  Sad news from Maui

  we went to our favorite beach, met up with some of our local friends.

  we don't have much in the way of details - but heard some devasting news that ari (well known to seattle area exjw's and i am sure by many on the board) killed himself sometime over last weekend.

  he was so excited about moving to maui, and starting a new life here.

  I never met Putternut but I new him from the boards. I remember his art and "poetry" at Slippy's. He was very talented. I especially remember his "story". A story I could relate to as I am divorced from my JW ex-wife and I have a ten year old son I fight to stay close with. I read his posts about his daughters with keen interest. I hope to avoid losing my son to the cult but yeah never know. My cousin "the apostate" killed himself as well a few years back. I understand the pain. I will miss Putternut....

  NYCKID, you sound like me. So many interests I can't decide what I want to do for sure. The things you are interested in are similar to me as well. I really like the idea of marine bilogy and am also taking up SCUBA diving this summer. I'm sure you and I will figure it out. I figure I just need to get into it and get my feet wet.   I'm starting college this Thursday. I can only handle 6 credits in the evening right now but hey, I figure if I could spend all that time going to meetings and studying for them why not use that same time and energy to go to college. I don't have a major yet but am in the Liberal Arts program. Hopefully, in 8-10 years I will have a B.A. and do something I really enjoy. Plus, I LOVE to learn!

  the whole feng shui thing is really going mainstream.

  everywhere everyone is trying to order their world using priciples of the ancient philosophy.

  Why can't I get over it already?

  ive had several people whom ive considered friends (jws) basically drop off the face of this earth.

  not once have i really discussed with them my reasons for leaving... actually come to think of it, only one of them has even asked.

  i just responded to her that i still love god, & kept it short and simple.

  With the way you are feeling right now it sounds like you need to simply think about taking care of yourself. Perhaps in the future an opportunity will come up to talk with your former friends. They are that though...former friends. Focus on those who really are true friends and love you. By the way if you and your husband are ever down in the Milwaukee area send me a pm. I would love to meet you both. Take care!

  the shunning has begun.......... i haven't talked with my mother who is less than 5 minutes from me, in almost a month.

  not unusual though.

  anyway, i went to my dad's place during christmas.

  here is an email i got from a jw friend regarding the downsizing.. can you sense the uneasiness in the last part of the message?.

  "bros vandewall, jaracz, pierce and weaver gave a talk.

  to the bethelites after the watchtower study monday.

  I personally am very happy to hear this as I have a ten year old boy who goes to meetings with his mom. Hopefully now there won't be much calling for him to go to bethel.

  Something I wonder.......

  a month ago my mother died.

  she had been a witness for 40 years.

  when she was sick she got me wondering if all the witnesses think that this system will come to an end in there lifetime and they won't have to go thru death?

  I was told when I was a boy I would never have to worry about dying. I never even really thought I would have to see my parents die. I agree with "JH". The Witnesses still talk about the end being close however they are putting more and more trust in the resurrection as their hope and not really trusting they won't die at all. They feel as long as they are in good standing in "Jehovers org." they are essentially "saved".

  i first noticed that no scriptural discussion of the choice is made, so it all appears to be solely the decision of the signatory.. when choosing alternatives of treatment, the witless merely initials his choice under clauses 3 and 4. since this simply indicates choice, full signature and witness are not required.. .

  now clause 6:.

  "i consent to my medical records ands the details of my condition being shared with the emergency contact below (cong secretary recommended) and/or with member(s) of the hospital liaison committee for jehovah's witnesses.. .
