my wife and i have not been to a meeting for well over a year.
we are not disfellowshipped, but would be if we admitted to the elders what we've been up to, mainly smoking.
we was both born and raised in the "truth".
You do realize you can get disfellowshipped for celebrating christmas, if you want to fade quietly this is one thing you just cannot get away with.
You will still have to sacrifice some things if you want your family to still think your in,

i was raised a jehovah?s witness and taught from infancy it?s beliefs and doctrines.
i was baptized on (date of baptism here) at the age of 12 years old.
Good letter, but I would make it clear that you would take legal action against the local elders not the WT itself.
I heard of stories were they will leave you alone when they are threatened personally.
I mean would you volunteer to make an announcement if you were personally held to account?

PS If they did Df you, you could do an article in the local press about the shunning. If every person who was DF did this, made it public, they may reconcider there shunning policy, think of all that bad press.
Its taken me long enough, but I am now a middle aged junior, even put my smiley face in the wrong place, tries again
growing up i never really believed in the whole "jehover, angels, jebus, spirits, etc" thing.
i just went along with everyone because i knew i would be rejected and shunned if i said that i did not believe.. over time i learned certain "instincts" that allowed me to live among the "faithful" without their catching on to my non-belief.
one of my instincts that i learned was to expect to bow my head at the beginning and end of any "meeting".
We had some people round for a meal on saturday, non witness. I nearly asked my husband to say a prayer. I did stop myself but I noticed one did bow her head and said a silent prayer.
I felt terrible, Here I was was someone whoes been in a religious org for 20 years ,telling others how to live and behave. A "wordly" person saying grace and I never say it.
I wonder how many active witness pray when there not being observed?

i haven't posted in ages... life has been really busy and happy... two of my pieces of art were chosen for the 2005 calendar for annabelle's collection.
my months are november and december... december being chosen for the cover.

i wake up between 2:30 and 3 a.m. most every night, if i'm alone i read or get on line or watch the tube until about 4 a.m., then crash out until 6:30 to start my day.
four nights ago i was sound asleep, woke up with a flash of a story idea, got up and wrote a rough draft.
this kind of thing happens to me all the time.
I used to cry with exhaustion and frustration, I wake up everynight, I used to be awake for hours now its only maybe an hour, and I rarely get up now. I just lie in bed and (try to think of nice things)
I get my best ideas when im asleep, only things like DIY ideas but when I remember them they are good.and I do use them, also I resolve a lot of problems when im half asleep or asleep.
just had to tell someone who would understand.
today i went christmas shopping for the first time in 17 years!
i am 42 years old and felt about 10!
I asked my husband what we were going to do for xmas, he said "nothing". Talk about miserable, he was always glad we didnt have to spend money.
I am going to buy presents for him and my son and have xmas dinner, well we did that anyway!
I really want to decorate my house and have a tree but am afraid ill have a surprise visit from the congregation or family so I cant !!!!!
Ive talked many times to friends and they all love the atmosphere, the lights the carols. We must have been insane to have been so gulible and OBEYED the org for so long without question

I was brought up in the truth, until I was about 9years then my family fell away.
I went back in when I was 23years and stayed in for 20.
This is a warning, you must deprogram your kids, dont just think they will forget or just automatically think its not the truth, they might not.
The last thing you want is for your adult kids to get sucked back in 20 years down the line
