There were only 2 full-time Bethelites at the Alaskan Branch to my knowledge. Gerald Ronco and his wife Lucy who I believe died last year. I'm guessing that Jerry's age and the death of his wife may be a factor in closing the Alaskan Branch as well, but that's just speculation. Oh yeah, and there is a private plane up there owned by the Society, but no fishing lodge, LOL. I'm pretty sure the plane was taken out just to reach the remote villages inaccesable by road, it was just a small plane nothing luxurious.

I'm not buying it! That people left the Witnesses and became Christians.
by free2beme ini tried it, could not swallow all the lies and misinformation they had.
i am sorry, but even if you deny the whole witness faith, there is still parts to christianity that they pointed out that you can not just ignore and act like it is okay to join another faith that is christian.
are you going to become catholic when your know their history?

Im sorry. You seem to be confusing religion with Christianity. Rutherford was right about one thing - religion (every single one of them) is a racket. It is possible you know to have a real relationship with God on your own without some organization telling you how to do it.

Fun & Games in the KH - Sunday Contest - WT December 15, 2004, page 24
by jgnat inhere is a pleasantly distracting activity to while away the hours the next time you are at the kingdom hall.. match the marrieds.
on page 24 of the december 15, 2004 wt magazine is a picture of the 117th graduating class of the wtbts school of gilead.
only one couple are actually seated together.. the first person to successfully name that couple wins the prize.

Actually I knew a couple that went to Gilead in 1998 I think, where the husband was black and the wife was white. I can't remember their last name (I knew the wife before she got married) but their first names were Michelle and Kevin.

my non-JW girlfriend emailed my JW mom today
by doogie inlast week, my girlfriend wrote an email that she intended to send to my mom.
my jw parents have never spoken to jessica in the 3 years that we?ve been together (my loooooong story was on the board last week?don?t worry, i refuse to write anymore details than i have to in this post?my fingers are still cramped up?).
anyway, the email was to be their first (and last, probably) communication.

Welcome to the board. I missed your story last week - I'll have to go look that up.
I agree with you that your girlfriend has every right to tell your parents how she feels. This affects her too unfortunately. My husband sent a similar e-mail to my family 2 years ago. My brother called and talked to my husband for a few minutes saying he understood and no hard feelings. Then he got on the phone with me and proceeded to ream me out for the e-mail even though I repeatedly explained that I did not send it - my husband did. It really hasn't changed anything, but maybe it has planted a seed (to borrow a JW term).
Good luck - keep us updated.

Need Help (Refuting JW Doctrines)
by alaskagirl inokay, i'm writing a letter to my brother explaining why i no longer believe the wtbts is god's earthly channel (since he asked).
so i want to mention all the contradictory, scandalous, evil doctrines they teach or once taught.
however, i need to have documented proof of them from "non-apostate" sources.

Thank you all so much for the replies. You've all been so helpful. And Randy I want to thank you for my release from the WTBTS. My fiance (now husband) used your website and some of your audiotapes to help me get out 5 years ago. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I'll let you all know what kind of response I get (if any at all).

Okay, I'm writing a letter to my brother explaining why I no longer believe the WTBTS is God's earthly channel (since he asked). So I want to mention all the contradictory, scandalous, evil doctrines they teach or once taught. However, I need to have documented proof of them from "non-apostate" sources. For instance if there are publications from the society that contradict each other or state blatantly wrong doctrines that would be great. I'm referencing the UN's website in regards to the NGO scandal. Anything that he can check out for himself and does not come from an ex-JW would be awesome. Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Watchtower Society holding personal information / files?
by Celtic ina matter just occurred to me a few minutes ago which was on my mind quite a long while back.. does the local kh and the society hold personal information and/or files about members and/or former members?
if they do, how long do they keep this information?
is this a fully legal practice?.

But these are mostly committe cases, and are kept behind lock and key.
They are supposed to be locked, but I wouldn't count on it. My best friends Dad was the PO in our cong. and let's just say my friend and I learned some very interesting info about the members of our congregation.

When my family found out I was sleeping with my now husband and pretty much wanted to get df'd, they went psycho on me. My parents stalked my apartment all weekend until I showed up Sunday morning (thinking they'd be at the meeting like good little JWs). They confronted me right there with my husband and his two sons in the room - that made for a good "witness". Later my Mom tried to get me to leave the state for a month. She said she'd pay for my tickets and if I really loved him it would last through a month of being apart. Yeah right, not after the intensive JW brainwashing they wanted to give me. My brother tried to convince me that all worldly men are evil abusive scumbags and my husbands first wife must've become an alcoholic because of him (nevermind that her entire family are alcoholics). My sister begged me to talk to the elders. And I started getting items left in my locked car. Now as far as stalking goes that freaky. My elder brother in law also showed up at my apartment right after my parents and hugged me and told me he loved me (which is creepy because I'm nearly positive he meant it in a not so planotic way - but that's a whole other story).
So how did the rest of you fare?
