You are in a good place to learn. Is she 110% OUT and has no desire to return? There is a lot of guilt
laid on former JWs, sometimes they are drawn back.

Learing for support of someone very very very special : )
by VH5150 ini have recently met someone that has been out of jw for quite some time.
i really care for this person and i would like to know more about jw so i can understand what she went thru to remove herself, what feelings you think she may have from her involvement in jw and what she may go thru in the future that we are planing together.
please help, any info is appreciated!!.

A very lonely life.

i am 33 years old and have never had a relationship with anyone.
i have never dated..and as much as i would like to blame the jws, truth is i have never been asked out by anyone..ever.. i am a bit large, but i am not too fat or ugly and i think i am a good person, so why can't i find someone??

Hi and Welcome! There are many good ideas here. I would say GET Involved...in NEW things! Check out postings at the Library for events; volunteer in something that sparks your interest...Online dating works, my daughter (30 yoa) tried it 2 yrs ago and has a BF and future fiancee now, a great person. BUT be careful with that. Very careful. She didn't meet anyone until many emails passed, then phone calls, then met in public daytime (parked her car a couple blocks away) for coffee..NOT alcohol for the first meeting.
Therapy is a good thing; going to a small church is a good thing. If you are a little overweight, join a gym (you will feel better about yourself and it will show).
The JW past probably has a lot to do with it, but both my daughters have dealt with depression and they had no JW history at all.

Update to Shawn's story 2
by Shawn ini have taken a break from the board for a week because i am just burnt out.
i am still praying every day that the seeds i have planted grow but so far nothing is going on.
this past weekend was really bad and she saw me when she got back from being with a bunch of jws.

Thanks for all the help and ideas. I firmly believe in planting SEEDS of DOUBT whenever possible, as Mulan said...the info did stay in her mind. I think it would be really cool if more of us could print out some things and have them waiting...rehearse a few words to say, in Christian kindness (of course)..not attacking. I must confess I always was one to hide inside and not answer the door but I will welcome the opportunity to De-Witness !

I'm thinking NEXT time...I will be prepared. Something like..." How nice that you people want to share the Bible...isn't that what we are all supposed to do, as Christians?? " (wait for reply...obvious, yes, grin)
" I will be glad to take your literature, and if, in return, you will take something of mine, can I count on you to read it?" Then hand them the Lord's prayer, or something printed from the Bible..might even ask them if we, as fellow Christians, could join in praying from the Bible together, then whip it (the Lord's Prayer).
Any ideas of the response I will get? I want to be prepared.

Please help me understand about JWs as I have no idea about this religion
by unknown ini am looking for some one to help me understand a particular issue as a jw would see it.... if a single practicing jw was to have an affair with a married person (not a jw) knowing that they were married what would come of them or how would they feel about this being brought with a strict jw background?
i am trying to understand this as i have no knowlege of this religion.
any help would be appreciated.

Well, it's probably a GOOD thing for you that this person is out of your life. If you spend time here you'll hear many sad tales of JW/NonJW relationships. Life is too short to mess with those who are brainwashed in the WTS cult.
