Just got home from work and in my shirt pocket is a spiral notebook, pen and pencil.
Pants: Wallet, handkerchief, comb (even though I'm 80% bald), keys, some small change, and a flash-drive.

god may want to talk to you and ring your phone to answer your questions.
can he talk to more than one person at a time?
he can kill more than one at a time anyway.. ken p..
Whether it is church, company meeting, or any other public place where someone is speaking..............it is pure ignorance to deliberately leave a cell phone on..........other than vibrate. Certain types of cell phone use is the modern day epitome of in your face ignorance.
Why should an individual have to be reminded to turn it off or put it on vibrate? Most people are not that important that they need this modern day pacifier on 24/7.
The cell phone has become just that..........a PACIFIER. The users are a little too old to suck a "binky" but they might as well connect one to their phone. They think they are important, but how many calls do you see them getting while they sit in the bar or restaurant?
I love the fact that a lot of businesses are posting signs saying that they will take care of you AFTER you are done with your call.......and in the meantime..........we will take care of the person behind you. Hooray for these business owners who will not put up with ignorant customers who think you should cater to them while they talk on their "PACIFIER".

time to recall old attitudes about guns .
by dan sernoffsky .
lebanon daily news .
Great article Hillbilly, Thanks!
to the person who wrote.............
Oh, and my point would be, that we have to come up with a different way of looking at things. We need to revamp our lifestyle and the parameters of our behavior.
Get real! Would you rather cower and let a deranged psycho kill you and others? Thanks but no thanks. I'd rather be shot..not cowering......but actively trying to stop the psycho with my own concealed weapon. Bleeding heart liberals will never learn.......not even when one of their own loved ones are gunned down needlessly.
Hillbilly and others.......maybe we should start posting "The Armed Citizen" from the NRA publications to show that proper gun ownership saves lives.

i just found out my 67 year old elder/dad has been there too, with his sister who used to live up that way.
it is freaky-deaky weird/scary.
why the hey would jesus pick a weirdo group that thinks pagan egyptian pyramids (who used to enslave and torture gods people) could give the answer to his second coming....pathetic...................oompa
Thanks for hitting the nail on the head Nathan. I wish I could put my thoughts into words as you and others do. These days on JWD there is a lot of "forget the facts, let's just get em mentality".
I live less than a half hour drive from Russell's grave and have been there quite a few times. I'd like to go again this spring and copy all the names on the nearby stones. Some of them look just like Russell's smaller grave marker and they probably were early Bible Students. Once I have the names, I could do some research.

ok, so i read what all of you would do with $200 million.
many of you posted something about playboy bunnies and the like....i think we'd all agree that hugh hefner has it made.
my college roommate used to believe that hugh hefner was god himself and i can understand his thinking.
I can understand your admiration for Hugh.......... as I too used to admire him myself for what he accomplished in a hedonistic, carnal way. But to acquaint him with/as God is purely adolescent on your part Dawg.
Your posting on JWD is some of the best. Please get back to those meaningful posts.

.."out of order"..no vending machine is complete at a jw assembly, without an "out of order" sign on it.....of course it`s not true..the machine works fine..it`s just one of the many lies jw`s are willing to accept from the wbt$.....although..this lie is extremely large and visible,it`s a frigg`n vending machine!..lol!
!.............does the management that rents the facilities to the wbt$,know the wbt$ is disabling them?....does the owners of the vending machines know the wbt$ is disabling them, and interfering with their right to do business in that facility?......could the wbt$ be sued for loss of vending machine business?.......wouldn`t it be fun to let the vending machine owners know their machines are being disabled,at jehovah`s witness assemblies?......it would mean more bad publicity for the wbt$ for lying and court cases they couldn`t win...................outlaw
Every convention I ever attended......from Three Rivers Stadium.........Wheeling WVA Arena..........Cleveland Convocation Center..........they all either had the vending machines turned face to the wall or OUT OF ORDER signs on them..
The WTBTS is a lunatic fringe! I'm so happy to be out of it.

when i was almost seven, we moved from the gulf coast town of mobile, alabama to morgan city, louisiana.
on brashear avenue, which was also highway 90, the gulf coast hwy, going towards the now old atchafalaya bridge, there was a shrimp boat in the middle of the road called the spirit of morgan city.
at christmas time they decorated it with a santa on the front and his reindeer out front, as if it were santa's mode of transportation through cajun country, rather than his regular sleigh.
Now this wonderful landmark is just one mile from my home. In fact, I can see the top of one of the rides from my backyard and in the summer.......on certain nights,I can hear the steel wheels of one of the roller coasters.
It has been called the Roller Coaster Capital Of The World.
Kennywood Park.

it seems that there are a lot of witlesses that opt to home school their children.
i had a family in my former congregation that did that, because the kids did not want to be around worldly people (sounds familiar?).
it also seems that they are speeding things up, so the children can get out there and pioneer that much sooner.
My neighbors have home schooled their son since 1st grade simply because of the terrible school system where we live. This school system has some of the worst numbers in the state of PA and it's been that way for many years.
While he was homeschooled they also had him doing other things such as dance and voice lessons. He appeared in several Broadway type musicals at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh when they auditioned for extras. He also got a junior black belt in karate and his father has his third degree belt and now instructs part time. Once the boy finished 8th grade they sent him to one of the best Catholic High Schools in Western PA. He was on the football team and this year the team played in the state championship in Hershey, PA. Sorry to say...the team lost.
Now.........to all the skeptics who think home schooling is bad.........the kid got a scholarship to Villanova University where he will be in September.
The JW's reasoning for home schooling is sooooooooo much different than REAL people's reasons for home schooling.

an ad that appears when viewing certain pages on the jwd web site refer to herbert w. armstrong - and his religion.. i remember this fella... not personally - but through the radio - and his preaching that he used to do on the air.. i remember tuning in a radio station - far far away (when i was a kid) - in del rio, tx (or perhaps across the border in mexico - xerf?).
he would get air time, and then preach - for what seemed like hours - although, i'm sure that it was only a 30 minute spot - or perhaps an hour-long spot of air-time.. i even seem to remember telling my mom at the time how much he sounded like jehovah's witnesses - in what he was preaching about.. i also remember my mom defending the jws - saying - essentially - that herbert armstrong was a kook.
armstrong had his own set of literature... i really think that he was a 'subscriber' to jw literature... and probably stole many ideas from the watchtowers... or other publications that he could get his hands on.. or... perhaps it's the other way... perhaps the jws 'borrowed' from his literature.. in any case... it brings back memories.. regards,.
In the early 1980's I would occasionally listen to Armstrong on the radio. I even called their number and started getting the Plai Truth magazine. When the magazine came, my wife was in a rage about it but I denied everything and said that someone I worked with must have put my name in.
Anyhow, I remember reading one of his articles where someone asked if he had ever been a JW and he said that he never had been associated with JW's at all but he would read their literature as well as literature from various denominations.
Back then, another JW "brother" and I would discuss what the WWCOG (Armstrong) had to say, and we agreed that he was really close the the "truth".
I don't know about my friend but I always wished we (JW's) could embrace some other type of tactics other than door to door and always putting our religion on page one to everyone we met.

Edited to say: To those who ever read his magazine, he really loved to publish pictures of himself with world leaders......as if they really gave a rat's a$$ about him.
