Would you have to lie to be reinstated if DF'd for something you didn't do?
by True North inif a jw was disfellowshipped for something they didn't do -- perhaps as the result of false or mistaken accusations -- would they have to lie by "admitting" the "sin" to get reinstated.
otherwise, if they refused to admit it, wouldn't they be considered unrepentant?
seems like it could be a sort of catch 22.

What???
As a loyal JW, you wouldn't have to lie because you would actually BELIEVE you committed the sin after a certain period of time. What with all the constant rewriting or erasing of history, brainwashing, judicial committee meetings that go on. So then you would believe that you were telling the truth when it came to being repentant, and reinstated.

eating the emblems AFTER memorial...
by AuSet insorry this is a little late for a memorial post, but did any of ya'll eat the emblems like it was just ordinary food immediately after the memorial?
they always did this at my kh, even the elders would be handing it out and we always would fight over who got a piece of the "bread.
" this usually occured out in the parking lot after most of the new/interested people had already high tailed it outta there.

Lets see, if WE were allowed to eat the bread, I wonder what the elders did with the leftover bottle of wine??

My Mom actually did collect many antiques, I never knew that this was a "no no"
She was/is extremely superstitious, and after bringing some new antique or other object into the house, if she had "bad dreams" after that, she was convinced the object was demonized.
One time she spent a lot of money on a redwing crock and after bringing it home, had a few nights of "the bad dreams" so she figured she was going to silence the demons by stuffing it full of Watchtowers!!! LOL. Still to this day it remains in the bathroom stuffed with literature! What nonsense. Also, if she had to bring something into the house that she couldn't immediately neutralize with WT publications, she would put it into a garbage bag and carry it out to the end of our property and put the bag on the other side of the property line. Even my entire fam thought she was nuts, and they were all JWs!!
Her paranoia affected me so much growing up that there was actually a time, even when I was late into my teens, when I could not sleep in my bedroom and/or with the lights off for fear of the demons!
After leaving the "truth" I've never slept so soundly, my dreams are all wonderful, and if not, I can deal with them without saying "jehover! help me!" Someone, who was a Wiccan high priestess, once told me that the more time you spend thinking about something or someone, the more power you give to that entity. Perhaps this is why the JWs are more bothered than most others by the demons, if they do exist?

HELP! God get me out of here!
by Sparks inhave you ever been stuck in an embarrassing situation where you think you`d rather die than endure another 30 seconds...?
what is it with some of these witnesses!okay so they are no part of the world, fine, but which world, which planet are they on..!!!
(ok, let`s start at the beginning).i was a witness for many years, so while i`m out shopping or working, i quiet often bump into pioneers and other witnesses who are out on their ministry.some-times we just say "hello" and go in our seperate way`s; but often we will stop and chat for ten minutes or so.some-times i have to-be almost rude to get away from some, especially the pioneer`s who set the hours meter running as soon as we start talking.i am never rude to the witnesses, i was a pioneer myself and always try to put myself in other peoples shoes[ the golden rule ].sometimes i meet the odd elder while in the town centre.

Just looking for validation, that's all. A horrible, abusive, invasion of privacy in front of several thousand people. Someone had to have seen it, out there, somewhere?

Was/Is there a particular elder that was/is always after you?
by JH inalthough there are many elders in each congregation, was there a particular one that always seemed to be after you, criticizing that you missed meetings, or always knocking at your door to bring you back to the hall?
in my case, it always seems to be the same elder that comes over every year to try to bring me back.
he isn't the head elder, so why is he always the one pesting me?.

AuSet
Yep. Took him two years to reinstate me because he was on my JC. He thought I was too much of an independent woman, LOL. He used to have talks w/my parents about this. My parents specifically asked that he not be on my JC, so of course he insisted the opposite. The other two elders were total pushovers. Sometimes I get the feeling I was "set up." Maybe I'm just paranoid.

beauty, brains, money....no luck!
by AuSet inmy sister, who is still in, has just recently graduated from college (four year university) with a good degree and has landed a great job.
its likely that she will never meet a jw man who is completely compatible with her, as she is educated, smart, and makes more money than about half her cong.
combined.

No Apologies: You're much closer, if only you could hide your apostate horns....
When she was up over the weekend, she made me drive past her ex worldly boyfriend's house, and broke down crying because his car was parked outside. I dropped her off and went back to talk to him (at her request) just to see how he was doing. He really was a very nice guy, I just wish she would wake up about the JWs! I often wonder about how she holds on to two conflicting belief systems at the same time. Just the other day, she told me "I hate Repuplicans." ....er....what I mean to say is I'm neutral, but you know, if I wasn't, I would really hate them!"

Sam Beli: She had a "wordly" boyfriend while she was in college, who was perfect in almost every way and treated her like a queen. However, she couldn't reconcile the fact that he was an atheist. She became reproved after their relationship was revealed to the elders, she moved to a different cong, and is now trying to be a "good JW." Being raised JW, she knows and utilizes their social system well. After moving, she had an entire circle of friends at the KH within a short time period. This is hard to do out in the world, where relationships are formed much more realistically. I always remind her that her one worldly boyfriend was far and away the best relationship she's ever had.
Badger: Too bad you live so far away!
