Help me find post-armaggedon story
by pennycandy incan't find it in search.
it's a fictional diary about a jw after armaggedon.
starts off with praise and joy, ends up with guns and one tyrannical elder taking charge.. it's not "day one" on freeminds, but it's similar.

Doula
by Princess Daisy Boo ini am considering doing a course to become a doula.
this is a complete change in direction for me and i am not sure yet whether or not this will turn into a career, but the experiences of being pregnant and giving birth awakened an interest and a passion within me, and whilst i dont really want to go back to school to study nursing and midwifery, i think that the doula course could be a great outlet for this passion i have.. has anyone out there got any insight into this practice?
i would appreciate your thoughts!

I became a certified doula in 1995. It truly is a calling, and very different from midwifery.
Feel free to pm me about the life of a doula, although my experience is limited to the US.

Was there every year growing up. I was baptized there in the mid-80's. Oh, the walking! Round and round and round, ramp after ramp. In the days before cell phones, you had to keep a close eye on anyone you were with, or make explicit plans to meet someone, because with 33,000 people on so many levels, you'd never find anyone.
It was always exciting to me.

Help needed: Killing the 'The light gets brighter' argument?
by jah1914 inso after the revelation study last night where the paragraph was talking about how russell's interpertation of revelation basically didn't work and got discarded, my wife comments with the same old,"the light gets brigther, that's why i respect fds because at least they will change when they figure out something is wrong.
" (insert vomit here) afterwards, me and the book study conductor(i have to at least give him credit, he is someone i can talk to freely about my questions and he has not,as of yet, turned me in) got into a discussion of what 'the light gets brighter' really means.
he basically says so the brothers have made changes, so what?

Matt: 12: 36, 37 (NWT)--I tell you that every unprofitable saying that men speak, they will render an account concerning it on Judgement Day; for by your words you will be declared righteous, and by your words you will be condemned.

Hopefully the response would be: "I'm learning just like the rest of you. I'll do what I can to provide the best guidance I can, and I apologize for my mistake. Feel free to approach the real teacher for anything you feel is over my head. After all, your final grades are your responsibility and are between you and the teacher."

When our house wouldn't sell, my MIL sent us some of those. Just for giggles, my husband burried one in the yard, one in some land we were trying to sell, and put one in his boat we couldn't unload for the past year. All three sold fairly quickly.
Don't believe in that stuff, but it's a coincidence we laugh over.

He's hanging in there. Don't have many details, but things are as expected, except a lot more pain than he was anticipating.

Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch
by pennycandy inin discussing with witnesses the need to belong to an organization, they will often point to acts 8:26-31, emphasizing the need to be taught by someone what the bible means.. short summary: philip heard a man reading aloud scripture in his chariot, asked him if he understood it, the man said how can i unless someone teaches me, so philip taught him.. sounds like a good point, huh?
not when you give it a little thought.. what was the man reading from?
the book of isaiah, a prophecy about the lamb.

What was the man reading from? The book of Isaiah, a prophecy about the Lamb. The New Testament concerning Jesus hadn't been written yet, except a few letters floating around the congregations. He had no idea about this man Jesus, and so had no way of understanding the words of Isaiah as the new Christians taught it. So Philip told him about Jesus. He didn't need someone to explain to him Bible doctrine, he just needed to be brought up to date on world events.
That's all the eunuch needed to know, and was baptized that very hour, and went on his way.
This scripture isn't showing us that we need to be taught what the Bible means; just the opposite actually.
