  Which dog breed do you like?

  well , with so many posts about pets i thought i'd ask this question.

  we have 3 great pyrenees dogs.

  the oldest is 11yrs and the youngest is 4yrs old.

  How Many Hours Do You Work?

  just curious.. todays "times" says that americans do most things one hour before the brits do.. americans, it says, start work at 8am, brits rarely before 9 am.

  american lunch is at 12 noon, the uk is 1pm.

  american dinner is at 6pm, uk eats around 7.. but how many hours do you need to actually work?.

  I work 9-5 M-F at my main job and get 4 weeks of vacation time, about 7 or 8 holidays and 5 sick days. Then I also have a second job (small business) and work about 5-6 hours a week with it. I'm also back in school - only 1 class this semester.

  This is the first job I've had where I get more than 1 or 2 weeks of vacation. And I love it - but its also kind of like velvet handcuffs. I can't leave even if I want to!!

  What did Noah eat after the flood?

  as the world was presumbly ruined after the flood,nothing was grown etc etc,what did noah eat.. if he have started eating the animals,they would have been none around,so what did noah and co eat to avoid hunger?

  Could the fish have survived considering the fresh/salt water ratio and also considering that the temp. of the the water would have been affected by that much rain??

  My answer is --- He didn't eat-- because people in story books don't need to eat.

  Merry - I think you did a great job and I love the healthy boundaries you are setting. Lets see how your mom likes being disfellowshipped right back! I also think that she will probably now move you from "DF" catagory to "apostate" catagory. At the very least she will respond by attacking your mature and open minded philosophies.

  Yipee for you protecting your daughter from that sick cult!!!

  with more than half of the world's population who never saw one jw at their door or ever heard about the jw's, i wonder how they will know that god is jehovah if ever armageddon happens one day?

  Their version of hell sounds pretty good to me. Why don't you like it?

  myelaine: I wasn't actually discussing my beliefs about hell - I was just being funny/cynical. As if to say that since they are wrong about so many things - and we know how God feels about false prophets - then they should hope that they are also not wrong about what happens after death.

  Their version does sound good. That doesn't mean it's real. Reincarnation sounds good too. I guess anything would sound better than fiery hell.

  (btw - I don't believe in eternal torture after death - not even for JW's)

  i am neutral on the bible students as i liked russell?s stuff; i even scoffed at the anti-russell books when i was becoming borg in 1981. so this isn?t at all criticism.

  it was a bit refreshing.

  but this is just one study period, lunch, two discourses and a few breaks, so i just saw and felt what half-a-day in rural portland oregon would bring on a sunny sunday afternoon, august 29.

  TD - You make a good point. I can remember thinking - "what if they're right??" Now I know those were just remnants of a phobia instilled by a cult. It's great to be free now!

  BTW - If they thought they had "the Truth" they wouldn't be so afraid to be exposed to the real TRUTH via the internet or contact with DF'ed people.

  What book are you reading now?

  from time to time we like to share some good reads with each other on jwd, and now might be a good time to share with you what i'm reading this week.

  it's "the gate" by francois bizot which tells of his experiences as the only western prisoner to survive the khmer rouge in cambodia.

  in 1971, on a routine outing through the cambodian countryside, the young french ethnologist francois bizot is captured by the khmer rouge.

  I'm reading How Good Do I have to Be? by Harold Kushner. He's the same guy who wrote When Bad Things Happen to Good People (awesome read). He's a rabbi and offers a marvelous explanation of the story of Adam and Eve that makes more sense than anything I've ever heard. The book also deals with guilt, forgiveness and compassion.

  I'm also reading ISOCF - Ray Franz. It's going much slower than CoC - its a bit wordy - but still good.

  I just hope I get to video tape it when Jeboobah gathers all the JW's at Judgement day into the biggest assembly center ever - and says to them:

  "WHAT THE F____ WERE YOU THINKING??

  Imagine the looks on their faces when the Almighty Himself tells them they got it ALL wrong...even the part about HELL. Hahahaha
