What first gave you doubts ?

we all know the big problems with the wts, but what was the first thing that made you realise there were problems with the organisation ?

with me it was realitivly small stuff like an 8 year old getting baptised and a comment my best mates made about another of our friends asking if we should be hanging round with her as she might be bad assciation (she had just been reproved, but they had been mates 20 years).. .

how ever the first time i ever thought something was really wrong was when i was about 11 and my grand farther died, and mu mum wouldn't go to the funeral, i remeber thinking that surely it was better to say good bye properly than worry about if the service was in a church.. .

What first gave me doubts? DITTO on everything said here. I'm just so sorry that it took the death of my wife 8 years ago for me to start my search for the way out, even though I had growing doubts and heart ache for decades.

Mulan mentioned the prodigal son...........if any here still believe in the saving grace (not undeserved kindness) of Jesus Christ....then I highly recommend the book.."What's So Amazing About Grace?" by Philip Yancy.

This book was a gift to me a year ago and I learned more about love and forgiveness in the time it took me to read the book than I did in 30 + years of reading WT repetition.

A child's innocent questions about shunning

i wrote this about three years ago, i came across it today in some files and thought it was worth reposting for newbies.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

one night last week, my five year old daughter couldn't fall asleep.

we could hear her upstairs as she tossed and turned a bit, then finally reappeared from her bedroom and crept down the stairs.

When I read something like this, I am so happy that I chose my daughter over the commands of 'mere' men.

HELP! How do you answer the Elders without incriminating yourself?

i?m due soon for a shepherding call from my congregation elders for a variety of reasons: being irregular in service, s poradically attending meetings, and o h yes, writing in a letter to the society asking for clarifications on the blood ban.

It has been soooooooo long since I was at a meeting, I can't believe that myself or anyone of us believed that crap for so long.

How the he.. can our salvation hinge on the fact of believing that the GB has taken the place of Jesus? But then again......I believed it for over 30 years.

You mean that if I actually answered my door or phone when the one (the only one) elder from the cong. I went to tries to get in touch with me and asked me that question...and I would say " NO....the org is not the true channel from Jehovah"..........that I could be DF'd?

After fading away for so long now.......I don't know what I would say. I'm at the point that I don't care since I do not have any friends it .......or family other than a brother in law who I am in contact with occasionally...and he is on the edge....but still kisses ass.

Higher Education

well, let's try posting a topic.

one of the things i felt i missed out on while i was a witness, other than wild sex when young is higher education.

i quit hs to pioneer and now have just recently finished a college degree and am still working on my masters, but i find myself resenting that i have had to do this all at night and while in my forties.

Yeah........I have felt a resentment for a long time. Not for myself but for my daughter. She was offered a full scholarship along with other scholarships but did the 'right'??? thing........she turned them down so as to be approved by the rest of the janitorial class.

Forward 15 years...............we both faded out of the borg. She is now 33........living in Florida....manages the entire business for a fabulous interior decorator on Sanibel Island........is with the greatest 'worldly' man ( I think he is great) her ex husband (JW) was a complete a..h... .......lives in a beautiful house .......and is now a full time college student at the University of Phoenix Online. And I am more than happy and proud to help finance this way too long incoming education.

Once she approaches graduation time...........as long as I have breath in my body.......I will pay for us to go to Phoenix so she can actually wear the cap and gown and get the diploma in person. And if my last breath should come before this time........I have made enough provisions (insurance) so that she can still go.

I wish I had joined this board months ago. About 4 months ago I boxed up all my Bound Volumns from 1968 on and other books and gave it all to Goodwill Industries.

How many hours did you falsely report?

From my very beginning as a JW I could not stand going door to door. Needless to say I was a very "low time" publisher. My 2 to 4 hours were "faithfully" reported every month. Then in the 70's when the new arraingment came out, I was told that if I increased my time to 10 hours that I would be very welcome as a MS. So I pushed myself to get the magic number. Once I became a MS, my hours went back to "normal".

Then in 1986 I was told that they would like me to be an elder if only I increased my time to the magic number again. Since I worked rotating shifts at that time I wound up standing on the street corner of the local business district in our territory. ( aaahhhhh........a new thought just came to my feeble mind. Could the congregation be likened to a gang? Each one has it's own 'turf' territory and don't like it if the other gang ...oops..cong. tresspasses) a few times a month to 'legitimately' get my time ...well most of it anyway.

Then I ARRIVED. I was appointed as an elder and like puternut, I put my heart into it. But with all the responsibilities my hourly report got creative. The numbers got rounded out like Blondie said. Drive from laundromat to laundromat to drop of magazines, etc. I now wonder how much all the driving around and needlessly burning up gasoline cost me. over the years.

Need Input on DF committee hearings, please

i would like to ask, specifically, the ladies here who have been subjected to a jc hearing, preferrably for fairly serious reasons, to write a quick summary of the humiliation, etc.

that went on during this process.

I was part of a few JC's in the late 1980's and was appalled at the questions that the then PO and a member of our 3 man "execution" committee was asking. At that time, the Society said to ask explicit questions, not just generalities. This Bro asked questions of a "sister" who evidently came forward to confess, that embarrised me and the other Bro. I think he got his rocks off asking and getting the answers The questions went beyond what was necessary........like "did you think he had a big penus?" Did he ejaculate in your hand or in your mouth? And this same Bro the PO was DF'd in 1966 for F..k..g my cousin's wife and destroying a family. But as the years passed........we {including myself} bought into the whoe line of BS that he was a pillar in the cong. {I can only hope that the Almighty has forgiven me for being a sucker} This same guy tried to destroy me.....but that was when I resigned. As far as I have heard.......he is still looked up to.........He takes the lead in FS all the time .

Hey ......you know what? This board is good for me. It not only relieves tension...........it makes me remember ALL of my rage and lets me realize how WONDERFUL I have it today.
