Elder for 30 years, lost privelages due to WT Education policy

this is a really good one.

an elder who was serving for more than 30 years, faithfull to the organization at all means, has lost his privelage due to the wt education policy.

the reason was that he allowed his son to study at the university.

As far as I know, it has always been that way. I was an elder in the late 1980's. It wasn't made very public..but it was a given in the Pittsburgh area that if you let your kid go to college, you would be removed or encouraged to step down. Being thoroughly brainwashed at the time..........my daughter was stripped of a full scholarship by my wife and myself.......and of course.....my daughter agreed to a certain extent. Now many years after the fact......we know that WE......THE FAMILY OF ME, MY WIFE, AND MY DAUGHTER really wanted her to get this education but....but.......OH MY GOD...........what would the Brothers say? And how would this look to the congregation and organization?

Watchtower BE DAMNED. They have fu#ked up more lives than can be counted.

Yeah..........HappyDad said the F word. I'm also growing sour on other religion at this time. That remains to be said at another point in time.

With his ruined and diseased mind...(and the WTBTS is at fault...the reason he is spouting his diatribes once again) trying to convince all who happen upon his posts......he wants soooooo bad for the rest of us to believe in his own belief system. He has nothing else in his life to look forward to.

Why not grow up and at least acknowledge what others believe instead of constantly using this forum to browbeat everyone as to your hatred and new unbelief system.

I think you will be unhappy for the rest of your life. You could be happy if you would at least try to have a friend.

Are there still 'segregated congregations' in the US?

in the 70's and 80's i recall conversations with some fellow jdubs who had lived in the southern us.

they told me that some areas still had segregated halls - blacks would meet at different times or locations than whites.

is this still true, anyone know?

I got drafted into the Army in 1966 and other than my basic training at Fort Benning, GA.......I spent my entire 2 years at Fort Belvoir, VA. For a few years before that, my mother was trying to get me to become a JW. My mind was very confused.

I started attending (sporadiacally) the Rosemont Congregation in Alexandria, VA once I was settled at Fort Belvoir.

That's when I found out that in VA, there was STILL segregation. The whites attended Rosemont and the blacks attended their own congregation ( where....I don't know)

I do recall that somewhere about that time period (could be from 1967 or so......to a year or two later) that Virginia made history with their first legal interracial marriage. It was a JW couple.

Back then, I was told that it was necessary for the protection of the brothers. I can understand that because the whole Civil Rights movement was in swing at that time. Seems really hard to believe that our country felt that some people were/are inferior because of race. But that's the way it was and in many places still is.

Yes..........there was segregation within the WT Society. When I got involved in my first Cong. after my discharge in 1998...........racial tension was there in an older sister in my cong. She was HIGHLY upset when a black bro. married a white sis. in the cong. She would not talk to them for years. Another case was another white sis. whose son married a black sis. In the 1980"s. She disowned her son and from what I hear she still doesn't acknowledge him. And she is still in good standing. She made quite a verbal statement about that for many years and nothing was done about her "causing divisions" in the cong.

Sure glad I'm not part of that anymore.

Have you ever eaten 'Shark' steak?

i bot a nice one today, and prepared it on my 'george forman' grill.

seems to have the consistency of port or chicken.

not like fish at all to me.

I have eaten shark as well as swordfish steak and really couldn't tell the difference.

Could be because I thought they were/are one and the same. I read an article some years ago stating that if swordfish steaks are on sale at your local fish market or grocery store..............they are more than likely shark. Could be that any market could fool the unknowing like me.

I just googled shark/swordfish and came up with the following.

Shark is sometimes sold as swordfish, but it’s easy to tell the difference. Swordfish steaks have four whorls in the meat and smooth skin around the edges. Shark meat has an unsymmetrical grain and rough skin.

My hubby just laid down some rules to my elder dad

recently an elder called mike's mob phone wanting to speak to me, the only person who could have passed on that info was my elder dad.

mike has been waiting for my dad to call him to arrange to see the kids, as he wont deal with me at all.

so mike said to him i dont appreciate you giving our number out to the elders, we want nothing to do with them or your religion etc... mike than called me and said there was so much more i wanted to tell him.. i get a phone call about 30 mins later, mike had rang my dad and said if you want to see your grandkids then there are a few rules you will need to follow, 1. dont ever give out our personal details (which my dad apologised for and acknowldeged that he shouldnt have done that ) and 2. if you want to see your grandkids you need to speak to your daughter, you can msg her phone or even speak to her.

Hooray for Mike................and you too Es.

Hopefully your elder Dad will realize that it is "one very stupid and controlling organization" that is causing a rift between a father and his daughter. And hopefully...........the grandkids will be the amalgam that brings a family back together again.

in which i said.... this is strange, i read that in 1995 they did away with the "generation" teaching, yet the official watchtower website still says this, over 12 years later !.

thus, all the features of the last days must take place within the lifetime of one generation, the generation of 1914. so some people who were alive in 1914 will still be alive when this system comes to its end.

I doubt that the GB itself checks up on us 'postates, but someone sure does.

One example is what happened with Richie Rich and the book he took from his congo library....and then posted his picture with him holding the book right here on JWD. That is what they nailed him on.

Then much earlier on JWD is the example of jst2laws and his wife. Most posters here now haven't been on long enough but I would highly suggest reading jst2laws posts from around 2003 such as this one..........
