike was an adult, the elder Eisenhowers converted to the Jehovah's Witnesses, who oppose participation not only in the military but voting or anything else to do with what they see as the wicked worldly system.
Many of the 43 were related to preachers. The most distinguished example was the husband of Woodrow Wilson's mother Janet ("Jessie"), who became a professor at Columbia Theological Seminary and the chief officer of what became the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.
Wilson, who wrote in his diary that he "professed Christ's name" at 17, married a fellow preacher's-kid.
We know little about the mothers of some early 19th-century presidents. But the way things are going, Gullan remarks, "in the 21st, we will likely know too much about everyone."
my mother has been sick for a couple of months and undergoing a battery of tests, she is a jw.
we live 3000 miles apart.
well she just called and informed me that she had just received some bad news from her doctor this afternoon.
I had this same surgery last fall. The dr. removed 18 inches of colon and a cancerous tumor, which, thank GOD, had not spread. I lost no blood, but I can tell you this: A parent wants her children near at times like this. Your Mom is going through a frightening experience. Give her your love, be there with her.
It is not a time to argue the JW blood doctrine. Your family has already called in the "troups"; you will be outnumbered and it will just add stress to your mom's health.
i was going to keep this a secret but i just could not...those very touching gifts you got us on u hawwian vacation are sooo very very pretty...we are not use to getting such things from men / black eye / a fat lip and body bruses yep that is quite usual...i am still teary eyed from emotion randy (good emotion) i am so very serious that i want the entire cyber world to know what a dear you are especially to the likes of us and giving us a good memory to remember as well..if this is gossip then i am guilty as charged and the moderator can figure out my punishment...i am still lookinng at my pretty gift from a very loving man !!!!
xoxo ((((((()))))) peace
Randy Watters is THE man! I wonder how many have been led out of the trappings of the JWs because of him?!! We love ya Randy!
i've been studying with the jw's for about a year now.
i know that by nature (or nurture!
) i have an addictive personality so i have tried to be real careful that i'm doing the right thing by getting involved with them.
Meow, I am guessing, from your bio, that you are dating a JW and this is the main reason you are studying w. them. If so,is he willing to reciprocate and go w. you to another church...to investigate? Do you want to raise your children in the environment others have written about? Read some of their stories.
Also, I think it IS a good idea to compare the NWT to any other generally accepted bible translation. The deception of the NWT is obvious. Other bibles have the same meaning, maybe the wording is a bit different. The NWT has purposely changed the words so that the meaning professes their twisted doctrine. Write me if you want a link to see some of these passages; or maybe someone can post it, as I don't have it handy.
the memorial last night was nothing new.
the routine never changes.
two congregations joined together for the night in one building.
I'm not a JW and have never attended the Memorial. I am curious as to the Scripture that is read that night. Is something read that explains the reason for not partaking?
i've been a bit short with people today in the forums, and i shouldn't have been quite so abrupt.
i get frustrated when i see exjws make the same mistake and join up with political groupthink just as they used to join with governing body groupthink.
it's all propaganda, as i keep trying to point out, but the fact is that you can believe whatever you want without my input.. i realize i keep harping on conservative hypocrisy lately, but that's because they are in power right now.
Ooh, ooh Baby! Thanks for the GREAT Shirelle memories, Dungbeetle! Nice to see another Golden Oldie here :-) And keep on keepin' on, Seeker! You are all right!
i posted this previously.
tonight is the anniversary of his suicide.
sorry to any who are unduly provoked.
LauraLisa, Thank you for sharing your brother's story. My heart goes out to you. Words seem so futile. We do not know the pain until we have lived it...nor can we fully understand. But we can let others know that we care. God bless you.
hi i really need some help on this i would like to marry a jw female and she is disfellowshiped her family wants her to be reinstated and so do i but i would like to marry her also any help at all
Dorian, I am not a JW. But I've had family and friends who are/were. You are getting good advice here. Don't let your heart lead you...use your head and take your time. Reading C of C is one of the best suggestions. And if your girlfriend is not able to let herself read it with you, that's a big warning. You definitely need to think about what it would be like to raise children in this type of so called "religion". If you have any faith background, I strongly suggest you call a minister or whatever and visit with them about your situation. good Luck.
