Thanks for the lovely words. I think I'll read the account today as a reminder of what a wonderful gift we have in Him.

Yick. I remember tasting them after the service when I was little.
I always wanted to pull out a can of Cheez Whiz from my purse and give them a dab when the plate passed.

I agree. I know plenty of people who never step foot in a kh except for the Memorial. If you miss all the meetings, you're spiritually weak. But if you miss the Memorial, well, that just shows you have no regard whatsoever for Jehovah's commands.
My dad has been inactive all my life. But he never missed a Memorial. That would be unthinkable.
I feel so sorry for those who still believe and have to live with the guilt that they're falling short of Jehovah's acceptance. Thank goodness I and most of you have been able to move beyond that.

I figure there are probably some who have recently left the org who still hold their own Memorial service. I was wondering how closely they stick to the org's rules, such as the bread being unleavened, starting after sunset, etc.

That's 100% "no" so far.
I occasionally partake at a non-denominal church, when I happen to attend on the correct day. The once-a-year on Nisan 14 rule doesn't make sense to me anymore. But I still couldn't make myself miss the Memorial the first two years I was out. Now, the only reason the day has any meaning to me anymore is to remember to avoid my mom's phone calls that day .

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TERRI SCHIAVO CASE?
by Mary inthere is apparently no chance at all of her ever recovering from her present state, but do you think she should live or die?
for myself, i think she's better off dead than living---no, existing---in her present state.
i for one, have instructed my family to let me die if something like this ever happened to me.

I completely agree with the right to die with dignity. But starvation is such a horrible way to go. It's hard to think that there's no better way to handle the situation.
Even serial killers have the right to pass away painlessly by lethal injection. Why must the innocent and childlike have to suffer needlessly for one to two weeks "for their own good". The result in both killings is the same, and the intent is the same, to cause death. But one is peaceful, and one is cruel.
I understand the legal implications involved in the concept of deliberately administering a lethal drug to an incapacitated person to cause their death, and I have no solutions to offer. But, gee, in our age of technology, we have to resort to starving an already suffering person?

Been searching scriptures for "salvation"
by jaffacake ini?ve been given a nwt bible, but don't understand how jws believe as they do.
why does the ?bible topics for discussion?
include some issues, eg celebrating birthdays, that seem less important compared with the question of how to attain salvation.

Yes, the grace of God is all but destroyed in the NWT. The word universally translated "grace" in other works, is translated as "undeserved kindness" in the NWT, which loses quite a bit of meaning. "Believing" in Jesus is changed to "exercising faith", requiring action. The concept of salvation by grace is repugnant to witnesses.
To the witnesses, there is no salvation apart from their organization.

My hubby bought a broken car DVD screen with a good frame, and a broken frame with a good DVD screen, put them together, and we had a perfect video system in his car for almost nothing.
