I'm not sure how Taboo this subject is but anyway. I remember several witness suicides and attempts. I had an ex-witness cousin who succeeded. Of course, who could forget our good buddy "Puternut" who use to post on these boards...may he RIP!

ies that have happened to individuals on this board.
(what inspired me to write this subject was a bone chilling account .

Did u want to leave the org bcause u were doing something immoral?
by Will2Power in..and then sought to justify your leaving the organisation/religion by researching websites like this (to salve your conscience, justify continuing in your pleasurable but unscriptural lifestyle), or did you sincerely leave purely because you discovered certain false teachings, scandals, etc, while still living a moral, christian lifestyle?
be honest now, i mean really honest.
(this is not meant to offend anyone but viewed like a survey).

I left to BECOME moral.

Do you miss 'em?
by Jourles inif you're df'd or da'd and your friends and family have cut you off, do you still miss them?.
i miss some of my good friends i admit.
but do you want to know something really callous?
-

I sometimes miss the friendships I "thought" I had. But, I am right there with ya. I am slowly but surely not caring anymore. I have sent e-mails, tried calling, talked to my dad briefly when my mom was in the hospital (btw, I was the only family member who they didn't want there), sent flowers, sent a book my Dad would appreciate, sent pictures of what I am up to now and of my son having a good time with me. The e-mails coming back are shorter and shorter and are colder and colder. My mom doesn't even sign them with love anymore and more recently stopped replying at all. Relationships take effort and when no effort is coming back the relationship dies. That's just the way it is.

Lorenz Reibling, Knocking, and the WTS
by Jourles infirst off, i'm just throwing this out there to see if anyone else would like to take a stab at where this might lead.
scandalous?
probably not, but interesting nonetheless.. if you take a look at the knocking website, you will notice at the bottom of each page is a list of supporters.

I just checked the list of movies for our (Milwaukee) international film festival and am happy to report that "Knocking" is not on the list here.

question for Atheists with children?
by unbeliever inwhat do you tell your children about god or his lack of existance?
i know i have a long time before i have to deal with this but my jw mom did ask me what i will teach my son about god.
i have no plans to tell him god is real.

Here's a thought. Why not take it from the Humanist angle (humanist's that are agnostic or atheist and generaly believe in evolution). Here's a link from the Humanist Society's page on resources for families. You will notice books for children that would teach some of the things you are talking about but also principles most people would want to instill in their children.

Did You Ever "Report" Someone (Or Yourself) To The Elders???

I was stupid enough to turn myself in thinking the elders would help me. It turned out that was impossible.

Agnostic or Athiest--which makes more sense?
by whyizit ini can see how someone could be agnostic in their view.
who knows, who cares?
thinking that perhaps "god" is just a spiritual santa claus for people who are afraid of death, etc..... but atheism?
-
bavman
Perhaps it depends on your' definition of an Atheist. There is a difference between an "Atheist" and a "non-theist" for instance.
