I knew of a case where the brother went to the elders and the sister didnt, he was reproved, she was DFs the reasoning being he confessed and she didnt. Therefore he must have been repentant ans she was not.

eating disorders in JWs
by girl_interrupted inwhat would the jehovah's witnesses have to say about eating disorders?
presumably any kind of mental illness is frowned upon and put down to weakness of the spirit.....i know when i was in it, one sister was severely chastised for having depression....she was told to have more faith in jehovah and presumably when she did, her husband would stop beating her and sexually abusing their kids which was understandably the source of her depression!

I know someone with a eating disorder, shes in her forties and everyone is terrified of confronting it. And that has nothing to do with her being a witness. They are scared of finding out out WHY she has it.
Or maybe it has ?

Did you ever have to change phone number because of the JW's?

often, i changed phone number in the past, so that they wouldn't bother me.
i remember being active and going to the meetings, but i still wanted none of them to have my phone number, knowing i would one day be inactive.. how about you, ever change phone number because of them?.

Actually we are moving again, so we shall change our phone no and go ex directory Im going to tell my daughter not to give out our phone no so................we shall hopefully disapear once and for all......

One of my employees has cancer...from smoking
by wanderlustguy inone of the things i can't deal very well with is smoking.
i remember telling someone i loved i really wanted them to stop because i didn't want to be the man holding her as she gasped for air dying from the habit.
not 2 minutes after we broke up she was back at it, strangely that hurt me as much as the breakup, thinking of her suffering one day as i had seen others do...all because of cigs.... one of my technicians came in today that i have been having trouble with, his perfomance had become horrible, and i had intended to let him go.

I stopped smoking after 13 years at the age of 25, to become a JW the only good thing I did.
I really hate smoking!

I thought you posts on the awake mag where very funny and you do seem to have some insight in this cult which is good.
Your right its a good idea never to stop her going to a meeting, if she has to fight fór something it will make her strong and thats not what you want.
Instead, if she starts going regular, make fun alternatives to do instead on a meeting night. And dont have the kids if she wants to go to an evening meeting, taking kids to a meeting on your own is no fun, that will really put her off from going
And to add: I think you are resplendant !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep using this word and now im driving myself mad...............how fortunate I am !!!

Eva, I think you have to be very careful. Most ppl become JWs who have had former contact with them or know someone is or was a JW.
Its because when you start hearing first hand from a witness it all feel very familiar . Remember this is a cult, you say you are very interested in religion just remember the WT isnt a religion.
If you do get one at the door please, please just say no thankyou. You know what they have to say so why bother
