about ten years ago i went to centre parcs in the uk and was surprised to find that loads of jws were taking a christmas avoidance holiday.
does this mass holidaying still take place ?

Every Christmas day, a lot of dubs of all ages from all over Western Pennsylvania go to the Seven Springs Ski Resort. It always reminded me of the crowd of single bros in sis's at Gate A in the convention stadiums and arenas. A=available

my wife is involved with jws, and i want to find out what they believe, things they do or will not do, that i can present to her in the hope that it will convince her that the jw lifestyle is not for her.
i found out a few things already, like blood and yoga which i told her about, but she was unphased.
("i've never needed a transfusion before anyway, and besides, they told me that doctors have blood substitute now".
What goes on behind your bedroom doors is your business................but drop this one on her.

ever given any thought to your own funeral?
do you plan to have a memorial service, in a kh?
or in a church?
First of all, I am an organ donor. What is left will be cremated (no public viewing) and my ashes scattered where my wifes ashes are scattered. If that scattering is not possible because of the geographical area where I may be, then my daughter will scatter them where she thinks I would like to be.
Since my daughter is the only blood family I have, I will leave it up to her if she wants a minister for a service.
My main request is a very nice obituary notice in one major newspaper and one local one where I live. The text will say nothing about JWism, but how I have lived my life to the fullest.
I am already registered with a funeral home/crematory for the arraingements. Less than $1,000. Why spend my insurance money on a lavish funeral to make the undertaker rich? Let my daughter have a good life with what is left.

honestly, do you think that jw's really like going to 3 or 4 day assemblies, especially when it's out of town, far away, and you have to take a motel room, and all the gas money and food money it takes, as well as having to sit down all day listening to endless talks...and that for 3 or 4 days in a row.. and often, they have to take a day off from work, to attend the friday meeting, so no pay for that day.. i think that the jw's are glad when it's finally over, not before.. .

You should have been around when they were much longer. If I remember right.....back in the 1970's we had 4 day conventions. And I'm pretty sure that before that..they were 7 days, like back in 1958 at Yankee Stadium.
It all seems so distant to me now. Waste all your vacation time to sit, sweat, nod in agreement, and clap your hands to wake up.
At least I had a lot of fun in food service until the self-righteous a**holes in charge made us get serious.
Any fun I ever had as a JW ended when I became a MS and totally destroyed my trust when I became an elder.
I guess you can say that I was reborn as a human once I resigned as an elder and really became a new creation when I left being a JW.
