How many of you have not gone back to the WTS because of what you learned?
by freedom96 in.
.
for many here, you left the religion, or got df'd, and then at some later point you saw information on the internet about the truth of the wts.. you watched, read, and maybe were suprised at what you found out.. had you not had access to the internet, and the information about the wts so easily available, do you think you would have ever gone back?

I thought maybe in 10-20 years time I might need some spiritual enlightenment or something in my life would be missing and I would return, probably to the jw's but I always thought I would keep my options open.
Since reading only some of the stuff thats on the net (and theres a hell of a lot) I've decided that there is only one thing that would make me go back. To pretend it was the truth go through the whole shlep of getting baptised etc. and then start questioning the prophecies etc. to make an example of myself to show other people ie. my family, what really happens in judicial committees and how someone who asks questions is treated.. -

this struck me the other day as it was exactly what I was feeling
Metallica - The More I See
From where I stand I see
Pain, suffering, and misery
The more I see
The less, the less I believe
From where I stand I see
Hate, violence and war
The more I see
The less, the less I believe
The more I see
The less, the less I believe (I believe)
From where I stand I see
Pain, suffering, and misery
The more I see
The less, the less I believe
The more I see
The more I see
The more I see
The more I see
The more I see

anyone read SURVIVOR by chuck palahniuk?
by doogie inyeah, i'm not sure how to spell his last name.
he's the guy that wrote fight club.. i read this book a while ago and was amazed at the way he describes cult life and especially post-cult life.
the story is about a guy that left a cult and the premise is he's the only left on a plane that is almost out of gas and he's telling his life story into the plane's black box so that something will be left after he's gone (i thought that was a great idea for a book).. i was sure chuck palah...whatever-his-name-is used to be a jw.

he wrote a book called choke! about a sex addict who well, has sex all the time and is stuck on step 4 of the sex rehab program. Also about how he tries to raise money for his hospitalized former crackhead mother. Really funny, disturbing, disgusting, interesting, raw, yet good book.

Doesn't it depend on the outfit?
If you're wearing a tuxedo or suit and dark shoes than white socks are going to look a little dodgy..
but if for some reason you're wearing white pants with light coloured shoes anything but white would probably look a little dodgy..
or maybe I'm just talking out my ass
I wear black/dark stuff all day every day.. -

Does Our Being A JW At One Time Mean That We Now Have "Baggage"?
by minimus indo you think we're "damaged goods" now?
-
DireStraitJacket
I think so, especially those raised in the troof, who have to try figure out what life is about all over again when they get out..
Can you count inexperience as baggage?
I'm sure those that joined later in life and hung around for a long time must be ruing the time they've wasted in their lives. -

Is There ANYTHING That You Still Believe In From The JWs?
by minimus indo you believe in hell again?
the trinity?
the "slave"?

I don't believe in hell, or heaven for that matter. I think when you die you change form, or move into a different level of conciousness, whether you can remember your previous form is something whatever I become might find out. We can't be living this life for nothing, I think all the experiences we go through mold our 'spirit' which helps determine what it might become when this life has ended.
I don't think the bible was written by god, but that it does have some good advice in it that we can follow.
Oh and I use the name Jehovah when arguing about god with my family. Don't believe in god either, just that there is something wierd out there, and in some future life maybe I'll find out what that is. -

Suicide Prevention
by ApagaLaLuz ini just wanted to drop a quick note.
last thursday a good friend of mine jumped off of a freeway overpass and killed herself.
ironically it was the same overpass that just 5 years before i had stood atop and climbed the fence with similar thoughts in my head when my family had initially disowned me.

I think its everyones personal choice what they choose to discuss with other people and how they choose to deal with certain situations. As much as we can try be there for them, to support them, if they never choose to accept that help there is little we can do.

the biggest preventing factor for me has always been to think what emotional damage would be caused to the few people I care about
(((Chevy))) i'm sorry you have to go through this, it is something no one should have to experience in their lives
