Don't know if y'all have seen this, but it strikes me as very 'Watchtower-ish". Basically, regardless of your desire to 'do what is right', if you can't do it how THEY say it's 'right', then you're screwed. I don't agree w/ Catholicism, but this little girl probably has nightmares of going to hell b/c the "Holy" church won't let her take communion.

Circuit Overseer visits wife.
by Gordy injust to set the scene.. in 1996 i suffered badly from depression (surprise) which led to me in the december of that year being told by my wife, i had to leave the home.
later i discovered this was under the direction of the elders who considered me a "spiritual danger" to the family.
didn't matter that i had made one suicide attempt.

Dude, that really sucks. Typical WT approach to mental health issues, though. If prayer and increased book selling, uh I mean, Field Service, don't work, then YOU must have done something to bother your conscience to the point that you are depressed. Therefore, you are 'spiritually dangerous'. What a crock of shit. Despite the damage done to your family, at least be glad that you and some of your family are out. Hang in there, tell the CO to go back to his window washing business and to kiss your ass...lol.

The newest article on infertility
by DaCheech inhey out there, back in the days when my wife and i was trying to have kids, we were worried and it took 1 1/2 years to conceive.. .
this latest wt or awake, (since right now i'm pissed): does nothing but bring out negative sides to every issue of fertility (or adoption) possibilities!.
i'm mad as heck!

When do I break them out of this? ...... I think I'm going to discourage Theocratic ministry school....)
Um, 1) As soon as possible, and 2) discourage EVERYTHING about the WTS
Where the HELL do they get off talking about having kids in any way shape or form? None of the GB idiots even HAVE children, so how the F--- do they have ANY clue about the desires of 'normal' people when it comes to having and rearing children. They have NO CLUE!!! MORONS!!! (Can y'all tell I just quit smoking...lol). Pay absolutely NO attention to them or their stupid, illogical, slow-witted, clueless magazines/articles/books/views/opinions.
It's similar to their espousing views on contraception. My cousin and his wife had two kids they could just barely afford and she would not get her tubes tied (or him a vasectomy) because of one or two 'opinions' in some of the older magazines stating that those procedures were 'questionable'. Where the F--- in the Bible does it talk about such things???? Oh wait - it DOESN'T! Now they have a 3rd child whose been sickly and a handful when they would have been perfectly happy w/ just having two.
So, again, we see the double standard. On one hand, if you want to have ONE child, you can't have any type of artifical assistance because it's not the 'right time' to be having chi'ren's. But IF you happen to be OVERLY FERTILE, you can't have anything done to fix it. HUH?????? Idiots.

Ethical question here, what to do?
by Snapdragon inhey all, i have a hypothetical ethical question.. i know for a fact (having heard directly from the now-adult) a certain man molested at least 2 children in the the 1970's.
of course at the time this wasn't discussed and the creepo has gotten off virtually scott free.. i just found out some interesting medical information on him and was wondering if this should be shared with his victims.. of course this is hypothetical, right, i work in the health care profession and am bound by law not to divulge personal medical history.. that being said: the information of this guy doesn't have a lick to do with the past.
its just interesting.

Check the mandatory reporting laws in your state. You may be bound by law to report him to the poice.
True, but the post stated that this had 'nothing to do with the past', which I'm assuming means that it has nothing to do with pedophilia. I think it is probably more 'generic' information regarding his personal life or health.
Snapdragon,
I can understand your wishing to help the cycle of 'karma', due to his past. However, regardless of his past (and how sure are you of the information anyway?) or his past actions, it is NOT your place to take matters like this into your own hands. Put aside the fact that if the information were traced back to you that you could lose your job, and, in some states, your professional license (i.e., nursing license ) if you have one (I'm not sure what you do in the medical field), it is illegal and unethical for you to expose ANYONE's personal healthcare information, regardless of the circumstances. As much as we might like to get even with molesters, this type of action is inappropriate for a healthcare worker. People may then think "Wow, what if he/she gets mad at me? Will they share MY info with everyone?" It's the same reason that, while we may secretly agree w/ 'vigilantes' who avenge their loved ones, being a vigilante is still illegal - because everyone sees different 'crimes' differently. I may say "Well, it's o.k. to kill a molester, but not a thief", while the guy next door may have no problem with killing the thief either. In other words, each individual justifies 'a good reason' for themselves, and all those justifications are different.
Similarly, you may release this information because he's a 'molester', but someone else may want to release information on someone because they looked at their boyfriend, or whatever. That's why it's ILLEGAL to do so AT ALL without the patient's consent unless it falls under those very few circumstances where reporting is mandatory. The law removes all speculation and justification from the process. Ask yourself this: If it was traced back to me and I lost my job/license, would it be worth it? The chances are that it's not. Plus, I don't think you want to get cross-wise with federal laws, especially since privacy of healthcare information is such a hot topic right now....

Who ARE the 144,00??
by TallTexan inthere have been a couple of posts recently about the 144,000. since the wt theory is bogus, i ask the forum, "who are the 144,000"?
i know the traditional view of some religions is that they are 144,000 literal jews who will convert near the gt to witness to the jewish population.
not sure that makes a whole lot of sense to me.

Does the Watchtower Society keep names, addresses, ages, and information on those of the remanant who are still alive? I don't remember anyone saying that the remanant are kept track of, do any of you know?
From the times I was 'privileged' enough to pass the emblems, I simply remember being told to keep a count of any who partook and let the bro's know at the end of the service. I think those are tallied and that's how they keep track of how many of the 'annointed' are still alive. As far as I know, they are not 'tracked'. As Ray Franz points out in 'CHristian Freedom', it's not like they're ever consulted about anything anyway. Glad to know they're the FDS helping out the 'good ol boys' in Brooklyn....

The Jews had a problem when it came to numbers and math and figuring. For one thing, they had no numbers!
My point? The use of numbers in the Bible has a whole other use that was meaningful to Hebrews. Numbers became supernatural symbols. They became detached from a literal everyday use.
Keep that in mind when you start pondering the meaning of some quantity in Scripture.

True, but Revelation was written in Greek, presumably to a large Gentile population as well.

The Internet and Apostasy
by CakeMonkey inhas the internet and forums like these caused an exodus from the j-dubs?
when i left in the early 1990s i met support groups through the yellow pages but it still felt like i was the only one in the world who was an apostate.
i've come to this forum in the last year to browse because my brother has now left.

The internet only helped me solidify and clarify in my mind what I was already feeling - that the WTS was full of crap! It also helped me to diminish the feelings of guilt that I had by seeing the reality of the WTS. Two sites in particular - this forum and Randy Watter's website. My email discussions with Randy were greatly helpful as was reading the book "Releasing the Bonds", along with, of course, Ray Franz' books. I would have had NO exposure to these books if it weren't for the Internet. I also wouldn't have realized how many honest, open-minded, rational, reasonable and caring people were 'apostate'. I thought they were all the bitter, vehemently opposed people we are told about as JW's. What I've realized is that, rather than trying to escape the 'rules' of the Bible, they are simply realizing that being a Christian is not tied up in their association with a mind-controlling cult, but rather about developing a relationship with Jesus Christ. As JW's we were told that apostates were simply rebellious people who wanted to defy all Bible principles and live a life of debauchary. While that may be true in some cases (like mine...lol), for the most part that is just BS propaganda. Thanks to this forum, the (mostly) wonderful people in it, Randy Watters, and several other prominent 'apostates', I have seen the truth behind the WT$ and all it's machinations.

I wonder what it would be like to have sex with yourself ?!
Lol...I could ask several of the elders that I've told to 'go f--- yourself'....maybe they could tell you. They should have had a clear view, too, what with having their head up their asses and all - it should have given them the PERFECT view.....

Why the hell is it that they say that all the rest of revalation is symbolic, but the 144,000 is literal?
Sorry, TT, just read the rest of your post. I'll try to respect your wishes *
* BUT..........Revelation/the Bible is a crock of shit!!!!!!!
Lol, Avashi.....that was pretty funny. I agree with you, however, that since the rest of the damn book is supposed to be symbolic, why do they take this ONE thing as literal??? Oh wait, I know - it's so they can create a class of 'super witnesses' and make the rest of the r&f powerless 'other sheep'....

I guess it only makes sense if one still believes that the Jews are somehow special to God. Oh, and for those of you who don't believe in the Bible, this thread is not for the whole "Revelation/the Bible is a crock of shit" posts. I respect your opinions, but I'm asking a legitimate question for those of use who DO believe in the Bible.....
