That is the same reason I could never go to Alcoholics Anonymous. There is no "Higher Power"
Robert K. Stock,
You make a statement such as this.....as though it were written in stone. This is your own opinion. There are those of us here that do believe in a higher power. What you are doing is prosylitising (spelling). Please feel free to express your beliefs, but not in the tone that it is the only belief possible.
Thank You,

it will be a sweet, sad, parting.
my home computer died.
but be brave, be strong.
Dearly beloved.......we are gathered here at JWD to mourn the loss of JGNats computer. Sadly the PC will lay in the nonexistant world for 4 days........where upon it will resurect in a
perfect new state with more brain power than ever before.
It shall then embark upon a new task of enlightening us of the many facets of knowledge of the WT and it's inner workings..........where upon we shall all benifit!
JG............we gonna miss you for 4 days.........REALLY!
HappyDad (of the...hope no one was offended by my diatribe class)

Jula71 asks.....................
How does one go about becoming a mason?
Just ask one and they will be more than happy to talk to you about becoming one. I was bombarded by several that I worked with over the years to join up, but I was a happy JW at that time.
My most recent boss, before my retirement was always after me to join his lodge. But once I left the JW's and now consider myself Christian, and after what I looked up on the internet, I felt that I wanted no part of it.
But after more considerable investigation, I have come to know quite a bit about them and their charitible dealings. I don't really believe that there is anything Satanic involved at all.....just a lot of things that let you identify fellow Masons. It is definitely a network of people helping their own.......especially if you are an honest worker and businessman. You will get ahead of the competition in most cases by being a Mason. Not much different than choosing a friend of a friend or a relative over someone you don't know for a job position.
The deeper you get into it, the more fascinating the rites are! And it is not Satanic. The critics can say all they want in a negative way, but one can still be a Christian and be a Mason as far as I'm concerened.
Now, I am considering more and more of becoming one.

atheists and the like are welcome to read along, but please keep this thread to the believers.
i'm looking for your "testimony" if you will.
what have you experienced in your life that you attribute to god or jesus or whoever?
I believe in God, and like JH, don't feel he owes me anything for it. For me, the personal belief makes me a happier person. My internal makeup is such that if I go for a period of not actively doing something........like going to church or reading the bible and meditating on it, then I'm literally not as happy as I am when doing so.
Mathew 5:45 .............since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.
This scripture makes a lot of sense to me. I look at it from the standpoint that a lot of what I have, tangible and intangible, has come from my own effort because even the one who doesn't believe in God can have good things too. I feel that God spreads out his table of life, and we believers and unbelievers have to do our own footwork to benifit from that table.

the other night our son confessed that he had been in an after-school fight last friday.
some small kid was irritated with my son (who's nearly 14) and called on the services of a big friend to beat up my son.
(i actually saw the fight (sort of) as i drove past the school that day to go do errands, and pondered on whether i should stop... i didn't... because i actually wasn't sure it was a fight; it was a lot of kids in a loose crowd).
Looking back on life and thinking if I had a son........he would have boxing lessons at a sanctioned gym. Forget the karate lessons. Karate is good for mental and physical discipline but 4 weeks of boxing training will get the young boy better able to handle himself than a year of karate.
Then again........find one of the places....and there are some.......that teach self defense with the motto "anything and everything goes". They teach street fighting tactics that are out of this world. I know.......I saw some of the instruction and you view any physical aggression as a threat on your life. And you take action accordingly.

the wts does not believe the soul is anything other than a person's whole being but they teach that the 144,000 are resurrected to heaven as immortal beings.
can anyone explain what they really are trying to say?
i hope this makes a little bit of sense.
The WTS does not believe the soul is anything other than a person's whole being but they teach that the 144,000 are resurrected to Heaven as immortal beings. Can anyone explain what they really are trying to say?
As a JW, I always thought the reason for this was that as soon as they died, their very being would change from a tangible creature-body to a spirit-body as per 1 Cor. 15: 50-52 " However, this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit God's kingdom, neither does corruption inherit incoruption. Look! I tell you a sacred secret: We shall not fall asleep (in death), but we shall be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, during the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised up incorruptible, and we shall be changed". NWT
Sure seems like a "soul" to me!

i was discussing with my mother (still a jw in good standing) and we were laughing about how in every watchtower, when they show "good christian witnesses" at someone's home or doing family activities, they always wear khakis, without fail.
and whenever they show "worldly" people, they are wearing jeans.
have y'all noticed this?
I get to do something I never could do as a dub.... wear jeans to worship Jesus at my church whenever I don't feel like wearing a dress shirt, slacks and sandals..
Me too Honesty........
to those who ever worked on quick builds............about 1990 the WT said we should not be wearing T-shirts with any kind of "product" names or pictures....beer, sports teams, etc. .......that if we wear a T-shirt, it should be plain. We didn't want to give any observers a bad opinion of JW's. What a crock!

jd8 decides to use stolen bricks and build a brick mailbox.
it's really nice.
however, he uses his old white plastic mailbox and leaves the flag attached to it instead of attaching a flag to the bricks (it makes the mailbox flag inoperable ?
JD8 decides to use stolen bricks and build a brick mailbox. It's really nice. However, he uses his old white plastic mailbox and leaves the flag attached to it instead of attaching a flag to the bricks (it makes the mailbox flag inoperable ? it stays up). Of course, worried about mail fraud or perhaps the anthrax scare, JD8 protects his mail with a Jesus Christ statue on top of the mailbox. Check out the handy work.
This entire story is hilarious but true. Check out the story here.....
