I'm reaching the same stage with my Metallica and Megadeth, I can only stomach a few songs, the others I've overplayed so much..
I'm slowly getting towards the end of my thrash phaze, I'm half way through the Slayer and Iron Maiden discographies. I'm trying to prolong it a bit by listening to a lot of stuff on the other end of the spectrum..
Cinematic Orchestra, Sixtoo, Roots Manuva, Aim, Air, Boards Of Canada, RJD2, Aphex Twin
then theres all the jungle, drum n base, punk, house, that I listen to regularly.
And I'm just getting into Beethoven and Mozart as well.
Overall nothing reaches the brilliance of good metal though (maybe I just haven't listened to all the other stuff for long enough)

How do you cheer yourself up?

i usually try to go into "look after myself" mode and spend some time alone just relaxing or having a good cry .

I think of an old friend or acquintance who I haven't spoken to for a long time, and phone them or go out with them. It helps take my mind off things now, and brings back good memories of "happier times"
or I try doing some piece of work or a project I've been putting off for a while, like cleaning my room, something that gets my mind totally absorbed.
alcohol also helps :) but thats for rare occasions -

need some advice

Unfortunately it takes forever to get new friends, basically because we are still trying to figure out what to believe in and what interests we have now that we aren't censored by the society. Try finding people with similar interests as you, eg music, talk about your favourite band or whatever with someone and eventually its gets easier to talk about other stuff with them as well.
I struggle a lot with it as well. The only real friends I have now are a few guys I went to school with, and it took 3-4 years to become friends with them, and that was cause I didn't have much choice but to associate with them. I'm trying to be more open with people I meet daily, but it still takes a long time before I feel comfortable around "strangers". -

They have a lot reasoning like this, too many things are either one extreme or the other, there is no in-between. -

much to my surprise, well not really, i found this on page 5 in the article gods kingdom government.
it says, "rather than being an abstract condition of the herart, god's kingdom is a real government thta has accomplished wonderful deeds since its inauguration in heaven it 1914.".

I'm not saying you can't enjoy being with your family, I'm glad that you can spend some time with them..
I just think that this may cause them to put increasing pressure on you and your choices in life
I know that if I went to an assembly the only conversation I would hear the whole day would be about whatever excellent point brother so-and-so brought up in whatever talk, and what an excellent demonstration that was, and didn't you enjoy the illustration used to get random point across.. and it wouldn't end there, I would be hearing it for the next week.. "we should try please Jehovah in EVERYTHING we do"
to me that is a waste of time, I would end up feeling more pissed off at my family than anything else..
hopefully this does not happen to you!! I do wish you the best in seeing your family again, and "pray" that their eyes are not too clouded over by jw doctrine to enjoy spending the time with you as well. -

Surely you're just building up their expectations that any day now you're going to realise how wrong your current actions are that you would like to return to Jehovah and have all you sins forgiven (blah blah..)?
As much as they might appear to respect your choice all they really want to see you doing is going to meetings again and getting baptised...
