reminds me of the reason why my mother turned her back on the coptic church/ethiopia more than 30 yrs ago, the priest had answered her inquiry regarding the trinity by saying "the trinity is a mystery and nobody is able to understand the nature of god"...

I know so far about their assets in brooklyn, their shareholdership of rand cam & subsidiaries, their published income for the wts in new york.

whenever a group of enviro-lefties get together a lot of clumsy comparisons get thrown around concerning republicans, free-marketeers, businessmen, and their alleged resemblance to fascists and nazis.
which is odd because those groups, however much you like or loathe them, are of various christian denominations or even jewish, don?t advocate street violence or eugenics, don?t tend to subjugate individuals to abstractions like racial purity, etc.

Living in a country where the green party has changend politics over the past 20 years to the better i cannot consent with/understand the comparisons drawn between the green parties and the nazis.
and killroy just because fdr was guilty of a crime against human rights there is no need to repeat it. even you must have heard how it affects people to be encamped and stripped from all their human rights and dignity.
i think that we who live in civilized, democratic countries must beware not to succumb to the fear/rage/hate that rightly ensues from current events. because if we do succumb to these we will become just like those who are terrorising us - inhuman and lawless. -

Who actually did the disfellowshipping?

when i was disfellowshipped, i was really looking for a way out, although i did not want to be disfellowshipped, it was easier than making the break on my own.. i appreciate that many are distraught when they get df'd, but was the actual meeting controlled by the elders or you?.
how many were really in control of the meeting and knew that being disfellowshipped was actually a way of ensuring that you would get no more hassle from the elders?

I would say i did.
I wrote a long letter to the elders, giving them an account of my negative experiences in the troof and explained that i could not live as a jw anymore.. but maybe one day i might come back (idon´t know what i was thinking) but for now did not want to be contacted by them at all.
i still lived with my jw mum and told her that i didn´t want any contact with the elders and they have respected my wishes for ten years already. only sending their greetings from time to time. -

I do´t know if you guys who aren´t living in the EU know the details of this case and the prosecution... according to various documentaries that researched the case marc dutroux was part of a larger child molester ring. when the prosecutor started his job he disregarded any evidence and the witnesses that could give proof of the fact that there were others involved - men who are influential politicians, judges and so on. of the witnesses that were to testify against dutroux and the ring 30 died right before their testimony with the police. 30 people had "lethal accidents" and the prosecutor as well as the judges cannot see any strangeness in this, to them this is a mere coincidence. although i am happy that dutroux will be in jail for all his life i can´t help thinking of all the gruesome men that had 30 witnesses killed in order to cover up what they had done and most probably are still doing to children.

How do you interact with your worldly relatives?

now that i am no longer a jw, i can associate, and celebrate holidays and other family traditions with my non-jw relatives.
however i am sometimes bitter because i missed so many experiences as a child with my relatives that they seem almost like strangers rather than relatives.. does anyone else feel this way, and how have you bridged the gap?

i know exactly how you feel...
sadly no one of us can get the time back that we have lost by being jws, therefore it is best to try to focus on the presence and how you can build new relationships with your relatives.
you should not let your grieving keep you from getting closer to your relatives, thus letting this twisted cult betray you of your chance to be close with your family once again. -

Sure i´m going to vote. It took some time until i could vote after leaving the jw ten years ago, as i was still living with my jw - mom and she would accidentally/subconsciously get rid of my election notification card. it was quite funny to me that she wanted to keep me from "sinning".

i saw first hand today how some dubs only respect those of the faith, while dismissing others as scum.
their ridiculous, unnecessary preaching work is their only claim to being christ's followers.

I think that you have to differenciate between different types of jw, as they are not all alike. some of them are goodhearted, loving and caring not only to jw but to all people as they obey biblical laws more than wts principles. but many on the other hand are more self-righteous and think of jw as some kind of an elite group. these are the fake people always smiling, always commenting in the meetings, always giving you some spiritually "uplifting" advises, abusing their children, gossipping etc. - these are the ones that are the white washed graves that gave me the creeps when i was still a jw.
