i need to know if it's ok for me to convert and become a jehovah's witness to be with the love of my life.

i need to know what you think about this idea.

I don't think anyone on this board has a happy JW story for you. If you are looking for someone to tell you that becoming a JW is good idea - you should ask a diehard JW. I'm sure they have the skills to brainwash you too.

Read the Ray Franz book Crisis of Concience and then ask yourself if you want to join the cult. Visit the Silent Lambs website and ask yourself if you want to be associated with the organization. Your partner will not explore these issues with you and if you attempt to involve her in your search you may begin to see the control the org. has over her.

In my opinion it is a disgusting, abusive, mind-control cult that is based on a bunch of lies and distortions. You will have to sacrifice EVERTHYING in order to join. I imagine you think your love relationship is worth it - but I also doubt that you understand exactly what the sacrifice is that you will have to make.

i haven't posted as much here as i've wanted these past few weeks, but i've spent most of my time lurking here, or in chat.

for the last few 2 months roughly, every meeting i attended became extremely painful to endure, such that i would come up with excuses to miss as many as possible.

but there are 2 events that really gave me a swift kick to wake me up and realize that things had to change.

What a brave move Nocturne!!! I imagine you are experiencing a lot of feelings about your choice. You will have to deal with a lot of losses and will also have an exciting new life to create for yourself!

If I had it to do all over again I think I would have avoided being DF'ed. I think I would have just faded away like my sister did. She moved to another state and dropped out. That seems to be an easier way - being DF'ed is an ongoing painful situation. But I do not regret leaving that cult. And I applaud your decision!

i am sincerely of the opinion that we need to recognize that this board is quite different from most internet boards.

i do not belong to other groups and i cannot say i know every one else's rules, but i do know that jws and exjws are of a different breed.

we have been battered and abused in so many ways as jws.

The truth of the WTBTS is harsh. If people want candy coated BS then they can go back to the Borg where they came from. I am certainly not going to minimize MY truth for the comfort of some potentially sensitive reader. Of course I also would not try to force anything on anyone and will be welcoming but I won't edit my thoughts or feelings.

Encouragement to get back to the meetings

i keep getting these forwards from certain ones who i knew in the org.

they know i have left because i was "discouraged".

they are keeping their distance by not writing to me anything personal, but keep sending these "encouraging" forwards in hopes that i'll be re-awakened, dust off the book bag and head on back to the old kh.

i alway's start the day in good mood, but suddenly my day went wrong when a storm came.

what a day!

i cancelled all of my appointments.

Disfellowshipping

hi folks, i have heard the latest news that in germany it is no more announced on the platform, when someone is disfellowshipped.. this fact in future will only be given privately to the brothers.. has anybody heard that too?

is that a typical german way because the seltersbrothers demand the status of a church to save taxes and get public subvention.. since 1990 they are keen to get this privlege but at present time they stay where they begun.. i remember when i studied with the witnesses some decades ago that an elder mentioned: we never would become church.

that is the key to concordates with the state, jehovahs witnesses would losse their clean status before god.. and now since the 90ies they change their doctrines in sbustituting military services and so on.. frere kelsey - vieux homme sans moustache, le duc des boissons du selters, pourquoi is est va comme ca?

This would be quite a setback for the JW's. Without shunning, they couldn't "lovingly" ignore their former members in a loving attempt to convince them that this is God's only loving worldwide brotherhood!

I don't think they need to announce it from the platform. The gossip tree works well enough.

I won't think it's a step in the right direction until they are able to figure out its WRONG and UNLOVING and change the policy for that reason alone. Not for some hidden agenda.
