Make Up A Prophecy or a Statement You'd Like To See In A Watchtower
by minimus insince the watchtower has regularly disseminated "false prophecy" over the years and has given truly silly reasonings for their beliefs, let's give the society some ideas as to what they might put into the next watchtower.....i'll start----"since the elders are representatives of christ jesus himself, we should give them glory too.

IS IT TRUE & SHOULD WE OBEY IT?
by gdt inmy mother said 'if you can't say anything good about anyone (thing), don't say anything bad'!.

Well, here's what Ez 13:21 says :
"I will tear off your veils and rescue my people from your power so that they shall no longer be prey to your hands. Thus you shall know that I am the Lord."
Are you suggesting that one should never vent anger/pain about being lied to and decieved? One should not expose abuse in order to help stop it? One should not seek out support?
I would say I agree in that if elders can not say anything nice about you from the podium - they should definitely not announce that you are being thrown out to satan and all of your friends and family should not say so much as a kindly hello to you. You are right on that account.

Bsylva - I am truly sorry. ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) to you. You are not alone in experiencing pain, frustration and loss because of the Watchtower bible and tract society. Damn them for what they do to good people in the name of God.
Don't worry - she will always wonder what she lost and if she made a mistake. She did - IMO

why take the time to "fade"?
by doogie inhey guys,.
i'm perplexed by something and i don't know how well it will be received on this board but i'm really curious.
why did you take the time to fade away vs. just daing yourself?.

I thinks its all been said really - but from the viewpoint of someone who fade if I could do it all over again---- At this point - if my mom died - NO ONE in her life will call me to tell me (unless of course they want$$) I don't think my mom wants to shun me and if I were "inactive" it would give her an out to maintain some sort of a relationship with me. I am trying to find out from her right now if my grandfather has died. That shouldn't be something I should have to wonder about for more than 24 hours. But if it happened, I doubt my mom would have called me or my sister.
I am glad you posted about this instead of just judging us as weak or whatever. And I think it really speaks to the sickness of an organization that people have to SNEAK away from it.

Ya'll are gonna scare the newcomer.
Ladybug 3 WELCOME to JWD. Please don't let this thread scare you away. Please stay and read a few more threads. And please also read Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz. There are reasons that the WTBTS do not want you to read the book or this site. There are things you do not know about the "FDS" and they prefer that you not know. But you have a right to know everything - not just the parts they allow you to know.
Please keep reading. We won't harm you and we are not evil.

OMG - I feel sorry for you! JW's are a CULT not a religion. You have no idea what a huge impact this will have on your life. You will never celebrate Christmas in your home again. If you want to spend Christmas with your family be prepared to go alone and to fight about whether the kids can go with you. My dad was not a JW but I never got any christmas, birthday, haloween, easter, etc. - not because he believed it was wrong - but because of the constant
bitchingpreaching from my mom.The blood issue is life threatening -- do not discount what a JW will do in these situations.
Please, please, please do a lot more research about this destructive cult before you marry into it. Some suggestions: Crisis of Conscience - Raymond Franz, Releasing the Bonds or Combatting Mind Control - Steven Hassan.
Don't think that you will be able to "fake" your joining and just quietly maintain your own beliefs and your own life. The pressure will never end to be a better witness - go in more service, pioneer, etc, etc, etc. You will have to agree with every false prophesy and piece of garbage that the WTBTS puts out or else you will be DISFELLOWSHIPED and then the nightmare will really begin!
I know the thought of ending a relationship over religion probably seems a distant and unwarranted option. But this is not about incompatability over religion - like it would be if a catholic were marrying a jew. That would bring with it some issues. But you would be marrying a cult member and that brings with it a great deal of baggage. If you doubt that it is a cult - just mention the word to her and watch what happens. You will be discounted and she will probably bring up some other cult - like the Branch Dividians to discredit you. But she will not encouraged you to discuss further the idea of the JW's being a cult - nor will she read Hassan's book.
In summary: RUN

Surely you're just building up their expectations that any day now you're going to realise how wrong your current actions are that you would like to return to Jehovah and have all you sins forgiven
I say 'So What'...string them along as long as possible. It's there game - let them enjoy it! And let jwbot enjoy her family in the meantime.
jwbot - hope you don't get too bored! Maybe you can write the web address to SilentLambs in all the bathroom stalls while you're there?!?!?!

by Terry injohnny and i go back all the way to childhood.
we met in elementary school all those years ago.
he was a chubby, one-eyed kid with freckles and a coat that didn't fit him and i was a tall and vanishingly thin introvert who wore dress pants instead of blue jeans.
