i was wondering if anyone has any official documents from mexico showing that mexicans were never prohibited from engaging in religious activities such as singing and praying during the time period that the mexican jw's classified themselves as a culteral organization for the purpose of owning property.
(was that sentence long enough?jeez) or that what did change (when the mexican jw's were brought to tears over the new freedom to sing and pray) was actually the ability for religious entities to own property.. also, does anyone know how the rank & file mexican jw's rationalized the fact that other religious people were able to pray and sing during this time period?.
i hope that all made sense.. thanks
Okay - I found most of what I was looking for. I posted it in case anyone else is interested.
The constitution of 1917 Click here: 1917 Constitution of Mexico
Article 24 . Everyone is free to embrace the religion of his choice and to practice all ceremonies, devotions, or observances of his respective faith, either in places of public worship or at home, provided they do not constitute an offense punishable by law.:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Every religious act of public worship must be performed strictly inside places of public worship, which shall at all times be under governmental supervision.
This is interesting. This is apparently the loophole the JW's used. Note that they were still not supposed to own the property.
maybe this is a questions i should be asking a active jw but they wouldnt like my question after their answer.
because i was reading an article that was talking about jesus came in 1918 or something to that matter, so more cockamamy s**t. but how do they feel about if an "anointed" person turns away from jehovah are they still considered anointed?
like for instance someone has been partaking of the emblems and for some weird reason they get df'd or just decide to stop taking the emblems.
Good question. Amazing1914 - you finally answered my question about it. I also thought that if an annointed person left the JW's or was DF'ed - another person was selected. But then what would happen if the DF'ed person came back....would the newbie then be un-annointed? So your response answers that.
But if the annointing began at pentacost...wasn't that a really long time ago?? How could there possibly still be 8000 living annointed persons? Also a person is annointed and of the FDS class, then why isn't everything they say considered significant holy communication? Only what the 12-17 in Brooklyn says counts as anything. How do they explain that?
Sorry - I have a lot more questions than answers!
I've spent a lot of time in therapy and it has made ALL the difference! I think its only a tool - it helped me with my recovery - but the responsibility was and is mine. I'm just saying don't expect a miracle cure - it will help if you have an open mind and go into it wanting help and willing to do the emotional work.
I understand your manly desire to do it all on your own. I wonder if you would feel the same way if you had a medical problem...wouldn't you go to a medical doctor if you needed medical help?
You could just try it. You could commit to 3 months of therapy. If you hate it and don't see any value to it - you can drop out and be miserable again!
Also, it's okay to shop for a therapist. If you don't feel comfortable - try another. Sometimes they will say things that you won't like - that's different. Its important to feel safe and understood.
Good luck!!

The constitution of 1917. The constitution of 1917 highlighted and institutionalized many of the nineteenth-century secular reforms. The new constitution included at least five articles that affected all religious groups, regardless of denomination. These articles, which remained in effect until 1992, appeared to preclude any national role for the Roman Catholic Church. Article 3 forbade churches from participating in primary and secondary education. Article 5 prohibited the establishment of religious orders. Article 24 mandated that all religious ceremonies occur within church buildings. Article 27 gave the state ownership of all church buildings.
Okay - I'm posting on my own thread. I found this on the internet - I didn't highlight the blue - just the yello. Now I'm confused....what does article 5 mean? Article 24 makes it sound like they COULD pray and sing. Article 27 makes Ray's point but does article 5 validate the JW point?
i have a post from another forum that i am very interested in, but, i would love to hear a few of your views on the subject.. i am now going to dig into my bible to have a look to see what he is talking about, but i know that the view of jehovah's witnesses is about as close to the best intereptation of the bible there is...this is the post..... "-the eastern or golden gate, which was sealed for almost a 1200 years is a key part to bible prophecy.
ezekiel recorded the prophecy about the closing of this gate.
he told how the lord brought him to the eastern gate.. .
I know that the view of Jehovah's witnesses is about as close to the best intereptation of the bible there is...
I couldn't even finish reading all that bibley gobbeldy gook. I can't help you with that. But I can help you with the above statement. How do you "know" that? Keep reading this site and you will learn A LOT about the JW's. You can also try Quotes.com.
Good luck with the information you are looking for.
ok, i'm not one for conspiracy theories but lately i've uncovered some interesting facts that i think warrant some attention.. first of all, russell was a freemason.
all the early watchtower and books he authored have freemason symbology and art throughout them.
not a big deal i thought, until i read more about freemasons and the so-called "illuminati", a group of 13 families that supposedly control the world.. supposedly these 13 families, such as the duponts, mcdonalds, kennedys, .
Thanks for breaking that down for me. It finally makes sense. Actually the way I found this site and others like it was because someone told me about Freemason's. I had never heard of them so I google'd it. One of the first things I stumbled across was that Charles Taze Russell was a Freemason and a high ranking Freemason financed him to start the religion. Also read about the Mormons being essentially the same religion. I still don't know much about it but I am interested to read the responses your post will get.
Thanks

just got this one in the email.
someone already posted this one, but it was sent to me by a "friend" who no longer communicates with me and then sends me something like this from the circuit assembly.
guess she thinks that now that i am "inactive" i may need this little wake up call.
stephones - Right ON!!
damn!
witnesses are stupid.
i'm going to a family wedding this weekend of a non-jw family member.
No conscience, no rational thought, just blind, moronic, robotic rule following. "Whatever you say FDS"
Ughhh!!!
I would love to be there to see the stupid expression on his face when god asks him "WHAT were you thinking??? I told you to LOVE each other."
