  Dad's and daughters...

  lately i've been feeling incredibly frustrated by the relationship i have with a few members of my family who aren't attached to the org, or just hanging in by a thread.

  my dad is one such person, love him to bits, but he really gives me the sh*ts with his poor me act grrrr.

  i just get tired of always being the one who calls, who stays in contact, who visits etc.

  can't fathom the shunning that I read about on this board between a father and daughter. Part of the father daughter packed is to be there for them whatever. I wish all the women here who are currently shunned by their dads could have an hour alone with them to hold them and once again be their little girl, the princess that they are charged to care for. As a father, out of all the wicked things the org do I see breaking the bonds between father and daughter to be the most despicable.

  I think us apostates and Anti-WT activists need a LOGO.

  i'm rubbish in the graphics department but perhaps we could get a few simple designs posted here.

  something simple that could be included in the header of any of the hundreds of apostate websites.

  it might just convey the feeling of solidarity to a common cause.. it shouldn't contain a url, just a short tagline and logo.. .

  my daughter and husband went with us.

  we had a good time there in our camper.

  it was stressed time and again how the fds in the body of the gb are to be obeyed.

  a speaker said the fds only gives suggestions/direction/guidance.

  three minutes later he's saying that if we don't heed the "suggestions" offered by the gb, it is tantamount to disobeying almighty god.

  And higher education was so vehemently spoken against.

  I've been hearing this from all of the posters here who have attended. Just about 10 years ago the Society bent a little on getting more education because of the modern job market and being able to support yourself while giving MORE and MORE time to the "important" things.

  The fact probably is..............the ones who start going to college and start their long lost thinking abilities, are such as the ones on this forum and other forums.................who have learned the real truth. These ones are leaving by the droves since. The WT is scared shwitless! Their idea of the ideal dub is one who doesn't know much about anything.......who is in a dead end job..........and follows blindly.

  I think the WT now makes policy according to what we so-called "apostates" say on these forums. How else would they know what the common consesus is unless they monitored this and other forums?

  The Real Deal - Silencing the critics Part 2

  is this issue of the watchtower being part of the un department of public information of any significance?.

  at the district conventions of jehovahs witnesses there are flags of the united states and other sovereign government such as states or other countries hanging from the buildings.

  the governing body and the watchtower society rent buildings which become the equivalent of kingdom halls for the weekend.

  I will leave the UN answer to the ones who already answered it so well. The comment I will make is what you said about JW's renting arenas and such with the US and other flags hanging.

  Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t find a problem with those flags hanging there.

  Believe me.........if they could.........they would take them down. But the LAW says that All public buildings must have a US flag.

  When I was on the building committee for a KH it was explained to us that the US flag MUST be in the building, but it wasn't necessary to have it prominently displayed. It was allowed to be in the Library or even in a corner of the coat room. And my state also requires all public buildings to have the State flag also.

  The flag would be gone in a minute if it wasn't LAW.

  Seems to me that you need more education on your own religion. Don't just accept the force feeding without wondering why and examining the motives.

  Baptized at 7.................rebellion and DFing before age 20. Once that young boy is REALLY able to think for himself, look out WT.

  Oh well! At least the WT will be able to add another name and number to their very secure "ORANGE" file cabinets. They have a fetish for numbers you know!

  I wonder how many years back the files go? It's in Crisis of Conscience I believe.

  quick builds

  ok was lying awake last night @ 3am wondering: when jw's build a hall in a weekend how do they get an inspectors approval so quickly?

  ( i know i need a life).

  i mean various portions need to be inspected before the next step can be built, right?

  Damn..............

  What I remember about KH builds was the bickering and finger pointing. Oh yeah and the adulterous connections (why do you think so many elders travel so far to "help" at quick builds? And the young sisters are pushed to attend in order to make connections with "good" families.

  Panda.........you hit it right on the head! Those words are so true. I was on the building committe for our new KH back in the late 1980's and that is exactly how it was.

  There was so much resentment in the air that you could cut it with a knife. But being the "loving" people that we were, you just took all the bs and then took it out on your family when you got home.

  What I appreciate now is the fact that some of those young sisters who made so much hurt for my own daughter are now living to regret hooking up with the "good" families. They found old school husbands (who probably learned from their fathers) who are control freaks and think of their wives as property, not as equals! And a few had their newly appointed young elder husbands abandon them for a better looking sister. Once they were DF'd for awhile (playing the WT game), they showed re-pants-up.....I mean repentance, and were reinstated with their new sex toy theocratic wife. How the hell did I put up with it all that time?

  NEVER.......I MEAN................NEVER ..AGAIN!

  hello everyone, just wanted to say hello and let you know a bit about my story and tell you how thankful i am that i found this site!.

  i was never a baptized jw although in the early 90's i studied for about 3 years and was an un-baptized publisher for about 1 year before my doubts about some of the beliefs and also my inability to overlook the constant hypocracy of the elders did me in.

  sadly it was not before i dragged the love of my life into it, and also my sister (they are both baptized although she left after seeing the elders double standards when it came to doling out counsel/punishment to their own families, he is still in) anyway even though i couldn't bring myself to commit to the org because of the crap i saw going on in the 2 different halls i attended i still believed it was the truth...what an idiot!

  Welcome to the forum N@H.

  This place is like a coffee shop with many talking and listening, lots of information, lots of agreeing as well as disagreeing, sometimes an argument because of differing opinions. But it is a place where we all come because of our background. It's nice to know that we are not alone in our exit from the WT.

  The only other thing I can add is what I tell all newcomers. To really educate yourself about the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society aka Jehovah's Witnesses, please read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz, an ex governing body member. What he tells is no exageration and he tells it without anger.

  The couple settled in Amelia because few Jehovah's Witnesses live there, leaving more opportunity to witness.

  Maybe they wanted to live where few JW's are so that they can do what they want without being spied on and reported to big brother.
