Has anyone sucessfully talked a JW into quiting?
by JustTickledPink inmy mother doesn't speak to me although she will exchange emails with me.
we actually don't communicate much, but recently i sent her a few emails detailing things are wrong with the watchtower society.
her responses are laughable... but i am still printing out articles and mailing them to her about the un scandle, she of course doesn't believe it.. but has anyone sucessfully made any headway talking to a dyed in the wool jw and made any progress?

Do 'They' Have Their Own Forums?

I don't even read them half the time as she has now resorted to quoting scriptures.
I think your making a mistake here, this is the most fun part! Witlesses are thrilled with how much they know about the bible! (or think they do!) She is not going to read quotes you send even if they are direct from the watchtower right! So you need to beat her with the bible!
Just flat tell her I will agree to read the scriptures that you send if you agree to read the scriptures I send! Absolutly no outside source materials and not the nwt bible. Most witlesses can't resist this because they think they are so smart... Then start hitting her with any of the bible post that are here is won't be long till she says "I won't do this anymore!!!!!" Now that sounds like a bad thing but its actually good because thats the kind of admission that eats at a jehover like cancer... "I'm suppose to be this bible expert yet I got dusted, how can that be..." May just bring her around, never know! If you try to bring them around with "apostate stuff" they will never come!

Do you believe that ancient humans once had advanced technology?
by Elsewhere inthis is something that has been tossed around for some time, but something occurred to me: if ancient humans did have advanced technology, such as space travel, we would know about it.
the reason i say we would know about it is because they would most certainly have left objects in orbit around earth.
yes, the low-orbit objects would have eventually fallen back due to the drag of the upper atmosphere.

Just my personal observations but does france seem to be turning against all religions and cults? I know they've been burned a few times in the last decade or so but they really seem to be turning up the heat on all religions. Maybe I'm just getting it wrong but it seem that way to me!
Maybe it's the begining of armegedon? ;-)

Do you believe Mary was a virgin?

she doesn't even believe that she was a virgin and she doesn't believe in the immaculate conception.
if you think about it logically today, if you had a fiance that went to visit relatives for a few months and then came back pregnant and told you it was god's child, would you believe it?

Lots of myths about virgin births but how many myths about girls getting in a "family way" by gods? More than a few I'd wager!!!!

The whole pyramid argument has got to stop! They didn't require much in the way of technology. Just lots and lots and LOTS of man hours and they had slaves in spades! All they really needed was a straight edge and a hammer!
I'm much more impressed by the leaning tower of Pisa. It was built on sinky sand and started leaning during the building the engineers said "heck with this we'll build it anyway!" so each floor has a little more "lean" built right in... They finally get done with this joker and it's not enough that it's standing they have to go and fill the top floor with something like 16 TONS of bells! This building has stood that way (admitedly they did finally take out the bells) for almost 1000 YEARS! Now that should require aliens! At the least some sort of anti-gravity device!

This is just too funny! I was always digging for answers and thinking when I was in the borg. I credit that with me being out now! When I talked to people who were still in they almost always said "you should have studied more" too which I always replyed "thats the problem, I studied too much!" I think if you study and REALLY meditate on things you can't stay in, not and be honest with yourself.
I've really really noticed this recently many Jehovahs witlesses really don't know what they believe. Often if you get into a deeper issue many will say things that are no longer the accepted policy or never were the accepted policy! They always talk of unity but they have changed beliefs so many times that many of the older ones are just disconnecting, confussed as to what they believe!
Just for fun take a current belief that disagrees and argue with the next witness that comes to your door I'll bet you five bucks they argue AGAINST what the new poliicy is... kinda sad isn't it!
